There is another post very similer to the complaints here. The # is 724-835-8343. They claim to be affiliated with Penelec, but they are not. I think they are looking for personal info. (This # is in Hermanie,PA.)

They keep calling my cellphone saying they are from Duquesne Light and have information on my electric bill. They call several times a day. Duquesne Light is not even my supplier.

Same thing here! I've told the company 3 times that they aren't my supplier and they say they will take me off the list but I still keep getting calls. I called the number back and it is 'no longer in use. I called the company they are claiming to be, waited on hold for 1/2 hour, and they knew nothing about the calls. They don't even have service where I live!

It could be "spoofing". Basically, someone routing a call to you through a discontinued tel number so he/she can't be traced. I got that a few days ago, too. Spoofing is something that the FCC suggests people report to them. I did an online file complaint, but you can call or mail in a complaint about being called from a disconnected number. The information the website asks for are very general: time of call (just look at caller ID), telephone number, the number you were called at, and the date. I think if you can't remember all the details they won't care. They just want to make people aware of scams.

For your information, a Test Code can be created by anyone; check the internet. It is a computer-base system that sets up a dummy ring to a phone. If the person calls this Fake tel number, it sets up a loop and a string of information about the individual who called. Do not call Test Code telephone numbers back. Any company, organization, or individual can create a mock object.

My caller ID revealed only the number; no name was shown. I did not answer the phone. The message was from an electric company offering a discount on my electric bill.

It is called "mocking" ;your telephone is being used as a mock object. If you call back , a computer string of info is released to thaat "dummy" telephone account number. Just call once and they have the info that they need. I got a call ,too. I reported it to the Fcc, but it this system is also used by the govenment, too. Be careful.
