You don't have incoming call filtering?  I don't allow my phone to ring without callerid name information (on this line)

I did miss this call about the time I put a phone number in my name.com whois

add another.  Registered IPKall in the afternoon, then received a call from 4153385516 at 02:12 the next morning.  Nasty.

I too registered an IPKall phone number within 24 hours of this 4153385516 calling me. I think I remember when I registered my other number a while ago I also got but that was from some other numbers, and it happened multiple times. Pretty weird.

Then, at least it lets people see who is calling - that's why most people post here!

This is an AUTOMATED CONFIRMATION CALL from IpKall following signing up for a new number. The call is NOT from your SIP-URL/VoIP provider.

Why bother to continue to post new "replies" in this thread.  The number is LEGITIMATE ... albeit a one-time annoyance.

Yeah, I got called from this number at 6 a.m. EDT. I quickly answered but no one replied and call immediately terminated. I wondered who had callled me and searching the web I found the answer here: IPKALL.

This is just the automated verification system checking that you are a real person and that the number is connected to a phone.  You get it about 12 hours after signing up with IPKall.  It is a simple unobtrusive thing and a small price to pay for the fantastic free service provided by IPkall.

Also check if it showed up in your google voice as an outgoing call since you may have dialed it after the call came in to your SIP device and used your google on your sip device as your primary outgoing.  It may have been a simple <- or -> error on your part and you thought it meant incoming when it was your call back to the number.

I don't think it's google voice because I have google voice setup on my SIP1 and CallCentric on SIP2. This call came through on my Callcentric history and not my google side. I have my IPKall porting to my Callcentric account which both ring my IP Phone.  This is some registry test by IPKall.  It is testing for connectivity to an SIP account that matches or to allow users of an SIP to be aware of porting.  There is a purpose for the calls but I would like it to be more forward with intent instead of being autonomous.  In your case it might have been because you ported IPKall to your google number. So it was checking your connectivity and alerting you of a connection to your account.  Not very effective at alerting but who knows?

Just signed up for IPKALL too and this number called at 3:40 am.  I traced it back through my callcentric account that it originated from IPKALL.  Quick question: How can I call out on my IPKALL number since I have it ported to callcentric?  I too just set up my account within 6 hours after I got this call.  Called back and no answer after 40 seconds of ringing.

What do you mean by "see if they get a ring back".

BTW: yes, just after signed up with IPKall

I just got the call at 2am (AZ), luckily i'm a nightowl anyway, but I was out smoking so it rang without me hearing it. So i called it back from my GV number, 2x it failed to go through. 3rd attempt it rang about 15x and finally gave me a failed call message, please try again.

Wonder if it is an automated call to see if anyone answers? Maybe it needs to be answered once every 30 days to verify that the number is being use???

Must be some kind of test number. Called 2 of my IPKall numbers at 2:48am. Those two numbers had just been registered within 24 hours of the call..

I know (suspect) what this is!

When you set up an IPKALL number you also have to have a sip provider. The sip provider allows you to set up a caller id so that your number appears in the called party's caller id device.

The sip provider wants to be very sure you aren't impersonating someone like say Barack Obama. Their solution is wait till you are asleep, call your cid number and see if they get a ring back. If they do its good news. If they don't you are probably up to no good.

no, folks! it's actually google voice calling, not ipkall! i got the call within 12 hours of setting up my ipkall number with google voice, but it shows up on my google voice history, which means they actually called my google voice number and NOT ipkall. a call to the ipkall number would ring on the sip phone but wouldn't show up on google voice history because it wouldn't be going through google's servers.

Someone from this number just called my IPKall number. I heard nothing but silence, but it could just be my IPKall acting up again. Chalk it up to spammers, I suppose.
