This is from the UNHCR agency from the US.  I'm subscribed to giving them donations every month, but recently I was issued a new credit card and forgot to update them with the new number.  They reached out to me since they could not process my donation.

Call is legitimate.

Called me twice today. My daughter answered.
She let them do their whole spiel, and then said "I'm only 14 and don't have any money."
That cut the call short. It's good to waste their time.

These people have called me several times a week for a month or two now.  I didn't order or look at a Kindle. Who are they? Why does the phone ring three times and they hang up?

Who profits from non-profits ? Those that derive their livelihood from them. That is who. After they pay themselves, which
constitutes legitimate expense, there is a bit left for the purposes of the non-profit - if donors are lucky. Pick carefully when
anybody wants money or personal information of any kind. Often less than 10% goes to those purposes.

The website for the organization associated with this phone number, pic1.com, is alive but presents a blank page. It has gimmickry built in to prevent exploration. The website is registered with the Internet registrar as shown below. The registrant, Public Interest Communications, is located in Falls Church, VA; here are a few phone numbers for anyone who wants to return the favor. Their website server is located offshore (British Virgin Islands), and I suspect their auto-dialer is, as well, thus they need not comply with FCC regulations. I wish I had an autodialer of my own...

I can NOT believe they called again and again. Three (3)? what is wrong with them to keep calling? They called on 3/31/14 & 4/02/14 and no messages. They will probably never leave a message and hoping they will just stop calling since I have no plans of ever answering them, since I see who is calling me.

Try calling 703-847-8300 to reach Public Interest Communications, then if you can't reach a real person, dial ext 330# for Natasha Mankin.  She got my number remove  from their call list in one day!

From what I see from other people that have been called by this phone#, they must be a telemarketer. They called this evening @ 7:39 pm and of course left no message. Gee, I am not surprised at all, they never do. I wish being on the Do NOT Call List worked. I guess since it is free for us to get on, you cannot expect it to work, OR these telemarketers could care less and do NOT bother to look at the list.  They will get no where with me because I won't be answering calls from them at all.

This number called me more than once today. I did not answer, so got no message from them. But more than once per day is technically harassment. They need to be reported and stopped.

Some strategies:

1. If your phone system offers a service like per-number forwarding, use it to forward the calls to the FCC like mentioned above.

2. If you can only forward all calls, get a Google Voice number and forward all calls to that number.  Use the Global Spam Filtering option there, which tells Google to send any text messages or voice messages taken that are from known spammers to the Spam folder. Under Anonymous Callers you can set a rule to not ring to any of your phones and just take the voice mail.  If you want you can have a different recorded message greet people in this group.  (This last strategy works best if you already use gmail to keep your contacts including their phone numbers up to date)

3. If your phone has Caller ID, don't pick up any calls you don't recognize.  This works if it's just a few calls per day and is the lazy person's way to go.

I like Google Voice solution best, since you get to treat friends and family differently from people you don't know.

very mysterious calls all the time.   I would like to invoice them for every call, then their trolling would get expensive.

I've been getting calls from this number almost every day. No messages are ever left. I'm already on the "do not call" list, and I'll tell you what I learned about it. The list is basically useless b/c companies, nonprofit organizations, and collection demons will always find a way around the rules that govern the "do not call" list criteria and contact you anyway. That's why we're all here venting over the confusion and frustration. The "do not call" list is a joke to say the least. It's a false sense of security designed to placate the consumer. We're going to be stuck dealing with these a-holes ourselves as we always have in whichever way works best for him or herself. Ok, my rant is done. Thanks.
