This is a criminal extortion scam operating out of India. They are making the calls utilizing VOIP and the names of legitimate firms to make it appear the calls are originating from within the US. There is NO "company" or "debt" and you will NOT be arrested. They are harvesting and/or buying consumers' personal identifying information from unscrupulous websites like the one you may have filled out an application with, and you need to do whatever you can to protect yourself. This includes: Notifying the FTC: https://www.ftccomplaintassistant.gov/, placing fraud alerts with all three credit bureaus, notifying your bank and employer and letting these criminals know you are aware they are attempting to extort money for a non-existent debt and have alerted the authorities.

We have received a call from this number 410-849-4180 saying that my sister ss was under investigation. I try to call back to let them know that I know they are a scam but the line was busy. I hope they catch them for trying to take advantage of people.

These people called at 7:15 am...same as above, a guy with a thick Indian accent. I always research odd calls and I am glad to see the information I found here. Thanks everyone.

I got the same call this morning

I just received this phone call yesterday saying I had until 10:30 today to pay 800 or i was getting arrested. Now that I looked up the number and found out it is a scam I really am relieved. Why would people do such things? Something does need to get done about this as soon as possible.

The same people have been calling me all week. Now, they are calling my job. Ive called the number back, and they cursed me out and hung up every time. They even threatened to continue to call my job a thousand more times. What can I do? This is so unfair. Its the same indian people claiming I owe 500.00 and I will be arrested at work and go to jail if I dont send them money. Ive contacted the police, sheriff, and BBB and they all say they are a scam.

I have been tryiing to get to the bottom of this group of scammers. My son is also being harrassed. You should file a complaint with the Federal Trade Commission. I have and have also contacted my congresswomen in my area, she is sending me papers to fill out to get the government involved. I suggest everyone do the same.  I can't believe since I have been investigating this myself this has been going on since 2007 maybe even longer, why hasn't anyone come out and OPENLY protected the public about this. These criminals are terrorizing people in the United States and some instances threatened to ruin their lives, they will call them day and night, calling relatives, and employers.  But it doesn't seem like they have much power if they have to get us to wire them money. So, they only have fear and threats. If you can change your no. or on ur cell phone you can block up to 5 numbers. at least verizon does. There maybe other options like if someone doesn't show who is calling your phone automatically says "this number doesn't accept blocked calls" There is also the "Do Not Call List" to keep solicitors from calling but it may take some time to get through the system and these are criminals and they don't always play by the rules. Again Im still working on trying to catch these guys, I will keep you posted. I have counted 20 different numbers they are calling from,202,205,206,415,915,732,904,954,877,828,855,845,646,410,888.These are the area codes. So don't believe you can be arressted or dragged out of you house without receiving paperwork in the mail or being served papers thats how its done here in our Country. Collections companies aren't allowed to call and scream and yell at people. just hang up don't even engage in conversation.

I continue to get calls at work from someone with a thick accent not english saying i owe money to US cash advance.  He claims he is an officer marshal and I will be arrested from not paying this outstanding debt and I am being sued. I need to pay 400.00 now or will be arrested at work.

I received the same call this morning. I didn't answer since I did not recognize the number, but the message was the same as the people above. There has to be a way to stop these people from calling you. If anyone know who, please advise.

Same are calling me. They even called my employer twice now since I've been at work. Does anyone know how I can get them to stop that before I lose my job?

Also got two calls from this guy who claimed he was from some kind of investigation service firist call he wanted my attornies information (had a very thick accent).I told him I dont give out such information and hung up. He then called right back explaining that my soc. sec. number was being investigated and I told that I DO NOT give out my soc. sec. over the phone to anyone. I had calls like this before from Los Angeles, Chicago, Atlanta, and North Carolina. THEY ARE ALL SCAMS !!! My wife and I had an online loan last year and we think thats how they get the information. My bank advised us that there are online loan sites that are complete frauds. And they trick people into giving personal information for a loan and then claim you didnt qualify for the loan. And you never hear back from them. BEWARE OF ONLINE LOANS !!!!!!!

I keep getting these phone calls from this number at work and now my work is threating my job because they keep calling.  The lady keeps telling me her name is Christina White and she wants to confirm it is me from my social security number to see is me that has a legal case out there.  SHe says she is from the legal investigation department.  I really wish they would stop calling because I can not lose my job because of this.

The caller was an Indian and she said that my social security number was under investigation and that I need to call her promptly. I have gotten these calls before and never returned the calls and nothing has happened to me or my social security number as I have a monitoring service so I guess it's a scam!!!!

I went back and listened to the partial message left before I picked up the phone. He said his name was Officer Paul Raid (I think that's what he said---I couldn't understand his accent!) He said he was calling from a Law Investigaton Dept. and the purpose of his call was just to inform me...that's when I picked up the phone.
He didn't speak very clearly and was leaving his message for a "Leslie Ann".....My name is Lynn...I told him there was deffiniteya mistake and tha tere wee no legal cases against me. I asked him to tell me what it was about and he just kept saying for more information I needed to spak o his supervisor or something like that. I also questioned who he was trying to reach and he spelled out my last name but I told him that it wasn't me and that they should remove my number from their call list.
  I had received a call from the same person a few days ago and he gave me a phone number to call to speak to someone concerning the criminal charges I am facing and if I wanted to avoid going to court and eng chargd and indited on these criminal charges that have been filed against me I should call the number right away. I tried to call the number but nobody answered and it just sounded fishy so I hung up.
  I am so glad I thought to type in the phone number and see where it went. I am so glad I found this website and I am going to post it right away on my facebook, along with the 'cash advance' link...I hate to say it but I think my identity may have been compromised by them and a few other sites while I was trying to see if I could qualify for a payday loan. I was noticing there were not any 's's' ater a lot of the http:// web addresses. I am going to ontact my bank again abot this becase I have bee seeig way to many charges or $1.00 and $7.99 etc...there's way too many not to take notice of. I am also going to send emails to AL of the Pay Day/  Onloine Loan copaniesand let them know they have been reported and that my attorney will be handling my bank issues now. I am going to see if I an close my bank account and if anyone has suggestions on wha ele I can do please let me know. Cash Advance definitely contacted me by phone and I may have given them informaton like I now know "NOT TO DO..." It is really a terrible thing that there are not any laws to protect people like me from being so stupid. All I can say is that I have an $1800.00 power bill due tomorrow and I have been running scared trying to find a way to make my payment...I have NEVER faced so many difficulties before. I am on disability and facing foreclosure. This is the last thing I need to be worried about right now and the first thing I need to take care of. I hope my ignorance will stop other people from making these same  mistakes..I don't like showing everyone how gullible I am but please let it benefit someone else!

Just got a call from this number.They claimed that there i a legal financial case I've been reported for that is going to mak me wind up in court for 2 hours. If I wanted to know more I should hold on for a supervisor. I told them I wasn'tthe person they are looking for and hung up on them! Still unsure I de3cid to type in the number and see where it takes me...and here am! I hvenj['t rea any of the otherposts yet but I am pretty sure tis was one of those scare tactic collection agencies. I was harrassed by another one several years ago and they had me going for a little while until they started trying to ngotiateand then bully me ito paying. Irefused and hung up then too. I hope I did the right thing!  I sure don't think I've done anything to cause such a major ordeal!
