got a call from this #, said I was approved for a loan I applied for on line last night
funny I never applied on line for a loan (who in their right mind would do that on line)
not to mention I was in ER 46 hours, before and after that time frame.

Received a call today from (415) 323-0253 caller ID said San Francisco/North Bay Area. Foreign woman left a VM stating she was with First Financial Bank and that she received my application online for a loan and it as been approved and to call her at (415) 323-0253.  I have not applied for any loans online. I am sure this is a SCAM.

I have received repeated phone calls from 1-415-323-0253 talking about a loan application from a Gerald something - not even my name.  I have spoken with a "manager" or "supervisor" a number of times to get them to take my name off of their "list" or delete the application.  I have no idea what to do or how to get them to stop calling me.  The latest person I spoke to goes by the name of Brandon.

On Oct. 5, 2013 I received two voicemails on my cell from this number, and a third from 914-556-5372. All three were pretty much the same, with the same heavily-accented caller (Indian?), saying that "my" loan application had been approved and I should call back. I'm familiar with phone scams and of course never call back - I just google to see if the numbers have been reported yet.

This Telemarketing call originates from Zynga when you complete one of their online surveys to get 5 Zynga cash.

Zynga sells the phone number to this scam operation.

The scammers then begin calling.  Zynga is the problem and the originator of this fraud.

Total Scum operation. First they call with a "caller id blocked" line, then when they have verified that the line is active and a person answers, they followup with incessant re-calls, even when you tell them not to call back anymore.

Thumb rule: Never pay money up-front to receive money. Most of these loan company are operating illegally. By this I mean, they very well may be a legit loan company yet they're not allowed to do business in California.

Change your bank accounts NOW! There's no penalty to do so and it takes no time at all. Chances are these loan companies that keep calling you already have your info including SS numbers. These so called "heavy accented" people (from over sees) need not abby by our laws. Theres not much you can do to keep them from calling but to go after company they represent if you can get that info from them.

These people / companies are hunting their pray. They'll strike when you least accept it.

CHANGE YOUR BANKING INFO !!!

Yes, I just sent them $180 even though I knew better. I was just so desparate. I got the whole speel about the credit bureau and FDIC and then she had the nerve to ask for $480 more. I guess she thought she found a dumb, which is what I am feeling right now. Has anybody been able to get their money back?? I don't see how they stay in business!

I'm getting these calls, too, from a variety of numbers.  File a complaint at http://www.consumerfinance.gov/ with as much info as you can gather.  Name of the company, address, phone numbers, agent's name, account number.   I have gotten 30+ calls in 3 days, and lots of hang-ups.

You receive a call saying they will loan you money, but you have to pay a fee upfront?
That is illegal:
http://www.consumer.ftc.gov/features/feature-0022-financial-educators

"If the offer of the loan is made by phone but you have to pay before you get access to any money, it?s illegal. It?s illegal for companies doing business in the U.S. by phone to promise you a loan and ask you to pay for it before they make good on their promise."

So all such calls are 100% scam.

they will not stop calling, they call from several different numbers and it is the same person. I have repeatedly asked them to stop, hung up on them, screamed at them, blocked the numbers. They leave messages. This is INSANE. I have saved the messages and reported them to the Florida AG office.

DO NOT buy into this crap!!! It's a total scam!!! Yes they got me for $200 but at least it wasn't more! Can anything be done about this? Looks like the phone # is a mobile #...I'm sure it can't be traced. After inquiring with the credit bureaus and calling "Ben" back at first financial to plead my argument, he kept hanging up on me!!! Felling stupid right now!!!

Yes Jim, I just had the same exact thing happen. Was told the credit bureau put a block on the loan, well credit bureaus don't block loans. They have nothing to do with lenders loaning to ANYONE, they only provide scores and I verified with the credit bureau that this "first financial" never pulled my credit report. When I called this "loan company" back he kept giving me the run around and telling me if I pay the FDIC insurance my loan will be transferred to me. I told him I don't want the loan, I just want my $200 back. He said the credit bureau is blocking that too. What a scam!!!  Do I feel stupid? YES! But this is still so wrong!

Ah, and not to mention that it is ILLEGAL to have to pay an upfront "fee, processing fee, insurance, trial installment" - take your pick - before you receive a loan.  Any time you're asked to pay a fee or charge before you receive money, whether for a "grant" or a loan - which you didn't even apply for - it's a scam!

Yes, they did the same thing to me. What difference does it make. They should be up front. When I told the guy it was a scam he got mad. I wish there was something that can be done to shed light on this situation to more people b/c it is not right.
