Just my 2 back-to-back calls from this number on my personal cell phone.  Thanks for taking the time to post your information since I didn't/won't answer these calls, cell or otherwise.  Since I just have the basic phone there's not much I can do except:
1.  Don't answer
2.  Check for postings here (800notes.com) - Thanks to you I have the data needed)
3.  Add to my Verizon block list (maximum 5 numbers only!)
4.  Report it to the DNC registry
5.  Report it to the FCC (especially if it's identified as a pre-recorded message from a telemarketer to my personal cell)
6.  Add it to my landline PhoneTray software just in case (area code 408 is already blocked on it)

I agree with your message 100% -- but there is too much $$ being exchanged between phone companies, politicians, and telefarters for the problem to go away.  [sigh!]

This is another robo-calling phony number wanting your credit card data, under the guise of reduced interest, etc. It is a newly activated number that has peaked over the last week. These demons may be part of the same gang that uses an ever changing menu of phony numbers and scams, with tie-lines/VoiP/phony computer-generated numbers from area codes all over the U.S.  It is all the same criminal activity. If you want a lower interest rate on your credit card, go to your local bank and politely ask or tell them you will take your business elsewhere.  A pox on them.  In the recent past, they have also used other numbers, which come out as non-working or out of service as well, due to not being issued by a legitimate, licensed common carrier (i.e., a real FCC-licensed telephone company).  More calls grouped into the totality of nuisance, fraud, scam calls.  It is assumed that all improperly or incompletely identified numbers are from the increasing number of scams, frauds, tie-lines, etc. This is why everyone must contact their elected reps in DC to demand that they significantly strengthen the DNC laws, providing extremely severe dollar and prison sentences for violators, and give more strength to the FTC.  This is an opportunity for Congress to actually do something useful for the country, not just pass gas and throw spitballs at each other.  Any business must be properly identified with their legal name on Caller Id, not hide behind Not Available, Private, Unavailable, etc.  It is time to ban any kind of solicitation call, whether telemarketer, charitable, political, survey, opinion poll or whatever, plus outlaw any use of tie lines, robo-callers or use of numbers not issued by a legitimate, FCC licensed common carrier (telephone company).  You can be assured that funds donated or authorized over the phone will mostly go into the pockets of the organizers, not to the charity or political campaign, or intended purpose, along with a $10 donation showing up as $100s in charges.  Never give a credit card number or any personal data to anyone over the phone. There must be a new scam and fraud being generated every second out there.  Also report these scams to your local police, they are very interested in this activity. We need call control, not gun control!

Follow-up. Called number.  Said it was a Verizon wireless caller.  Caller not available.

Call on cell phone.  No message left by caller.

Got a call no message. Called back and it said caller unavailable...

I just got a call from them (11:55 a.m.) - No message left.
