They just called saying our email account has shown unusual activity and they are suspending it and sending us a letter in the mail telling how to fix it. They are also sending an Email to our preferred account to also show us how to stop this. Called the number back & got a recording about a sales offer they are calling about possible benefits of using it. Then to call an 800 # for more info.

Called this morning and left a voice mail message.  Claimed to be Verizon, saying we were receiving some kind of "reward" and to be on the lookout for it via email, and we can go to their website to claim it, etc.  Message claimed it was a reward for being a FIOS customer, and we do have FIOS, but the whole thing still sounds strange.

Got called from this number, said they were verizon yahoo and wanted me to change my pass word because of a problem with third party access to my account.  This is a scaam, contacted Verizon and they do not ever call you with this type of information or send e-mail.  I was asked to call 888-976-9143 which is not a Verizon number either.  Beware, do not talk to these people.

This number has called me at least 6 times today.  I keep disconnecting it, but they keep trying.  It somehow rings 10 times (past when my answering machine should pick up).  I have not changed my service with Verizon recently, so I am not waiting for any rewards.

Would you happen to know what stores would carry this particular type of phone (Panasonic Cordless phone) ? I don't mind spending a few extra bucks on a phone that will actually work.

I have read all of the posts here because I wanted to check the number before I called back.  I am a Verizon FiOS customer.  Well, I did and checked with a high school buddy of mine that works at Verizon if this was a scam or not.    It wasn't in my case.  After several years of being their customer, I changed my service to have a home phone.  In doing so, I received a visa gift card in the mail.  It is their rewards program.  Well, like any other company, I pay additional money every month, but I do get a visa gift card.  It covers about 2 months of added expense to my account.  Whoopie.  I still love their service as it's better than any other around my area.  Regardless, of who calls me, I NEVER GIVE OUT PERSONAL INFORMATION OVER THE PHONE.

Stop calling! If it is Verizon, I will get my service from someone else. I tell every company I deal with to put me on their Do Not Call list. By law, they must keep one and abide by it. I will vote with my feet and take my business elsewhere if they do not follow the law.

It may be from Verizon, but it is still a scam.  I was left a message that said they sent me an email to my verizon.net email address.  I don't even have a Verizon.net email address and haven't for years!  If they in fact did send me an email, why would they call my phone with an automated message telling me so!!!!  I would already know that if I had an email address through them, because I would actually receive it that way!!!

We've been getting HOUNDED by this number the past few days.  They're calling numerous times within an hour.  Finally forced myself to pick up the phone to find out who it was and why they were hounding us.  Naturally it was an automated caller announcing themselves as Verizon and that I needed to call an 800 number by the end of the month for some new Ultra Forward Service that I've subscribed to.

I've never subscribed to any such thing...so I have no idea what this is about.  It is to late in the afternoon now for me to call Verizon to verify any of this, and it's going into a weekend.  So Monday I'm going to ringing Verizon's phone off the hook in the hopes of getting some answers.

As with anything, be careful what you give out over the phone.  This call seems 'innocent' on the surface.  But they are wanting me to call an 800 number and use the last 4 digits of my phone number as a PIN...(Red flag)...

Verizon is one of the worst companies around never use their on line payment service as it does
not work all the time, and they do not even call to let you know you bill is do till they turn off your
services. Then they make like it is you who do not know how to use the service.
Another point about Verizon- DO AWAY WITH ALL YOUR COMPUTER ANSWERING, PEOPLE
SHOULD TRY TO GET A REAL LIVE PERSON TO TALK TO FROM THE COMPANY..
I HAVE FRIENDS WHO EVEN SCREAMED INTO THE PHONE " THEY WANT TO TALK TO A
PERSON" BEFORE FINALLY THEY GET A PERSON.
WHAT HAPPEN TO BEING FRIENDLY TO YOUR CUSTROMERS

We were called by this number today. Was not home to get the call. Based on the comments above, I seriously doubt any of those folks who claim they are getting some reward from Verizon are correct. Either they are part of the scam-trying to convince us to give personal information to this "legit" call-or they are clueless and don't realize they were scammed. Either way, don't give out your personal info, people. Just don't do it.

As people said previously, it's about a reward for signing up for service.  It's a stupid call considering they also send an email and obviously you'll just get the reward in the mail, but no one ever said Verizon was intelligent.

This is legit - I recently signed up for service with Verizon and they are sending a Visa card reward - it is updating you on the status of your  reward (it will call the phone # listed under Verizon account) - not a scam.

The Do-Not-Call List does not apply to companies with which you have a business relationship. If you have a Verizon service, they can call you.

Call the NY state attorney general at 1-800-771-7744 and the FTC at 1-877-382-4357.  Verizon is headquartered in NY, and neither office will do anything without a volume of complaints - let 'em have it!

Like one of the other people posting, it is Verizon Rewards program. I am awaiting a Visa gift card b/c I signed up for certain services. The Caller ID says Verizon on it. I answered the call b/c I am a Verizon customer. I always wait a few seconds and if no one responds (person or recorded message), I hang up. Why a big company would waste money calling people and not talking, I have no idea. It's stupid. 410 area code is Baltimore MD area.

They were calling incessantly today so i finally pickup up to beg them to stop.  Lo and behold, Rachel, the automated voice on the call, offered me within 20 seconds the option of pressing * to be put in their do-not-call list.  I did.  We'll see how it goes.  It might be worth a try.

Calls are now coming to my cell phone.  Only six people have my cell phone number in addition to the service provider, Verizon.  I'll be changing this bundle.  Comcast will pay me to switch.
