It's worse than an FTC problem. Unless you are a registered electric supply company, you are not allowed to cold call in Maryland, so it is a PSC issue as well. Several companies in MD have been fined for this practice on the part of their independent reps.

Another unsolicited or scam call, presumably related to switching to a different electric company. I don't know. I don't answer calls from numbers I don't recognize with names like this on Caller ID.

Same story this morning around 09:30 AM. The FTC will not take any action without a "significant" number of complaints. They will not say what makes a "significant" number of complaints. I suggest you do the following:
(1) file a complaint at
https://complaints.donotcall.gov/complaint/complaintcheck.aspx?panel=2
(2) email or snailmail your congress-persons (Representatives and Senators) about the FTC's failure to enforce the Do-Not-Call list. Mention Donald S. Clark, Secretary of the Commission. This is the guy whose name appears on correspondence claiming they don't have enough complaints. (If you have a Republican, forget this step, their not interested in our problems or interested in accomplishing anything useful).
(3) call the FTC, Donald S. Clark, Secretary of the Commission at 1-202-326-2514.
Complain! Complain! Complain!

You can not stop these kinds of calls. If you can get to talk to someone, ask them to send you a copy of their do not call lists, if they are legit, they will send it to you, if not, they will hang up on you. Under FCC rules they have to comply upon request. How they are getting around this rule is to hire a telemarketing firm and they can claim they didn't violate any rules.

Yes it's a scam to trick you into changing your energy provider from whoever you currently have selected to be your generator.

Like the others above, recorded message mentions lowering utility bills. Figured it's a scam...

Received a call from this number at about 8:00 PM. I was out, no message was left but Caller ID said it was Electric Center. Hit redial to see what would happen and got a recorded message to be placed on their Do Not Call list. If my number is already registered with the National Do Not Call List, why would I need to be placed on their Do Not Call list?! They shouldn't even have my number in their system as it is unlisted and unpublished, and if they use the National Do Not Call List, they should have some way to input the registered numbers so they don't call them! It's a pretty useless service as I get calls from a different company on my cell phone which is also registered.

i have recieved this number calling me several times. they continue to ask me how i would like my rates on electric /gas lowered. they are from maryland but only cover northern or central maryland companies, pepco, bge, nothing where i live? or course for a small fee they can help u lower ur rates. i called the number back and pressed one, to be taken off the call list, ive done this 2 times so far, once in november and once today. just for your info, if u pay ur bill on time u can go on budget plans that spread out cost ( say high summer electric costs to monthly thru out the year ) the monthly bills are affordable with more controled prices. at the end of each enrolled year u see what u really used, and if prices were raised during that year u pay the difference, last year i paid 5 dollars difference at the "settle" up time..., . ive done it for years, all u have to do is pay bill on time for 6 to 8 months, to be able to enroll. and ive done it with gas and electric.. sure beats paying 300 in summer time for a/c.

This number called with Electric Center in the caller ID and when I answered, no one was there. Complete silence.

Called yesterday. Caller ID said Electric Center. I do periodically get calls from my electricity provider so I picked up. Immediately I was greeted with extremely annoying music and a recording about lowering my electric rates. I hung up.

We didn't pick up. Caller ID says Electric Center.

Electric scammers. If you ask the name of their company, their location, etc., they slow-walk it-- a sure sign you're dealing with a scammer.
