new message, mumble mumble we have your check call me back mumble mumble then a phone number and extension, I don't use checks in Maryland and only deal with local suppliers so there is NO way he has a check of mine:!!

i'd report them to the BBB and Attorney General's office. You might want to add your phone number to the do-not-call list.  I have my cell phone and landline phone number on the DNC list and have had since shortly after the DNC list was implemented.  I never have gotten a telemarketing call on either phone until a few months ago.  I don't have caller id on the land line phone.

have you ever thought of reporting this to the attorney general's office?  also, the tv station here (channel 6 - ABC) has a person who investigates all scams etc brought to his attention via the station's phone number.  It's called 6 on your side.  He works on uncovering the scammers and has a full report on tv.
You also might want to report the matter to the BBB in the city where the call is originating from (if you know it).

I never answer my phone even if i am right next to it when it rings. NEVER.  One time when I was expecting a business to call me right back and the phone rang, I answered it.  I encountered a similiar situation as you did, however, the girl (sounded like a young black girl) hung up on me when I said I was on the do not call list and not to call me again.  The spiteful bi*** didn't take me off her list as I get two calls a month for the past 3 or 4 months from them.  

I bought a flat screen tv within the past 8 months and put it on my cr cd.  Recently it hit me that maybe the company (H.H. Gregg) sold my information to this sleasy skumbag company.  I'm also on the do-not-call-list and have been since shortly after it was set up.

This number is from MIG capital. They are a collection agent based in Tampa, Fl.  I spoke with a guy named Mike Saunders who was very rude and discourteous when I asked him to stop calling. I then hung up and he calls back from 813-262-0129.  I spoke with Mark Taylor, a manager/supervisor with the company who was fairly nice. Mush more level headed than the drone Mike. It was said to send a Cease Communication letter to this addresss: 5811 Memorial Hwy, Suite 208, Tampa, FL 33615.

Got the same call with no message. I don't even have a credit card!

I've been getting this caller on my pre-paid Net 10 phone. I've been called twice so far and I've had the phone for less than 3 weeks. I never get this number on any other phone I have. Hmmmmmmm..

left message on cell phone: "Hello, this is Amber Johnson from the credit card services department.  Since you are a good customer and carry a balance on your card, we would like you to know that you are eligible for a reduced interest rate and lower monthly payments.  Call 1-800-978-4591....."  
I have no balance, and have not given my cell phone number out to anyone but friends.  Obviously a phishing scam to collect credit card info.  Phony Johnson surname probably used for calls to Minnesota.

Thanks for posting.  I unlike you provided them with some information regarding my credit (but my card information.  The guy on the line with me was so very rude.  I asked him several questions and he gave me nothing but attitude.  When I asked if they were a compay that contacted me or if I contacted them, he lied and said I contacted them.  When I asked for the company website so that I could learn about what it is they supposedly do he said there was none.  He claimed that they were "Card Services" and the only way I could get my interest rates lowered was throught them.  That didn't sit well with me.  He then tired to convince me that they couldn't do anything with only my credit card number.  Ah yeah right! Finally I asked for his name and extention, he said it was Marcus Johnson and that he had not ext. number.  I told him that at this time I was not prepared to do anyting.  To which he so rudely replied " i am not here to beg you to lower you interest rates, if you want to continue wasting your money fine with me!" and hung up.  I tried to call back to complain and or give him a piece of my mind. But the line was and continues to be busy.  SCAM indeed!!

got the call today (2x). they left a message. it was a credit card offer to lower my interest rate.

BEWARE-This horrible scam of a company called me asking me if I wanted to lower my interest rate on my credit cards to 6.9 percent?  When they asked if I had a balance and I said "no", they almost instantly hung up on me without answering any of my questions regarding what kind of company they are.
They assume you are an ape with no reasoning abilities and hang up on you.
If I can reach a manager through this line, I hope to get the CSR fired that I spoke with on the phone.
She treated me like garbage and wouldnt even give me the name of the company so I could look it up.
I googled this number and found "freedom financial", but often times companies like this scam, get your credit card info and then change the name of their company after getting busted or after having horrible reviews written. BEWARE and dont ever give anyone your credit card info.  Scammers are looking for ignorant people to do so.

They wouldn't release the company name but claim to be 'Cardmember services' - which of course sounds credible as many legitimate credit card companies are serviced by cardmember services.

I had the same experience as marym above - this is one of those 'lower your debt' scams likely looking to offer you a lower credit card rate as bait.  It sounds to me as if they are fishing for folks with a reasonable credit card debt to offer a 'debt bail out' service.

They hung up on me as soon as I started to ask quesitons to find out more about who they were and what they were really up to.

AVOID these folks - and of course as usual you can't call them back to complain about the invasion of your privacy and phone based SPAM.

Called my cellphone  at night ,off and on for 4 times now.Not leaving any messages as my cellphone is turned off after office hour.  Call the number next day ,with no one answer the phone.only machine . Weird!
