The same company texts me once a day from different #s about a free iPhone so replying stop doesn't seem to work either

Replying stop on this site will not do any good at all. You either need to reply stop to a text or find out the company calling you , in my case it was a free I phone with a website listed , and opt out from further contact from them. Reporing them to the "do not call list" is futile at best. If you receiving texts or calls on a cell phone , check with your provider to see if they have an option to block calls , most of them do , either free , or for a nominal charge.
