I just got back from vacation today ( April 24th) and there was a phone message to call Michael Carter from the IRS. Since I was in London when he called (April 14th) and I had a tax refund coming I thought I had to pay. I called the number and it was disconnected. I called the 1 800# that the IRS provides and they said they had a high number of scammers posing as IRS agents due to the media reports that the IRS aren't auditing people due to budget cutbacks and the economy is improving. The only problem on catching these guys is that they are in the U.S for 2 weeks run thier scam and bolt to thier country of origin shortly thereafter with all your personal info. Dont respond to IRS phone calls they will send you a letter to schedule an appt @ thier office or schedule a home visit So beware of scammers

Hmm, I wonder if we all have something in common.  I've never had this type of calls before until now.  It could be a coincidence that I've filed an extension for this year for the very first time.  The caller who called me has very bad accent, hard to hear the message and seems to have speech disability.  He also claimed to be some "Litigation Department" and warned me "not to disregard" the notification.  He left me this same phone # to call back.

The only question is ... Do I want to pull a Seinfeld on these people?

I just called the number and someone by the name of "Anna" picked up the phone. Had a little fun with her before shouting in her ear. He he he. They deserve much worse.

Heavy accent.  Claimed IRS has filed suit against me.  I asked him if he was a government employee working for the IRS and he said yes.  I was told to call Michael Carter at 415 251 8101.

Is there anyway you can tract these individuals keeping calling our number.  They are a nuisance to society. They are a pain in the ....any number that is out of your area and you know no one with that area code don't answer. If its the police they will contact the local police and they will come to your door. Block them

Nancy from IRS called. She said she sent 2 certified letters 1 to my job and 1 to my home. Said I am in big trouble with IRS. I neva got alleged letters. Nancy told me to call legal dept. Michael Carter at 4152518101 and hire lawyer cause they will sue me for everything I got. Called BBB. They told me every year about this time scams like this arise. Call police call IRS 1-800# go internet and irs.gov file report. More people grumble harder for scammers to rip people off!

WTF! A lady with a terrible accent claiming to be from the IRS called me to say I owe money to the IRS. She said I need to call Michael Carter @ 415 251 8101 and gave me a 6 digit case number. I remembered last year when the Jamacan crew tried to pull a similar scam. I said my cousins Sanjay and Priya and Uncle Apu tried this scam last year so if you need moolah the economy is getting better and tech co is looking for workers. If not Uncle Apu is looking for Slurpee Jockeys. Thats when the lady swore at me and hung up.  

I recieved a call from Larry. He said he was from the IRS and that I owe money to the IRS for not filing a 1040 for the last 3 years. Larry told me to call Michael Carter @ 415 251 8101 and gave me a case number. I told him that I was on disability and that my CPA does all my finances and to call my CPA. Larry said he doesn't care and that I will go to the federal penitentry for non payment regardless if I am disabled. I threatened a lawsuit on Larry and Michael Carter for harassment because I got all the time in the world and got nothing better to do. Thats when Larry got upset and swore at me and said go right ahead with the lawsuit and hung up. I have no income to show for cause I am not working and my disability payments are so small that the IRS should worry about guys from Wall Street and the Bernie Madoffs of the world.

Got a call from this lady with a horrible accent. Said she was from the IRS and that I owe the IRS $15,000 for the last 10 years. I called her B.S. and said I got a tax refund the last 15 years. Her accent made it impossible to understand but she said to call Michael Carter @ 415 251 8101 to resolve this matter. If I don't call back they will prosecute me. Why should I call? I got money from the IRS and don't intend to give back the money back. If they want it they are going to have to take it from my fist as it lands on thier face.

Got same call!! Told him to get on his magic carpet and come get me!!!

I got called by the same dude everyone else got calls from. He called for the elderly lady I care for. Said his name was Sean Marsh (or Shawn, not sure). Heavy Indian accent, could not understand. Said there was a case against the lady. First thing that comes to mind was that they normally have some written correspondence first. With this call and that from "Microsoft", I think it's fairly safe to assume that anyone who calls with an Indian accent and won't answer questions is a scammer.

The other day a friend of mine called about receiving a call like above.  My husband who's EA told her IRS sends letter instead of calling.  He said it must be a scam.  Well, I got a message from above number today from a heavy accented guy named Jack Palmer, saying a similar thing.  Is there any way these guys can be prosecuted?

We got the same 415-251-8101 Indian accent guy calling us telling us he was John Smith (hard to know what exactly he said) saying we needed to call him back to avoid a lawsuit.  Any chance they could actually think this scam through a bit better?

IF you really did owe money, written documentation from the IRS would be mailed.  They do not call first.  No - you would not be arrested either.  This is a scam.

Just got a call from 415 251-8101, strong indian accent, I could not understand him, he asked me to call back and ask for Michael Carter.  This is bogus, do not give any information to these crooks.

Caller is a scammer.  Caller said his name was Michael Carter and that he was calling about a case #. Had very heavy accent, was difficult to understand him. I am not involved in any case. Other comments say this phone number is a scammer pretending to be an IRS agent. Do not respond to any messages from this caller and do not give him any information.

He's a cowardly scammer hiding behind a magicJack.

He left a long message yesterday and threatened to make sure that I don't ignore this call and have called back to yell at him but no one ever picks up. Stated he was with the IRS and had a reference number from all from the little bit that I could understand.

I also received a call from an indian guy today who say he was from tax unit for IRS and wanted some information. I could barely understand him and hung up. Scam.

Got a call from 415-251-8101 claimed to be the IRS wanted my information,Told them they were a scam and started laughting at him he had an Indian accent.Got mad when I teased him then I hung up on him.
