I have to respond to this, because a couple people have posted that this might not be a scam, but just annoying telemarketing.  I'm quite convinced it is a scam, and here's why:

I started receiving calls about "healthcare", "dental care", and "insurance cards" about a year ago.  I never answer the phone if I don't recognize the number, but a few times they left messages.  I also don't return messages if they don't make sense so I never talked to anybody and what I know about them is just the limited information that was in the message.

I started seeing a pattern to the numbers - they were rarely toll-free numbers and the area codes kept changing, even when the message stayed the same.  I occasionally would look up the numbers on 800notes.com or similar websites and people were always posting the same stuff about these numbers:  health insurance, dental insurance, dead air, Press 1 to be removed from the list and incomplete messages (when they leave a message - which they usually don't).

Last month I started keeping a spreadsheet of all the unknown calls I get.  I went back through my phone records and found every missed or received call from an unknown number since mid-July (as far back as I could get), did enough research to filter out any that are legit, and added them to the spreadsheet.  Since July 18, I've received 62 calls from 28 different phone numbers (including a few 800's and area codes from all over the place).  All are similar to the calls described in the notes above.  I received 5 calls from 414-877-1580 in July & August of this year.  Unfortunately, at that time I wasn't keep track of whether or not they left a message.

I've also read briefly about Caller ID Spoofing - find out more here:  http://www.fcc.gov/guides/caller-id-and-spoofing - which means that whoever is placing these calls is hiding their real phone number.  So, you tell me, if this is just annoying telemarketing and not a scam, then why are they hiding their real phone number?  If they're not hiding their real number then they are changing it, or else they have a lot of numbers to call from.  Why do they call from so many different numbers?  It's a scam.  I have no doubt about it.

What's more, they tell you to press 1 to be removed from the call list.  I'd love to hear from somebody that actually had the calls stop after they pressed 1.  It's possible that pressing 1 does something entirely different - like sign you up for a service or something.

Can't block incoming calls to iPhones w/out paying $4.99 monthly fee...  I created a contact named "Spam" and save the numbers that calls like this come from to that contact so when they call again it will come up on my phone as "Spam" and I know I can ignore it.

The calls I got were definitely not humans - just robo-calls that sounded almost real at first... As soon as you vary from their script the call either terminates or you get a bizarre answer.  Still annoying.

THIS NUMBER KEEPS CALLING MY CELL PHONE AND WHEN YOU ANSWER NO ONE IS THERE AND THEY CONTINUALLY CALL SEVERAL TIMES A DAY......MAKE THEM STOP PLEASE!!!!!

Here's how I handle calls from telemarketers on my cell phone. I save them under the contact: Telemarketer! Then, I change the ringtone to: Crickets. That way, whenever they call again, if I hear crickets chirping, I know it's a telemarketer, so no need to bother getting up to answer the calls. Eventually, perhaps they will take me off their list since I never answer. I've got several saved, it's an ongoing process. But now, the telemarketer calls make me smile instead of cringe, because when I hear crickets chirping, I feel like I've outsmarted them. Hope this helps someone else.

They call 1-5 times a day, it's ridiculous and it's been going on for months now!! If you immediately hang up on them, they just call right back repeatedly until they get your voicemail!! AAAGGHHHHH MAKE IT STOPPP

No one on 800Notes can block numbers.  This is a site to list complaints.  Contact y\our phone company.  They may have a solution.

I get calls from this number and other numbers like this one.  Please stop the calls.

Wonderful little app available through Playstore called Mr.Number. Use this app to block these kids of numbers.

this number has been coming up on caller ID several times a day for the past 6 months.

Someone has called trying to sell either health or dental insurance.  I've repeatedly asked to be taken off their calling list.  They call weekly.

Look, if you want to stop the calls just enter that number into your contact list, name it something like junk 1 2 or 3 , then go to the ring setting and enter none. It will not ring, you wont know they called, it wont wake yo up and on and on. You will never hear from them again.

i understand they have a job to do but don't be rude and once you tell them to take your number off their's call list, they should respect that.

I've received numerous calls from this number, I answered once and talked to some one who tried to sell me dental insurance, I tried to tell her to stop calling and she hung up on me!!

Bobby i have answered the call and the woman pam is actually a computer generated script not a woman i have purchased this plan i did get screwed and i had to fight several weeks to get my money back threatening to use a lawyer or my bank to collect it.Now after i have cancelled and finally got my money back requested they remove my number etc. My phone is steadily getting called for theyre DENTAL and HEALTH plan. So YES i can personally say its a scam.

This number calls me 14 or 15 times a day. hoe do I stop them and how did they get my number. sometimes they put a number 1 in front of the number 1 414 877 1580 or just 414 877 1580....please make them stop..

I called them back and got someone, then I called back 20 more times telling them that my cat needed insurance for a individual plan but that she was pregnant and I will eventually need a family plan. They weren't to Amused. So I kept calling and said that my dog and cast just got into a fight and I had to kick the dog of the vary and knocked out one of his teeth. And also that he might have a cavity and might need a root canal and if they covered that. Of course they hung up on me so I called back and heard them in the back ground saying"yeah that's the guy"and some guy answered and started to insult me. So I told him as long as I keep them tied up they can't bug anyone else. Which made my day great.
