This number called me again today. The person after I told them that I had just gotten called by this number on my other cell. He said that I had been called due to the warranty on my car running out. I have a 1990 vehicle.? Hes just a little late. After asking for them to stop calling me. He started saying WAAA. He kept doing it. I am tired of this. Dont accept any calls from them, its a scam.

I have been harassing those callers that offer a warranty for my car. This is likely another one of them.  They call from this number, but hang up now. I called back, the message said not in service.  This is BS for these reasons:

1) telecoms have a standard series of tones at the start of the out of service message.  This was designed to key automated systems that the number was out of service and to trigger its deletion from the callers database.  In fact, some answering machines mimic this tone set to stop automated telemarketers. This number does not have that tone. It is fake.  It also doesn't play the first words of the message, it starts with "have dialed is not in service", technically they are not saying that the number is invalid.  The number is valid, and the computer receiving your call just plays that message and hangs up in an attempt to convince you to stop harassing them.

2) The number appears to be on a network associated with Global Crossing, which explains why it is so quick to pick up (e.g. no ring, near instant answer).  That leads me to believe it is associated with a computer sitting on a high bandwidth network.  This is clearly not a true landline or cell phone.

3) While it is possible to spoof the caller id, it isn't likely, it isn't easy, and the telecoms can trace the call regardless of spoofed info.  It just isn't worth the risk to spoof a phone number (unlike email, where it happens all the time).

So, this is clearly somebody who needs to be the recipient of revenge.  I propose (given the assumption that the number is on an IP network) that everyone on the planet with Skype call the crap out of this number. IT IS going through, it is just a computer trying to fool you into thinking it is not in service.  Enough skype calls (free to us) will cost them a fortune in bandwidth, and eventually convince them that it is time to stop f*^*g with us.

My wife answered both calls on her phone and yes they advertise a car warranty. I get calls from 415-294-2027 every other week. I believe they have something to do with two other numbers 417-967-9988 and 231-733-6797 both of which upon call back have the phone company recording of the number being disconnected or not in service.
I believe that the use of many alternate numbers or trunking phone lines is not a healthy way to gain good customer service. While working in government we trunked our lines so that we could not get call backs from people with caller ID. However we could be reached through a main line at all times.
This type of business leads me to believe that this company is constantly on the move and hitting millions of #'s to solicit their business. I'm sure the more they put out there the better the chances of someone taking the bait. There are people out there who will trust just about anyone that talks nice and appears to be there to help them. Remember not to give personal information over the phone, the net, or to anyone! Go to the business, they surly have a web site, if not a location  in a nearby city ie; Statefarm, Farmers, Geico,.... request a mailer describing their services. Above all be wise with your information and money. If you wanted to give it away I would be happy to take it for you and will prob. be able to offer a better warranty service.
I have gotten to the point where I don't even answer my phone if I don't recognize the number.

Event Reminder
Got a call from 415 294-2027.  It was a recording about a vehicle warranty. The recording started out as saying, "this is the second notice that the factory warranty on your vehicle is about to expire". It said to press 1 to talk with someone or press 2 to be removed from the call list.I chose to press 2,

Got a call from this number this morning at 9:38 am PST. My car was purchased new, only 5 months ago, so it certainly won't be out of warranty anytime soon! I think it's suspicious that there is no company name mentioned in the call.

Got two calls from this number today, both leaving messages about vehicle warranty.  I have 10 payments left on my car, maybe a reason?

Got a call today at 9:23 AM CDT. It was a recording about a vehicle warranty. The recording started out as saying, "this is the second notice that the factory warranty on your vehicle is about to expire". It said to press 1 to talk with someone or press 2 to be removed from the call list.I chose to press 2, although that option won't work since it's more than likely an autodialer. I was almost sure that it was going to be a "Heather with Account Services" call or differnt vehicle warranty call.

I am registered with the DNC.
