Forget the DNC list. It has had so many holes poked in it by the telemarketing lobby that it's useless. They cried and complained to the FTC and Congress that this was their most effective form of generating sales and that the DNC registry threatened their ability to do business. Since then, restrictions have been eased and this is why we all continue to receive unsolicited calls. I've given up and changed my home phone number and NEVER give it out under any circumstance. If it's required (for instance, an online purchase or any type of registration) I give them Hollywood's 555 exchange and it always satisfies.

recorded message gives some statistic about the number of drug & alcohol abusers are in each home. Press 1 if you are addicted to drug or alcohol and "2" to have your name removed from the list. I'm on the DO NOT CALL LIST, so I have filed a complaint.

How do you know why people come to this site? Speak for yourself, Mr. Know-it-all. I for one like to see how many people have been called, what happened if they answered, and what message, if any, was left on their voice mail. Maybe some of these numbers with multiple pages of posters will get some attention. If only one or two people post because they have vital information to share (by your standards) I doubt the number will get any attention at all. And haven't you ever heard of venting? For me, this was the FIFTH scam call I received today, a new record, and I just want to yell "STOP!" and this is as good a place as any to do it. Come down off your high horse and be more understanding of folks who, like myself, are sick of these phone calls and totally frustrated because of having no real, workable solution. Have a nice day, you grouch.

Lawsuit won't stop them... JAIL TIME might. There's a new device that intercepts suspicious calls and asks for the caller to enter a code number to prove that they are not a robocall... the inventor won 1/2 of the $50,000 prize offered by FCC. The other winner's solution was more complicated and expensive. The technology should be available to the public soon (4/16/13).

4/113, 410 PM, called before. SERVICE CALL-what service? Every one of these callers have different do not call numbers -this one was 5.
I'll bet they call again.

Caller ID reads, Service Call.
I picked up, they hung up. They called the following day, didn't leave message on answering machine.

Forgot one other thing, file a complaint with your state Attorney General Consumer Protection Division. They do investigate all complaints and will get back with you just as the FCC does. After all of this you can/may be able to take legal action against the company.
gettingeven 2013-04-08 13:16:56 Unknown
Unfortunately, making an appointment establishes a business relationship which will allow the company in question to continue call you for up to 36 months (which the law allows).
I always tell them to put me on their DNC list. Then I file complains with the FTC (www.donotcall.gov), and the FCC (form 1088).
I know there are people that say that this will get you no where and to them I ask have you even tried?

Excellent work and make sure there are pieces of paper fluttering on all their desks. They do nothing about this and Bandwidth.com could have these people OFF within minutes as a CLEC. They won't because THEY are making money off the same scam. Bandwidth.com need to be mentioned on the documents you submit to all these people, including the data here as proof. That way they are part of a RICO fraud, so we can get them. Then when they don't we will have to have face to face chats with these feds and AGs.

Same # (414-465-2980) with NEW approach ! No longer calling about crime & security ... now the
recorded message advises that the 'NIH' reports an increase in DRUG & ALCOHOL abuse...if you or a loved one have suffered from....yada yada yada...press 1 to be connected; press 2 to be added to their DNC list ! When I report this call, it will be to the FTC and my state AG, maybe Wisconsin as well, as (1) unsolicited illegal advertising, (2) possible telemarketing scam, (3) potentially illegal advertising for medical or legal help, and/or (4) fraudulent use of acronym for the National Institute of Health.

They called me and I asked them to please call my home number and not my work number. I gave them the phone number of our local police.
jake 2013-04-05 01:42:06 Unknown
I reported them to the police and told them that they made a terrosit threat to do harm to me and my family.

This call came in on my cell phone!!! It's the same Securities Technologies origin and scam. I Totally resent they are using my cell - I've gotten a dozen calls, all from different normal-looking numbers. I finally began tracing them through this site and found they all are the same scam. They must hire people from around the country to do this. I'm calling Better Business Bureau in the morning for advice. Perhaps we all should do this.

They call to see if your number is a valid number. If you answer, then they can sell this number to telemarketers. I forward these calls to a non-working number. Then they get a message that says this is not a good number.

I have something far better than their security system. It has eight legs and is large and furry.
Fabric 2013-04-03 22:22:46 Unknown
Good Idea. These people are calling to verify valid phone numbers, so they can sell the list to telemarketers. I call forward thes kind of calls to a non-working phone number which gives them the message "This is a non-working nmber.

Note that in their AUP, they state "in Bandwidth.com's sole discretion". Considering that, it is ACTIVE collaboration. RICO beckons...

I just talked to the people at Bandwidth and they said to go here:
http://bandwidth.com/resources/legal/policy_violations.html
fill in the complaint form and submit it.
That's a fine idea but everyone needs to call 800-808-5150 and complain as well as threaten and then follow through with filing with the FCC against bandwidth for conspiring to commit fraud - they are, after all, aiding and abetting the scammers.
