I posted earlier in this thread about receiving the spam text and that I would alert Verizon. After a couple of days I heard back from Verizon, I have to say I was impressed by their response, I actually got two emails, one of which I posted below. I did go ahead and forward the spam message to Verizon as requested. Hopefully this will help.
Good evening SA,
I hope you had a wonderful weekend! My name is Whitney. I apologize for the delayed response. We have been a tad behind in our 24-48 hour response turn around time. We are working as fast as we can to bring this wait time down.
I am so sorry to hear you and others are receiving spam text messages. This has been an ongoing issue but we do have ways for you to report these text messages and file an investigation.
If you still have the original text message if you could please forward the original text to 7726.
You will receive a free text message requesting the identity of the "From" address on the suspected SPAM message. If you could reply with the ?From? address the text message was sent.
You will then receive a ?Thank you? reply. This information gets sent to our security department to file an investigation and narrow down the origin of the text message.
Thank you for taking the time to notify us of the spam text message you received. If you ever have questions or concerns always feel free to contact us via email or over the phone by calling 800-922-0204 or *611 from your cell phone.
It was my pleasure assisting you today. Tale care and I hope you have a wonderful rest of your day!
Sincerely,
Whitney

My wife and I both received texts from this number last night. Direct Express with what looked like the start of a CC number. I thought scam and apparently it is! Thanks to everyone who posted here. Maybe this will help rid the world of evil.

We received a text from 310738@vtext.com that said our credit card number 4254 57xx xxxx xxxx had been turned off due to fraud. Call 407-392-1604. When you call the number, it tells you they turned the card off in error and to type in your credit card number. We did not. We will call Verizon and have the number blocked.

Got text tonight:
(Direct Express) 533248XXXXXXXXXX
Limited. Call 407 392 1604
Looked here before I decided not to call as it is obviously spam. Not sure how they got my cell as I don't give it out on-line.

I actually got a straight up phone call from an automated dialer telling me there was an issue with my mastercard debit card ( which I dont have ) so I pressed a button to talk to a representative. I actually got a real person on the other line so I started asking him questions about the account and when he saw I wasn't giving him my info he flat out hung up on me! then the next day I got that text saying there was an issue with my debit card and a number to call asking me for my 16 digit account number with no other options. SCAM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! 'MERICA!!!!!!

Both my parents received this text message on their cell phones (BE AWARE!!!):
"310710@vtext.com
Visa 4254-57XX-XXXX-XXXX
BlockedDueToFraud.
Call: 407 392 1604"
at 3:52 pm April 3, 2013
I found this that help me know its fraud, along with a website that explains the scheme from an online banking site it read:
Security Alert - VISA Debit Card Scams by Phone or Text Message ? Your Card has been ?Blocked/Restricted? ? Not Really!!
Feb 15, 2013
Contact: Jennifer Montlary, McNeely Pigott & Fox, (615) 259-4000, jmontlary@mpf.com
This is a fraud scheme attempting to persuade an unknowing cardholder into releasing his/her sensitive card information over the phone by stating your card has been Blocked / Restricted. The con-artist?s goal is to create a counterfeit card containing your account information or to make fraudulent purchases online or over the phone using your sensitive card data. Please remember ? Do NOT release your VISA Debit Card information based on a fraudulent call or fake text message.
Here?s how the scheme works:
A fraudulent phone call or text message comes to you from an unidentified automated call service or messaging service falsely stating that your debit card has been ?blocked? or ?restricted? and the card is no longer available for use.
In most instances, the automated message you receive does not identify a specific bank by name.
You are then instructed to ?Press 1? into the phone keypad to ?reactivate? your card or to speak to a representative.
If you press ?1?, you are instructed by the automated service to manually enter your 16 digit card number, your PIN #, your 4 digit card expiration date, and/or your 3 digit CVV code from the back of your card into the phone in order to ?reactivate? your card.
This is how they capture your card information.
If you have fallen for this scam ? Don?t be embarrassed. We simply ask that you report the situation immediately by calling the Card Security Help Line immediately at (866) 342-5178 select option 5 or (800) 528-2273. During normal business hours, you may also immediately call (800) 413-4211 or visit/call your local FirstBank branch.
****SO THANKS FOR POSTING AND LETTING PEOPLE KNOW THIS IS FAKE & AN ATTEMPT TO RETRIEVE YOUR INFORMATION!!! *** HOPE THIS HELPS OTHERS ****
