I received a call from Officer Jack Austin and Attorney Michael Wright with the California Federal Crime Bureau state pending charges for pay day loa 2009-2010 and if I didn't give them $2,550.00 file would be downloaded and a warrant would be issued for my arrest.  I asked for documentation as proof that I had taken out a loan with SJM Marketing.  They just became beligerent and ridicolous. Both gentlemen had heavy indian accents very difficult to understand.  It is disturing because they have my banking information, obviously my information has been hacked.  HOW IRONIC THIS PHONE NUMBER IS NO LONGER IN SERVICE NOW.  ONE WOULD SAY THAT IS THERE MOTTO CONSTANTLY CHANGING NUMBERS AND ON THE RUN.  GOD DOESN'T LIKE UGLY THEY WILL BE CAUGHT EVENTUALLY AND DEALT WITH ACCORDINGLY.  BEWARE

I received a call this morning from a guy with a bad accent claiming to be Greg Johnson. The number he called from was 510-256-0361 but the number he told me to call back was this 818-337-3040. It seems they have many different numbers...He said he was with the Federal Leg. of Customer Repair Center. He left a message on my cell phone stating that he had premission from my attorney ( I do no have an attorney) to contact me, then he went so far as to tell me he knew my ssn and that I have 3 criminal charges against my name and ssn. I pulled up my court records and there are no such charges, which I knew there wasn't. When I tried to find out information on these numbers and his name, nothing was available. I just happened to pull these numbers up on google and found all these complaints against this guy/company. Does anyone know how to put a stop to this. Any help would be greatly apperciated.

I was on my lunch break and came back to a voicemail from an Indian guy named "Johnny Walker". I dont even know if he was directly asking for me, but he said that it was a very time sensitive issue and that I need to call back immediately. Finally, he ends the message, "If you do not call back, then all I can do is wish you good luck" like it was a life and death matter. The only thing that upsets me is that it makes me wonder how he got my name and work phone number. I hope this scammer gets caught and gets deported.

This placed called my sister which the number showed up on her caller ID as 911.  That is the only reason why she answered.  She was then informed that she is going to be arrested because there is a warrant out for her arrest (which I told her was impossible) and mine because of a cash advance from 2009.  I have asked "Mike" ...with a very heavy accent...numerous times to simply send me something in writing.  Today he informed me that the "company" has sent me numerous emails and they only correspond via email.  I proceeded to inform him that legal matters are not send via email.  Seriously...there is a process...its called an intent to collect wages (or something similar).  I told my sister not to worry about the calls.  We are both trying to figure out how to report this number as they call my job often but recently started calling my sister.

Extortion Scam Related to Delinquent Payday Loans

Washington, D.C.
December 07, 2010  FBI National Press Office
(202) 324-3691

The Internet Crime Complaint Center has received many complaints from victims of payday loan telephone collection scams. Callers claim the victim is delinquent in a payday loan and must repay the loan to avoid legal consequences. The callers purport to be representatives of the FBI, Federal Legislative Department, various law firms, or other legitimate-sounding agencies. They claim to be collecting debts for companies such as United Cash Advance, U.S. Cash Advance, U.S. Cash Net, and other Internet check-cashing services.

According to complaints received from the public, the callers have accurate data about victims, including Social Security numbers, dates of birth, addresses, employer information, bank account numbers, and the names and telephone numbers of relatives and friends. How the fraudsters obtained the personal information varies, but in some cases victims have reported they completed online applications for other loans or credit cards before the calls started.

The fraudsters relentlessly call the victim?s home, cell phone, and place of employment. They refuse to provide any details about the alleged payday loans and become abusive when questioned. The callers have threatened victims with legal actions, arrests, and, in some cases, physical violence if they do not pay. In many cases, the callers harass victims? relatives, friends, and employers.

Some fraudsters have instructed victims to fax a statement agreeing to pay a certain amount, on a specific date, via a pre-paid Visa card. The statement further declares the victim will never dispute the debt.

If you receive these calls, do not follow the caller?s instructions. Rather, you should:

?Notify your banking institutions.
?Contact the three major credit bureaus and request an alert be put on your file.
?Contact your local law enforcement agencies if you feel you are in immediate danger.
?File a complaint at www.IC3.gov.
Tips to avoid becoming a victim of this scam:

?Never give your Social Security number?or personal information of any kind?over the telephone or online unless you initiate the contact.
?Be suspicious of any e-mail with urgent requests for personal financial information. The e-mail may include upsetting or exciting but false statements to get you to react immediately.
?Avoid filling out forms in e-mail messages that request personal information.
?Ensure that your browser is up-to-date and security patches have been applied.
?Check your bank, credit, and debit card statements regularly to make sure that there are no unauthorized transactions. If anything looks suspicious, contact your bank and all card issuers.
?When you contact companies, use numbers provided on the back of cards or statements

I have been getting calls from this and other numbers stating the same thing.  I am filing a formal complaint with the police department as every time I have ever called these people back it goes to some recording stating that the mailbox is full.  These people are just hoping that someone freaks out and gives them permission to use your bank info.  I did not receive these calls until I got an online payday loan, then some company took 40 bucks from my account that I didn't authorize, and after I notified my bank of this and disputed the charges, the phone calls started.  I think it has something to do with online pay day loans, so please, just don't get them, even if you need the cash that quick, it is just not worth it.
