it's a scam. don't press 1 when prompted to, you are (unknowingly) agreeing to have your number distributed between telemarketers when you do so.

got an urgent recording about pressing one or two to update some sort of records and if we didn't respond then we may be liable for damages......thought it was a scam because no info was on the recording (name, company or number), so i'm glad i googled it!

this was some type of car warranty place which has nothing to do with the dealer or manufacture of my old car.  It was a recording that said press one to connect and 2 to disregard.  I pressed one and told them to take my name off their list.  They said have a good day and hung up immediately.  When I tried to call back, it was busy for several hours so I gave up.

I got the call yesterday at work, and again today at home. A local forum I belong to has a thread about it. Our town is being attacked by these telephone car warranty scam artists. Yesterday I just hung up. Today I pressed one. Got a smart alec heifer on the other end. Told her the entire town was getting a harrassment suit against her company. The sow hung up on me. Maybe she'll step in front of a bus on her way home.

I just recieved a similar phone call and pushed one.  I would like to know if anyone who pushed one has had additional charges on their phone bills?  Do I need to contact my phone provider?

I just received a similar phone call, but from a different number.  Was there any additional charges on your phone bill after you pushed one?  I just did before I read this column and would like to know if I need to contact my phone provider.

I also got the same call... but it was on my answering machine.  I tried calling the number back to no avail (always busy).  I would love to talk to whomever is running this scam to give them a thought or two.

Just recieved call on our business line.  I pushed 1 and was asked for the year and make, I asked who I speaking to and he hung up quickly.  I atttempted to call the number back and I is always busy.  I have also recieved this on my fax line.

My parents received this same call on 2/20/08.  My mother said it sounded like a recording of a woman yelling about "having to take care of this or you'll be liable."  My dad tried to call the # several times but got a busy signal.  Most definitely a scam of some kind.

But, I may have gone into that site.  Not long after I signed off the computer, the scam call came in.  BUT - explain this - the computer is on a second phone line, the call came in on the main phone line.

Caller ID showed "Unknown," female voice sounded mechanical/automated, tried to rush me into pressing 1 or 2, NOW, to immediately clear up the matter of my car warranty expiring.  Need to clear up the matter immediately or I may be liable for past repairs.  Very insistent.  I disconnected the call.
AFTER READING OTHER ENTRIES HERE...I was on the internet today to research info on my car's clutch and looking for an Owner's Manual. At one point an AUTOWARRANT site was listed, but I don't recall actually going to that site.

got the call at 9:00 PM, car warranty had expired and needed to clear this up immediatly press 1 etc. Just hung up and called back for awhile,line was always busy,found this site with other people receiving the same call.Must be a scam!!!

Same experience, but I reported them to the DO NOT CALL REGISTRY, they will be able to investigate. Everyone with a land line phone should be registered on that list. It is effective.

I live in NY and just received this call.  I pushed 1 and was also hung up on.  I tried calling the number listed on caller ID and it was busy.  I will be filing a complaint.  Definitely a scam.

I didn't answer. I am also on the DO NOT CALL LIST. I was feeling pretty good...no junk calls in about 3 weeks, til this.

An associate who I work with got the call around 9am yesterday. Same deal about an auto warranty. They need to be shut down.

Received call at 4:28PM today. As others it was concerning auto warranty. I haven't had a warranty for over a year. Just hung up without pressing any numbers. Used the https://www.donotcall.gov/complaint/complaintcheck.aspx website to file a complaint.

Called me and said my warranty was about to expire, what was the year, make and model of my car.  I said, well if you know that my warranty is about to expire, why don't you know what the year, make and model of my car is?  I could hear a loud bang as the hamster in the wheel powering her brain suffered an embolism.  She then hung up on me.

We just received this call and the number came up as unlisted on the caller ID.

On the no call list - did not say anything to them beyond hello.  Again as others, a pushy voice pressing 1 about auto warranty.

Just got the same call -- in New Hampshire.

Call went to voicemail and I deleted the message and moved on.

I'm in  upstate New York.  I've been called twice in 15 minutes. One time about warranty and repairs; another time about waranty expiring.  My car is 10 years old.  I knew it was a scam. The number traced like the rest to Allegany, PA.  I erased the messages.

I just got the same call in NY 5 mins ago...sometimes when you push one you are opening a connection to your phone for them to use..and then they can make calls wherever...never ever use 1 to call back...first of all, it's way overpriced to use it..
*69 is high enough but at least you can retrieve their number. As others have said...report it...or anything similar

Got the same rude call today in Alabama.  I just hung up then wondered who I owed and if I was being sued so came on here to find out who it was.

I just got the phone call , pressed one and got this sassy lady on the other side. I told her How do I know she is who she says she's? She got all angry and asked me if she really has time to call people for fun. I said yes cause she was nothing but a worthless person trying to steal people's information. I then told her she will be reported immediately, and I did with the donotcall website. She hung up on me, What is going on with this world??
