I received a call on my cell phone stating that I needed to have my sister (gave her name) this number & speak with Max Carter.  It was of a time sensitive nature & she should return the call along with her attorney of record.  The man had an accent (Indian possibly?)  When I returned the call, the guy asked me my name (I didn't give it to him) and asked for my cell phone #.  I didn't want to give it to him and he got agitated.  I hung up & called my sister.  She got the same message to call this number & ask for this same guy.  When she called, he also wanted her cell phone number & when she wouldn't give it to her, he hung up.  I'm certain that if my sister is in legal trouble, this is not how they'd go about contacting her.  But how did they get her cell # and how did they get mine AND how did they know I was her sister??????

I received a message on my cell phone from someone named Michael (voice distorted) stating that this is a law firm and I need to call back. I called about 6 hours later from my home phone and someone answered the phone. I asked for Michael and was asked my name and heard a lot of people talking in the background. I hung up. Immediately I received a return phone call from the same number (caller id shows INPHONEX) stating that I need to call back Monday morning or be in big trouble and the person hung up. The amazing thing is my cell phone is not in my name. How did they get my information?

A person called me on September 5, 2008 at 5:20 pm saying that I owed money to Sonic Payday and that I was going to be arrested if I didn't pay at my job on monday at 11:00am.  He said that I had 20 min. to fax a letter of apology as why I didn't pay my debt back in 2006.   He wanted my credit card number and said I owed $1095.00.  It was very noisy and you couldn't understand anything they said.  They transfered me to a finance department and then said their attorney was waiting to file charges against me so I would be arrested on Monday.

I received a call from this number on Sept 6 and the message was left on my cell phone stating his name was Alex Brown and if I didnt return the call or have my attorney return the call then "good luck to you" Very heavy foreign accent also

Had the same call. Saying this is state atterney office. Name Alex Brown. When i called back on the numbe its saying that this number is not in service.

Same call from some foreign guy a the others. Said I owed money to Sonic Payday and if I didn't pay they were going to arrest me at my job on Monday.  Said I had 3 counts against me.   He ask for credit card information and when I told him that I researched this information of his number on the internet he said those people were upset because he didn't allow them to pay the money back.   Ask me if anyone briefed me on my court case and that they had sent me my court papers through e-mail and why was I just ignoring them.   I call and filed a report with my local sheriffs department and advised Wachovia Fraud department of this matter as well.

I received a call from this number saying they have an urgent message for my sister (they gave her name)  How they knew that info is beyond me.  They also called my sister.  The urgent message was that if she didn't call immediately or have her attorney call, they couldn't help her & wished her good luck.  Could hardly understand the guy -- heavy foreign accent & lot of back ground noise.  What exactly is the scam here?

I just got the same type of call saying that I owed some amount of money and that I was going to be taken to jail at 11am tomorrow.  This is the second time this has happened and when I tell them to forward the documents to me so I can forward it to my lawyer nothing ever happens.  All they ever say is that I owe the money and that they have an affidavit from someone and good luck.  Someone needs to get this to 60 Minutes or Dateline so they can investigate this scam.

Do not send money to these people..They are absolutely a scam that has been going on for awhile now.

I have the same message on my answering machine, telling me good luck also if I do not call back, when I call the number I get no answer.  The person was a foreigner and the background was real nosey.  I have had two other companies like this call me and I have paid them what they were asking which was well over 3500.00 but I had them checked out.  This one I am not so sure about

Just had a client come in reporting the same script being read to him as described by judy, above.  The call occurred today.  They were trying to collect $500 from Sonic Cash trying to arrange payment to avoid 3 criminal charges.  They said they would lock his father up too for co-signing or being listed as a reference.  When my client said he'd call his lawyer, they offered to fax the affidavit to him.  Then, when I called back to try to get the name of the company, they said "technical services".  When they realized I was a lawyer, they hung up on me and did so again repeatedly on call backs.  I think that this is a scam.

Got a call yesterday woman Amanda Black on answering machine,could not really understand everything she said, very noisy and a foreign accent.  Something about better call and if not good luck.  Went to work had a message to call 213-221-1422, she was not there man answered. Said I owed money to a sonic cash, someone was comming next day at 11 AM and take me to court.  He knew my ssn and I told him I did not owe this, he said very mean that they were getting me on 3 counts of something.  Wouldn't tell me much just that I would find out tomorrow.  Was very mean and threatening.
