OOPS!   414-342-0347 is the # that came thru on the caller ID.   The # that was left in the message is:
877-796-3485.   FINALLY, they're being more truthful...

This # has come thru about 3 or 4 times B/4, but today they left a message..   The call came thru today,
10-30 @ 11:33A Central Time.   It came thru on the caller ID as Privacy Manager.   I let the answering machine pick up & got this message..   "To verify, this is  Romney For President  office calling.
Phone #,  414-342-0347".

This is just one of many phone numbers that constantly call my house & hangs up. The caller ID shows "Privacy Manager", & if I pick up, it's a recording that says to press 1, in which case nothing happens. If I dial the number, I get a recording saying it's been disconnected. Yet the calls never stop.

I received a call from this number ON MY CELL PHONE today.  I don't have any kind of Privacy Manager on my cell.  So, I am more inclined to believe that this is some main trunk phone number for AT&T and people are accessing it or that people are faking the caller ID knowing that the
number does not accept incoming calls.

Long posting, but please read carefully.

There may be 3 different scenarios here:

First thing:
414-342-0347 is the number that will appear for calls that are intercepted by AT&T's Privacy Manager for Wisconsin subscribers.  Privacy Manager is a feature provided by the local telephone company.  Calls that would normally appear as "UNKNOWN CALLER" or "OUT OF AREA" will be intercepted by a recording that asks for the caller to state their name.  They are then placed on hold.  Your phone rings and a recording will come on playing that caller's name (or whatever they may have said at the time when it was recording their name--so an automated dialer would cause you to hear just a "clip" of their automated message) giving you the choice of (1) answering the call, (2) rejecting the call, or (3) playing the "this caller does not accept sales calls" message.

So, if you hear a recording indicating that this is Privacy Manager, and you don't know what that is, you may wish to check with your phone company as is possible you are paying for a feature you didn't ask for.

Second possibility:
AT&T's line that displays this number, normally used for Privacy Manager, is somehow being accessed from outside and calls are being made on this line.  I wonder if they even know...


Third possibility:
This caller is sending fake Caller ID information.  This is completely plausible--the technology available for it.

I got a call on 7/31 around 10am.  I did not answer right away as I did not recognize the number.  When I picked up, there was a delay and it said something about "dial 1 to".  I hung up before they said anything else.  Then I got a call a few minutes later from a friend who said they had just tried to call me and got a message that wouldn't let them through and referred to "my" privacy manager.  I have never heard of privacy manager before.  So it not only called me, it intercepted my incoming call.  Altho another possibility is that is that the call was really somehow associated with my friends call to me.  I think the "kidkaz" report sheds the most light on this.  Hope they don't call again.

we keep getting called by this number, they use privacy manager, it asks for me to push the number 1 to hear them, after pushing number 1 I hear them but cant make it out and they hang up

Irritating...kind of ironic...I had 5 phone calls after that to my cell phone that came up private.  It was 1 am

Called 9/2/08 at 1:18 a.m.!!!!!  Called one day at 5:00 a.m.  How do we get them to stop???????????

This number calls in the middle of the night usually around midnite.  How can we stop this?

Just file a complaint with the Do Not Call List in your area.

This number calls at all times, day or night, and when answered, just silence. Very irritating!

This number calls multiple times a day and night. Sometimes it rings once or twice, other times it rings longer. No one is ever on the line.

We received a call today from 414-342-0347, and have many times in the past. But today was different!  Listen up!  This time I answered the phone and a woman who said she was from the State of WI asked information about one of our relatives whom she knew had moved out of this state. She knew more information than I did. I told her (honestly) that I didn't know the relative's whereabouts. If she hadn't already known so much, I wouldn't have ever talked to her.  She admitted to never having met this relative face to face but that she'd had some dealings with her and needed to contact her.  I'm glad I didn't know.    I did try to re call the number that the woman used to contact us, and was told that the number wasn't available to outside calls.

This number is a relay number that someone you know is calling it go's though this number first.
Privacy Manager is manageing the call and it's usally a friend or family member from out of town State Country.

I just recieved a call from 414-342-0347 (this is not the first time), but they left a message this time. A Mr Donald Sathem, stated he had a cashiers check for me and that he was from the International Humanity Services (?). To recieve this check I am to call 775-410-0872. Which I will Not do !!  I have no clue who this is and I have not entered any contests. I owe no one any money. But I do get collection calls for my x-husband, which I've been divorced from for 25 years, and he lives on the east coast and I live in centeral US.

I received a call from this # @ 5:52P today.    I wasn't home, but they left a message:   "the caller has hung up, you may hang up anytime or if you were on another call, press the receiver button to return to us now."   No further message was left.

Recv'd call at 8:18pm on 11/7/09. My privicy manager prompt me to press 1..I hear static, garble voice... I spoke and got no answer...I heard music from the TV in the background.

I dialed *67 and then 1-414-342-0347.  I got a recording that said this number "is not in service for incoming calls."  I have seen this number on my caller ID several times even though I have Privacy Manager and I'm on the State and Federal Do Not Call lists.  The caller never leaves a message do I don't know who they are.  I don't pick up the call because I don't recognize the number and I think it's extremely questionable that they don't take incoming calls.  This is some sort of scam and they seem to enjoy harassing people.

Got this call on Sunday/actually Monday 9/21/09 at 1:03 am. Scared the heck out of me. By the time I got to the phone no one was there. I have caller ID. It said a Wisconsin Call. After a little searching on the internet today I discovered it is a collection Agency in WI by the name of State Collection Agency. They have a 800 number also= 800-963-4194. They collect on unpaid Medical bills beside other bills. My mother-in-law died in May. My husband is taking care of her bills. He has to wait till a bill is submitted to Medicare as well as a supplimental insurance. Then he pays the balance if there is any. For these people to call at 1 in the morning is horrible. I will be reporting them to the FTC.

I received a call from 414-342-0347 on July 15, 2009, at 8:42 p.m. at night. I recognize this as a Milwaukee (WI) area code. The caller left an incomplete recording that just stated 4 digits and with a "Goodbye" that had an angry tone to it.  I certainly am not going to call this number back as the male voice that stated the four digits and goodbye had an angry tone and he did not identify himself or company or organization that the call came from. Don't return these calls as they are highly suspicious in nature.

Calls received at least once a day, sometimes more.  If I answer, there is a privacy manager recording which I never get on any other phone call.  If I choose the option they give, I begin hearing a message, mid-sentence.  Very annoying!!

received numerous calls from this number and every time you pick up there's no one there. whats the deal?? what am I supposed to do?

Recieved several calls for this number.  At times it's male voice which is scary...can't make out the words.  Other times is's a recorded message, then hangs up.  What happens when you report this.  If it continues, what is my recourse?  Please advise.  PZM

even when this # shows up on your caller id it is not the # the person is calling from.  it is a fake # so it could be anyone calling.  i had my phone line traced and the actual call was coming from a different cell phone #.  if the calls are repetive call the police to get a case # and then you can call the Annoyance Call Bureau and they can put a trace on your phoen

Rec'd 3 phone calls from this number.  Be careful when Privacy Manager answers this person is saying the name of a family member?  Odd how were protected by Privacy Manager.

scsi. collection agency? they left a message for us to call an 800 number. (800) 963-4194

Received a call from them at 10:45 am and privacy manager showed on my ID. When I answered the phone, they hung up. I called the number back and they said it was not a working number! How can that be?

Just received a call this afternoon twice from same number. Same deal they hung up on me both times.
