Due to recession, US IT Recruitment is being outsourced to India to cut costs.Yes it will be very difficult to understand Indian accent, but now a days many companies here(in India) are giving us accent training to serve you better.I agree that for US positions they should hire US workers, but to cut down costs and help companies perform better, jobs are outsourced. Many Americans think that we are hogging your jobs but the truth is that we are paid very less for doing a job that has been outsourced and we have to work during night(because of the 12 hour time gap between US and India. It is night here when it is morning in US) which spoils our health within two to three years. But we do not have any other option due to high unemployment levels here.We are not your enemies. Some frauds (who think that doing business is cheating someone to make some quick money) do these kinds of things which in turn affects the credibility of all Indian workers. But not all Indians are cheaters or frauds.

Hmm....
My position is if they need people to recruit for US positions they should hire US workers, especially with the huge unemployment issues currently.
Why would I want to discuss my qualifications with someone I can hardly understand, and speaks dubious English.

Ok everyone settle down.  The number is legit.  I contacted my local Aerotek office and asked about it at length, and found out they have outsourced recruiter jobs to India to help with filling positions here in the US.  Yes it was hard to understand the lady in India.  But my local Aerotek office is well informed she told me all about it. It's not a scam. There's real openings that they need real people to fill the positions.  I went to my preliminary interview today at my local Aerotek office.  They are recruiters trying to fill CSR positions, Tech and Sales positions here in my area. more than likely there are more jobs than the one I am applying for as there was a steady stream of people coming in to apply and some who had been hired and going to their first day of work.   Very nice place, very nice people who want to get you hired and placed in a company.
Have a great day!

I applied at Aerotek for a position I am qualified for.  The recruiter called me back several times very interested.  She emailed me link to the ProveIt test which is legitimate. I checked it out before going to the site she gave me.  I then entered it myself instead of clicking her link.  I took the test and apparently passed she said the next step is an interview with the company I'd be working for in my area.  So far I don't think it's a fraud or scam.  The person is Indian like the posts above indicate. Her accent was very heavy and I could barely understand her. After reading all the posts, I am leery and a bit concerned.  If it's not a scam I will post again after my interview on 6/25/13.  So that people here will have useful information to make their own educated guess or decision whether to continue speaking to these people or not.  I will also find out "where" the person is calling me from.

I have been doing consultant work in IT since 1999. Many years back I made a promise to myself not to work with Indian recruiters and their agencies. Because of way to many totally unprofessional experiences. If you ask me they have been metaphorically slashing their own throats for a decade with their recruitment tactics.

410 is Eastern Maryland/Baltimore area

The caller, whom I can educatedly guess that he has an Indian accent, said he was from Teksystems (whom I've had 4 contract postitions through).  In his voicemail he mentioned "a position with T-Mobile" in the Baltimore/Washington area.  The call back number he left started with 888 (not this 410 number) and had a 5 digit extension.

I know exactly what you mean.  This really frustrates me seeing as I've been out of work way longer than someone with my skillset and experience should ever be.  Usually I let numbers I don't know go to voice mail, but if I do talk to one of these people that I can't understand, I tell them thank you, I prefer to correspond over email.  Then I typically get an email with 20 questions or more, few of actual relevance to the actual duties of the position.

Completely agree with JJ and would like to add that the results are that Aerotek offers far lower wages than the competition.  I worked a contract through teh Flint Michigan office and couldn't of had a worse experience in getting paid.  Signed time sheets were submitted on time yet they couldn't get their payroll together to cut me a check.
Just to be clear, this is not a Direct Deposit delay but their office delay to cut a check.

In several years of experiences while contracting, the typical Indian callers have always offered lower wages than stateside recruiters, they are completely uninformed on the client's needs, and do not have access to the manager.

you bet,  a U.S. Citizen is going to navigate the difficulties of communicating in modern American (differs dramatically from 'plain english') regarding a technical position, when someone in INDIA COLD CALLS THEM.

And based on the notoriously poor communication that arises, this is the first screening for a tech interview.

The massive logic failure here is STUNNING.   Its either India trying to  meet its outsource quota, or its technical firms fobbing off their initial recruiting to a 2nd class SCREENING PROCESS.

On top of which a tremendous amount of personal information is being exchanged OUT_OF_COUNTRY to a 3rd party who is NOT COMPELLED to protect your privacy.

Logic dictates... HANGUP, or get the direct details about the firm/recruitment.

Not to mention it is not uncommon for such agencies to share not only what they've discovered but what personal info  you supply, to the next step in the supply chain. Data is Money.

Forget this and search MONSTER, DICE,  etc...... call TEKsystems at the local U.S. office cited in the job description

Hi,
This number belongs to a sister company of Aerotek and TekSystems- It goes by the name of Allegis Services India. It is used by the sourcing specialists working from India to support the recruitment process in US- They use different extensions though. I know this because I work there as a sourcer too. I apologize for any inconvinience this has caused you.

This is the number of the Indian call center for TEKsystems and AEROtek, computer staffing companies. The Indian Call Center has job requisitions and does the initial screening for contracts and full time positions for the US Recruiters and Account Managers who are their counterparts.

I got a call from this same # as well.  They are a placement firm called AEROTEK and I did send them my resume like 2 years ago when I was looking for employment.  They called me for a job that fits my background but I am already working for the company they want to hire me for.  Funny...

I did update my resume with them as obviously it takes them a while to get back to you and I figured it couldnt hurt if I got laidoff in the future.

The number is real and the place is real. Their 800 number is (888)456-2404 and their website is AEROTEK.COM.  As of 10/01/11 they were hiring for BOFA mortgage positions...

Good luck to all Job Hunters out there...
