GOt a call from this number.  Rang a couple of times and when I picked it up, the line went dead.

report this to ftc.gov.and stop those scammers.

Just got a call and when I called back, was told the number was not in service.

Got a call at 11:35 AM on 8/2/11. Caller ID says Karen Schaffer. Rang twice, picked up..then call disconnected.

No message.  Dropped as soon as answering machine picked up the call.

I rec'd a call 7-25-11 from this number and caller I.D. read Karen Schaeffer, we didn't answer it...Today 8-1-11 also rec'd a call from same number but caller I.D. read Maryland...annoying since I am sick and was asleep.

Go this call today....I'm on the Do Not Call List.  Why did I get this?  When you call it back I get the message that it's "Out of Service"  It wasn't 60 seconds ago...

Just got a call and I answered "Howard County Police" and they hung up.  LOL.   It's so easy to hack a number nowadays.  Hopefully they will catch these bufffons cus the calls are still happening.  Sad.....

Call is from a financial advisor service near Baltimore, MD.
I selected to speak with someone. Male voice presenting an offer to reduce home mortgage rate.
I told them they were in violation of "Do Not Call". They hung up.
There is a K Shaffer listed at that number. Location near Baltimore.

Hijacked phone number??

Got one of these today too. Did not answer.

same as many others who have already commented but so far only one call per day for several days; I've not picked up; no message left

I received two calls from this number in as many days... a mortgage sham.  I am two seconds away from implementing the privacy code so no one will be able to ring my phone without the password.

I hope Verizon and the police are able to stop this.  There are just too many of them.

I just called this supposed Karen Schaffer and her message says that her phone was hacked and its a police matter now and its under investigation & Verizon is apparently looking into as well!! This reminds me of the facebook scam going around not too long ago?!

Im Karen Schaffer and its not me. They spell my name the same way and I promise you it didn't come from me. I must be a victim of identity theft. The fact that my last name can be spelled so many ways and its the same way I spell it. To boot, I just got a call from Karen Schaffer too!! Please help!!

This caller ID says this is "Karen Schaffer" but she is not the one calling. The actual Karen is working on the situation. Her number was obviously hacked and the situation is being investigated by Verizon and the police. If you do pick up, and get the robocall, and are then "lucky" enough to talk to an actual person, then be sure to tell the person on the line that you know the number was hacked and that you are aware of this being a scam, and that they are under investigation. This has obviously been an enormous burden for Karen. Please do not call back and leave her any angry messages. I'm sure she is just as eager as you are, to stop these people from using her number!

Received a call at 4:28pm, 22July2011. Robocall message, Caller ID: Karen Schaffer.  Just another mortgage scam!

Recorded message with karen Schaffer name on the caller ID.  seem to be scam.

Some kind of "Federal Stimulus" mortgage scam.  The recorded message never identifies the name of the company (Caller ID says "Karen Schaffer", but I have my doubts).  Pressing 2, as directed, to be removed from their marketing list appears only to drop the call.  At least so far I'm only getting one a day.
