I got a message from this man calls himself Davie Jones. I told him I had already turn him into the Police dept. and told him to do whatever he needed to do . Told him never to call back again. Sounds like that George guy that called me last week and I did have the police here.

Kevin left a voicemail and stated he was an FBI agent. When I called the "operator" answered, so I requested extension 109. This man presses a button on the phone, mutes the phone, and a few seconds later, responds with a "Hello". I asked, "You call that a transer?". He continued to talk until I told him that I intern with the FBI and volunteer with the Sheriff's Department...magically the phone hung up.

I have received multiple calls from this number today. A man with a thick middle Eastern Accent claiming his name was Officer Jones from the FTC and that he received alerts under my social and name for payday loan fraud and that I would be arrested if I did not take care of this debt. I laughed and let him know that I was aware of this scam. He then became upset and asked me why I was laughing and then stated he would have the last laugh when he comes to my doorstep!! Beware !!!!!! I contacted the police and files a complaint to FTC

This is a criminal extortion scam operating out of India. They are making the calls utilizing VOIP and the names of legitimate firms to make it appear the calls are originating from within the US. There is NO "company" or "debt" and you will NOT be arrested. They are harvesting and/or buying consumers' personal identifying information from unscrupulous websites like the one you may have filled out an application with, and you need to do whatever you can to protect yourself. This includes: Notifying the FTC: https://www.ftccomplaintassistant.gov/, placing fraud alerts with all three credit bureaus, notifying your bank and employer and letting these criminals know you are aware they are attempting to extort money for a non-existent debt and have alerted the authorities.

ABC News released an investigative report on this scam a year ago:

I got a call at 6:30am this morning from this number twice with two different voice mails. Both were very heavy accent of middle eastern decent.
Stating the same thing. I know for a fact that the FBI is involved with trying to catch these thieves. Do NOT pay them a dime. Report them to your local attorney general's office.
First of all working in a third party collection agency in the past I know the rules and regulations, the first thing they did not do is tell me the mini Miranda rights. And second they are breaking the actual law not just rules and regulations by giving false information.
Be AWARE anyone who calls and threaten that you will be arrested for not paying a debt is a scam.

This caller sounds just like a scam caller that we received last week at 818-337-1290. Claimed that we owe money that he is collecting before we will be contacted to be arrested by the FEDS.  Now this number calls and says that he is the FEDS and is calling to collect the money or we will be arrested. First number said he was Kevin Parks, a lawyer from a law firm called C Williams & Assoc.  Now he is a federal trade commission officer named Kevin Miller.  (Not very original).  Demands payment of $500-$1000.
