Why haven't the police caught this guy yet? The same thing happened to my fiance but he fell for it because we really need the money and now we're even more in hole!! Any suggestions?

I just got text from this Barry guy couple of days ago, same number, same story... The guy hasn't stopped.

It was my very first time on craigslist, I put some sport equipment on sale. He texted me 3 texts explaining me he would send me a money order + bonus for the shipment.

I found that fishy at first , he then texted me from another number(409-234-0966) (his previous number was 214-935-4856) claiming that the 1st one was his wife number.

I m glad I googled the number to find this out, as soon as I receive the check i'll give it to the police.

Thanks to you guys and a man I know that can sell a fish a hook barry fumbled on the goal line.....

Just text my phone in response to an expensive item I have for sale on Craigslist.
I didn't respond.
Can you imagine how may poor unsuspecting people are affected by these parasites?
Why can't it be traced and stopped with all the tax dollars we pay in our communities?
We need protection. Police may say they are working on it, however, they are not.

I got the same response today from "Bryan" I turned it over to the sheriff along with all of your post- he says it will go to the FBI who can trace the call to the source and whoever pays the phone bill. "bryan's" days are numbered.

Ditto.  My response to his 3 page text was that he can mail his phony check to the District Attorney's Office as I've just told them about him.

He is using the name Bryan with me right now.

I was selling something on Craigslist for $300.   A person who identified himself as Bryan (text call) text me and said he was interested and would mail a check.  Received the check for $1950 and I automatically thought scam, scam, scam. Took the check to the police department and explained to them about the scam.  At the police station, I text Bryan telling him that I had filed a report with the police department and for him not to text me anymore. I am wondering that giving him my name and mailing address would jeopardize me in any way.

Whose # is this? Any help is appreciated.

I'm so glad i check this out. It just happened to me, and it looked so weird i had to double check this "Danny with the 409 number" i also listed some furniture in craig list and i am supposedly receiving a check this wed with an extra 50.00 to hold the item and the difference to pay the "shipper" I now know i won't be cashing this check nor sending any difference to any shipper.

I was the victim of this scam, I just really thought it was a persons first time on Craigslist and didnt know how it went , they sent me the check, which was bad , I took it put it in my bank, but the sketchy thing I should have caught and didn't do it even though I gave them the benefit of the doubt about the story was to send it via money gram to a "Larry towery " of Princeton, ky and gave me the reciecers name and address which apparently wasn't the person I was talking to via text, so I didn't wrongfully hold the money for the fear I may be persecuted for it so I sent it, learned today it was a bad check and I'm now in the hole due to these low life's but like all scams I want to put and to it and I will get to the bottom of this. Apparently it's a Texas number the person who gets the cash is in ky and the check comes from Milwaukee sounds more like an organization is scamming money of Craigslist but I'm giving the cops everything so they can end this bull s*** once and for all.

Same thing happened to me. I am selling a couch and love seat on Craigslist, this 409 area code text me and said they would send a check via fedex and pay me another $50 to hold it for them....totally weird. They just kept asking for my full name and address to send payment to. Who pays for furniture in full without seeing it first and not knowing the person selling it? I called the number and it said "please leave your name and we will try to connect you" and then it rang a few more times and said "the google subscriber that you have called is unavailable leave a message" so I did and they never called back. Scam!! The # is 409 571-9053 and they said their name is Danny. Just weird I don't understand what kind of scam it would be. What can they gain by having my name and address? Or maybe it has something to do with once I would have deposited the check? I don't know but it was weird I just stopped contact.

I got the same thing!  Definately not sending my name and address to this person!!

What happened with your items you were selling? Did it ever sell? Did you find they were not legit?
