Phone rang, nobody was on the other end so I hung up

Got a call from this number but there was no one at the other end. It was just silent.

Called by this number several times, mildly annoying.

Called by this number, heard people talking in background, they said nothing, I hung up.

It's one of those paid collection agencies.  They are collecting for Veterans.  How do I get OFF THEIR LIST is what I'd like to know.

Got a call from this number. The man stated he was calling on behalf of my local volunteer Fire Dept. He new my name, he new the Town.....  It's all a fraud.

this number keeps calling me several times a day, and I can tell it is a call center dialer, but noone says anything. Maybe i hang up too quickly, but that 's ok. I gave at the office!

Been getting calls from this number, my voice mail picks up and there nothing but this wooshing sound. when I called it back, I got a recording saying the number is out of service but they keep calling.!

These are the people that call me about the VFW. Now I can call them. You can, too! The call comes up as 413-497-4480 on caller ID.

We answered but the person didn't speak and just hung on the line.

It's from the american vets looking for donations.

413-497-4480-   Insisted that if the VFW wanted money they send something in the mail.  The did, but, in checking this is he VFW, Inc.  5 people probably taking the money.  Called the VFW Boston- called Verizon.  No one knows anything.  Verizon thinks my number was sold!  (unlisted and unpublished)

Received a call today from 413-497-4480. Supposed to be the VFW.  Four calls recently.  I finally answered because with cell phones I cannot keep the numbers straight.  They wanted $20 and did not like that I said "send me something in the mail"  They really wanted a credit card.  Also, knew me by name and I have an unpublished number. Will post again if anything shows up in the mail.  Further investigation to follow.

Just got a call from this number saying they were seeking donations to the vfw. I asked him how much of my doller goes to the VFW and how much he gets. "I can answer that. It depends how much we receive in total."  I kept pushing with no results.  He finally hung up on me.

I just got a call fm 413-497-4480, strange thing is I had just got off the phone with a operator who told me to call my buss office in the am. Not 45 secs later my phone rings and low and behold its 413-497-4450. Its a V.F.W. loking got donations. They asked for me by name, where they got my name is beside me, so there u go.

Just got a call from this number.  The caller ID said "Call Center, MA."  I didn't get to the pone in time to answer it but after reading the stuff here I hope they call back so I can mess with them! :D

This number has been calling several times a day every day for thew last week and every time I answer it ther is no one there.

I Agree not answering numbers that you do not know, but then this is a local number (413) 497-4480 and so therefor you tend to answer local calls. Also I have everyone's number in "speed dial" and "phone book" in my phones, most people I talk to everyday I can't remember their # cus I never dial it.

It is a toss up!! But we are getting this call at least a few times a week and late at night. It is annoying.

so I called them back.  IT give a 800 number to reach them at.  They always ask for my roommate.....i guess he donated money to them in the past and thats why they keep calling.  I usually tell them he is off to war with the muffin man....they are battling the stay puff dude and michelin tire guy.

the number is serviced by RNK Communications out of Dedham. I spoke with them and they checked thier records and there was no calls from that number to me... but my caller id clearly said 413-497-4480. They said the caller must have cloaked' his caller ID- not sure if this is true. My next step is to call my phone company in the AM and have them pull up the Call Detail Record (CDR) and find out where the call originated from. I will post more when i find it out.

Received a call from this number: the person asked for someone who does not live in my house hold. When I said that they have a wrong number, she said that it was the number she wanted and attempted to talk further.  I asked how they got my number (which is unpublished). She replied that it was automatically generated.  At that point I replied that our conversation was over and hung up.  They have not called back yet.

This number calls about 2 times a day.  He knew us by first name...really creepy.  He was looking for money for veterans.  We are on the no call list, but this number is still calling

I've gotten three calls from these people in the past hour. What can be done?

Stealth CallerID is a great program that runs on PC. It blocks unwanted calls while announcing all other calls via the PC speakers. Also allows you to have program email/text msg you who called house while you are gone. You can choose who to call back.

Yeah. got a call from these guys and they claimed they were from some veterans association and that we've given them money in the past.  Bull!

The strange thing is they knew how to say my last name properly, which is rare indeed.  Makes me wonder how well they know us.

I receive many calls from this place, also.  Yeah, we must all be on some list of potential people to scam.  Too bad we can't find out where they are so we can all pay them a visit.  (Nothing like a good mob scene!)

I think I'll either get myself a whistle or just press the star key until they hang up.

I receive multiple calls from this number on a daily basis.  I don't answer the phone if I don't recognize name/number, but it's still a huge  pain in the a**.  Gotta LOVE caller ID!!  Does anyone remember in the "old days" when you got a call of a "questionable nature" you were told to blow a whistle into the phone??  That sounds like fun!!!

When I posted info about call this AM from 888-875-4520, I found it is the same scam as this number when someone actually talks with them.
