The message I got sounded like a computer-generated voice--for one thing, she said she was from the "eye-ARR-ess," which isn't the way real humans pronounce it. I've (unfortunately) dealt with the real IRS in the past, and this isn't how they operate. Block.

Just got a call from this number. Sounded just like the posts with IRS discrepancy and I should not disregard the message.

"Don't dodge this call, or we will initiate legal action". This call is NOT from IRS, it's a scam.

Got a call from 415-251-4089 and asked me to call Kenneth Westley at 415-251-8730 and even gave me a case no.  Claimed that I owed taxes from the last 5 years on an IRS investigation.  I did not call back.

HAVE RECEIVED MANY CALLS FROM THIS NUMBER, NONE OF WHICH DID I ANSWER.  THIS AFTERNOON (6-16) THERE WAS ANOTHER CALL.  A WOMAN WITH A HEAVY EAST GERMAN ACCENT LEFT THE MESSAGE TO CALL THE IRS BEFORE LEGAL ACTION WAS STARTED.  RETURN CALL SHOULD BE MADE TO:  415-251-2995.  

Really a scam.  Don't give them the time of day.

My parents had received a call from (415)251-4089 and left a message.  Since my parents don't speak English very well, they gave me the number and I returned the call.  
When I called the (415) number, some heavy Indian accent guy picked up and claimed to be an IRS agent, and asked for my parents' phone number that received the call.  He then proceeded to tell me that my dad owed IRS money and there is a warrant issued, and threatened to have the police to show up at their house to arrest him, and told me that my dad has to go to court OR settled outside of court.  Once I asked about the settlement outside the court and what does it entailed, he pretended to transfer me to the "Restitution Department"; all he REALLY did was just passing the phone over to another Indian guy to speak to me.  The second Indian guy was rude and demanding, demanded that if I choose to settle outside of court, I have to pay the amount of $2563.25 NOW!  Since I kept on questioning him and asking a lot of questions about 'what is going on', 'I don't understand', 'how do I know you are calling from IRS', and he hung up the phone!!!

My dad received two phone calls from this number.  The first one was asking for me (I don't live with my father for 30 years now).  The second call on the same day was a message from that number saying they were the IRS looking for my dad (who is 70 years old) because of a tax discrepancy.  Thankful for this page.  We are now sure that this is NOT a number to call back.

Just got a call, it was mechanical, saying that I have to call back immediately or risk litigation. Thanks for the head's up on this scam, greatly appreciated.

I also got a call, yesterday late afternoon, from this guy saying he was also from IRS with a threatening sort of way that I better call back or etc.     I still have message on answering machine so I didn't want it to erase.  The only change I had made lately was on facebook but can't say for sure that was it.

I received a call from 415-251-4089 saying they were from the IRS.  And they didn't sound legitimate so I hung up and looked up the number and found this message board (thank you!) to confirm it's a scam.  

I recently had issues with my internet provider and spent time speaking to customer service reps located in India.  Perhaps that's how they got my phone number.

Beware!  This is a SCAM IRS agent/officer call!.  Never provide information over the phone.  If the IRS wants to contact you officially, it will come via certified mail and/or a preset physical appointment.  I wish the Feds would find these folks and stick them in jail!  Wake up NSA!  Investigate (415) 251-4089!!!!!!!!!!!!

This person called saying he was from the IRS and that my tax return had problems.
It sounded very fishy and the person did not speak English very well with a hotline return number. It did not sound legitimate to me.

This number called me about 5 times today claiming to be the IRS, leaving several voice messages and even burping, yes burping between sentences. Finally at the fifth call I picked up and this gentleman threatened to come to my home to see if I lived there.

They are located in India and are beyond the reach of US laws.

This is a scam. Please don't give them any of our information.  I was very happy to see this blog, because it vindicated my suspicions that this call was a scam.

As preciously stated, they warn you not to ignore the call, and when I called back and asked for information they will not provide you with any...as Chris Tyler indicated to me they are not allowed to fax or email the legal documents, but the police will provide all the documentation when they come to arrest you. Interestingly enough, they left 2 messages, but after I looked up my missed calls there are many calls from the 415-251-4089 number.

I got a call today from this Indian guy claiming to be David Jackson from the IRS and wanted to speak to me about my fraudulent claim. I told him that I never got the certified email stating the lawsuit etc. I told him I'd talk to my husband and call him back but figured it was a scam. He told me to call his supervisor at that same number, which I won't.

"Heather Grey"  left a message statin g she was an IRS agent from 415-251-4089, Novato, CA.  and that I should return her call 415-251-2995.  I did call that number and received a no longer in service message.  She gave me a warning regarding legal action if she was ignored.  

I got several voice mails from a caller from 415-251-9738 but gave 415-251-4089 as the call back number.  Like the others have said, middle eastern accent, using a variation in name, he claimed to be Michael Johnson from the IRS.  Message was the same.  IRS will send a notice, not call.

I got this call at 3:56 pm on June 5th.  This recorded message has told me to call 415-251-2599.  If you return this call, we will take legal action.  Please don't disregard this message.  I didn't answer the call.

Got a call from this number today, they used a computer generated voice with the same message as mentioned above, about being from the IRS and that I owed money. That's funny I just received my refund from the IRS, so how do I owe money.

I got a call from the same number this morning and it seems to be a scam.

thank you and all others who confirmed this scam. we were alert enough to decipher, but others may not- IRS, isn't it a federal offense to impersonate a  federal agency?  Advise the FBI be placed on notice about this number.
