I received a call on March 19th at an old address and I happen to know the person who lives there now who gave me the message.  It was from a Joe Barrow or Barone, regarding check account fraud.  I called the number they left  and it was a recorded name and I left a vm to call back on another number. They did call me back on the 20th and when I spoke to "Joe" I was transferred to a woman who mumbled some company name and asked me to confirm the last 4 digits of my social security number, saying that she had several and I refused, insisting that she instruct me on the nature of the call first. She said she would only do so, if I confirmed a social security number's last four digits. I refused again so she said that since I'm being uncooperative she would serve me with a warrant and hung up.  I called back and spoke to "Joe" again and told him that I believed this was a scam, would be reporting him and hung up...

Regardless of the nature of the business the person is supposed to clearly identify themselves, provide you with details as to the nature of your calls and cannot under any circumstances discuss social security numbers and threaten legal action if you refuse. They would also have correct contact information and this is how I realized it was a scam.  What I found upsetting is how professional they tried to sound, until I insisted on information from them, and then they changed their tune.

Called me 3/11/2014 threatening me with check fraud if I don't pay $650 by Friday and that there are civil and criminal suits against me in my county. I called my county and they informed me that they're were no charges
