Called telling me I had been chosen to recieve a vacation to the Bahamas. Scam!

have called using this number of 407-933-2678 4 times in past 3 weeks.  no message left.

Received a call from this number on 06/11/2009 around 1:00 pm on my home phone, which has been on the DNC registry for over a year.  The caller ID reflected EMBARQ (407) 933-2679.  I did not answer the call.  I reported it via the FCC's online complaint form and received a letter in the mail indicating that "after reviewing and investigating your complaint, we have determined that unfortunately the facts presented in this case do not indicate a violation of the Communications Act of 1934, as amended, or the FCC's rules on which we can take enforcement action."  Umm... WHAT??  Okay, so basically "Do Not Call" doesn't mean do not call.  I have a feeling that I need to gather a ton of info from the caller in order to report a violation to the FCC, but I shouldn't have to do that (from what I understand, it can be a struggle to get anything out of the callers anyway... or what if they hang up on you?).  I received a call that I shouldn't have.  Period.  Where is the recourse?

It's a moot point anyway, because I have since canceled my home phone service due to several calls from so-called charities and "surveys," which apparently do not fall under the Do Not Call mandate.  Well, I refuse to pay to be harassed.

The number is for Synergy Hospitality Group in Orlando, FL.  The free cruise is a pretext to sell a vacation package and timeshare presentation.

The prerecorded call is in violation of at least 3 provisions of the TCPA.

1) Making a call to someone on the federal DNC list (if you have signed up)
2) Placing a pre-recorded call without permission your
3) Failing to include the phone number of the company in the recording
4) Failing to include the name of the company in the recording

Once you talk to a rep, you can ask for a copy of their written DNC policy.  By law, they have to give you one.  When a rep from this company refuses, ask if they even have one.  If not, you have them on 3 more violations of the TCPA.

5) Failing to provide a written DNC policy upon demand
6) Training telemarketing reps in the existence and use of the DNC policy
7) Creating a DNC policy in the first place (a manager specifically told me that they didn't have a written DNC policy to hand out)

Each violation carries a penalty of $500, payable to you.  You can even sue in your local small claims court.

i AM ON THE DO NOT CALL LIST AND GET CALLS LIKE THIS TIME AFTER TIME

scammers trying to find suckers for a "cruise"...When calling back got a busy signal 3 times then it finally rang indefinitely.

They just keep calling

Suspect the 407-933-2679 number is bogus - I got same call twice - second time number shows as 407-933-2678 with no EMBARQ ID, but when you try to call 2678 back number is not in service. No need to worry about DNC list if you look like a legitimate number but its not in service.

Same as all above and we are on the "Do Not Call List"!   Don't like
it but several get through.

FREE Cruise!!    Let's stop this scam because NOTHING IS FREE!!!!!

just called at 9:41 PM & hung up when i answered - give me a break - on the DNC list.

The scammers don't care about the DNC list. They just need a sucker or two and they'll make money. They'll close up shop before the FTC ever gets around to them.

I received two calls from this number, both within the same minute, which I missed.  When I tried to call it back, no one answered.  So, I decided to search on the internet.  Now I know who it was.   It concerns me too, that I'm on the DNC list and was called.

embarq as caller id number, didn't leave message but called while sleeping.  tried to call number back, no answer.. I am also on DNC list

Telemarketers offering Bahamas cruises and Florida travel. Their call was in violation of the DNC list.
