This number is the default number from any phone @ SFGH. I work for SFGH and can confirm this. When I call my patients, they try to return the call using redial and get frustrated as it's not a working number. I've learned to inform them to not use their caller ID, but instead to call me directly at my stated number.

I keep multiple getting fax-sounding calls from this number.

This number 4152828986 is the external dialing out number for all of sf general hospital . You can not call this number back, it will give you a not working signal.

I'm pretty sure in my case it came from SanFranciscoGeneral Hospital.  I had bizness with a clinic and when I called them at their totally different number and prefix the operator said they use a "camoflouge" number and just try back.

Not to worry, it's from General Hospital (SF) social services.

Weird female voice...she sounded drunk or under the influence.  Anyway, she said her name was Monica.  She repeated my phone number to my husband twice and said it used  to be her number and she wanted to know who had it now.  Needless to say, he hung up on her.

I hope this will ease someone's mind here. I received a call from this number 2 nights ago and did recognize the number so I came here to read if anyone else had received calls from this number. I didn't answer it at first but while I was looking here a 2nd call came in from the same number. This time I answered it and it was in fact San francisco general hospital telling me my child had been injured. I rushed over there and it was true my child was in a bad accident. I noticed that there was one other post here saying it was from the hospital also. Not sure why the other post said something different, but tat is a main line when Simone calls from there. Now one thing interesting is the nurse that third to call me the first time said she called from a cell phone, the 2nd person that called said they called from an in line but yet the same number showed on my caller ID. The calls are coming from there whether its a prank call from the psych ward, or employee

The number isn't from SF General.  I just received two calls from a woman on my cell.  I called the number back and it was a disconnect.  Not sure why everyone is say it's from SF General.

got 2 calls from a mentally ill person rambling about medications. I couldn't exactly make out what she was saying too well. Message went on for a while.

This number answers as disconnected if you call it but it calls out from San Francisco, CA. To be more precise, the ER at San Francisco General Hospital. had a friend call me from there, was unclear about where she was, called it back and got "this number has been disconnected." she called back later same number and that's when I found out where it was coming from.

If I'm reading this right, it more then just the hospital. It's most likely a trunk line that is mostly used by SFGH but has also been leased to a few "other" businesses that turn out to be telemarketers. There are no doubt a number of faxes on it as well, and if there is a mental health unit, in SFGH, they would also be trunked through the same number, as for the easy listening...in a hospital, dial a random number and then put it on hold.... childish, but a good way to p****off people at 3am

ALSO, any phone that is for patent use, like in er would also get the same number so if some dumb-a** got bored in the ER waiting room... prank calls... there you go...that could solve all the mysteries...

I got a call and a message from this number while taking my "siesta".  After listening to the message, I realized it was from SFGH reminding my doctor appointment for next day.  As I am still looking for a job, I thought it was from whatever company for an interview...bummer!

Received numerous calls from this number, 415-282-8986, on my answering machine. No message was left, and the caller I.D. showed it was from San Francisco General.
Calls were made Sundays @ 515 p.m. and Fridays @ 10:30 p.m.

They called....left no message.  Just wanted to share....SF General & UCSF are one and the same.  I went to UCSF med ctr & my doctor is there.  They can't leave a voicemail due to confidentiality restrictions and they are unsure if the # they are calling (your #) is actually for you.

Received the call twice. First time I let it go to voicemail, the second time it was a doctor from SF General calling to reach my girlfriend, as my number is her backup contact. It's the ID number for their switchboard.

Got a call from this number and it pisses me off.  I have prepaid service and don't appreciate this one bit!

Incoming call 10/2/1/2011 from this number. Wierd mumbly female voice. I asked who she was calling for, she asked who I was. I asked why she is calling if she doesn't know me, she said she is lonely and wants to talk with someone. I hung up right away, then.

The number is San Francisco General and it is the Physicians or staff calling you back on follow ups. Was seen in the ER about 2 weeks ago and they just phoned today from that number to follow up with me.

I received a voice mail message from San Francisco General Hospital 415-282-8986 advising me that I had a scheduled appointment on September 12, 2011 and I never made the appointment.

I am in San Francisco and got call and a voice mail from 415.282.8986 that is undecipherable.  A call back to the number shows it has disconnected.

It's SF General... pretty stupid to have the callback go to a dead number.. it turned out to be somewhat important and they didn't leave a message

I received a call from this number tonight at 5:24pm. I did not answer the call as I did not hear my phone ring, it then went to voicemail, no message was left. Do they make more than one attempt? I am concerned
