I got a call from a Tina Powell from this so-called Capital Investigations company saying that there was a complaint filed against me and that court action would be taken if I did not respond immediately.  The message sounded very real.  When I googled the number several sites came up with people saying that calls from this number are a scam. I found out if you are in real trouble with the courts you will be served written notice. Don't fall for this scam and don't give out any info!!  These other posts saying otherwise ARE JUST PART OF THE SCAM!!!   They also use the phone numbers 410-344-7742 and 216-393-0456.  Google those two phone numbers and you will see a bunch of other complaints.

Calling stating that there was a claim filed against me and that if I didn't respond within 48 hours, court actions against me would be filed. Provided me with a case #.

A woman called me from this number, said someone in ventura county filed a civil action against me in civil court and that I needed to contact her immediately. When I did the caller would not give me her name and would not tell me the nature of the suit. She told me that this law firm was n Maryland. She forwearded my call to an agent that could give me details in regards to the suit. My call went through to a voicemail too!

They called trying to collect on a debit owed by my ex. Unfortunately I fell for it because I no longer speak to him and it was a joint account. When I received nothing from them in writing and the ACH came across with a different name than who called me [Wolfburg and Stein], I alerted my bank AND stopped the payment, alerted my attorney and Lifelock. Advise? Check your credit report [it wasn't even on there because he had paid it], don't give out information unless you are calling them, be a smarter consumer!

Same here said that I would be prosecuted if I didn't return the phone call. When I did try and return in put me directly into a voicemail saying to leave my number so an agent could call me back.

Said I have to call them or I will be prosecuted. The number they gave to call back was 410-982-6838.
