It's IT people at Bank of America.  I work in IT for the bank.  People at that number call me to ask me to do stuff for them.

I think it's MBNA/BoA. THey call from this number, I pick up, the call drops and I can't call back. They never leave a message either.

I can also confirm this number is a Bank Of America in the UK.

this is a Bank of America tech support group located offshore. If you received  call, it is most likely they mis-dialed your number. Not a bill collector or telemarketer

This person called me but it was a collect call. I could barely hear the name.

Received a call from the above # person said that his name was Samar from Bank of America and he need account details advise him request must be sent via fax and proper channels

I can confirm this is definitely a Bank of America number.  I work for the company in the UK and whenever I make a call to the USA this is the number that will appear on caller ID.  The same number will appear for any calls originating from outside the US.

Got a call on my work voice mail from these guys and evidently they didn't realize it was recording.  A couple of guys chattering in some asian language and pounding away quite feverishly on computer keyboards.  Then after a couple of minutes, one of them picked up the phone and said "hello?" then hung up.

This number has been calling me all through the night about every hour phone rings twice and hangs up

Every 2 to 3 weeks I get a call from a person saying he is Kevin at Bank of America and he asks the same question every single time.  So far I believe he is up to 18 phone calls with the same question.  Today I asked for his supervisor and he rambled something and hung up.  The number is always busy when you try to call back.

Yes, you actually do have ties to this number. When they send employees over see on business trips (to India for example) they use this area code, and many instances this number to allow the employee to call the United States.

I am doing some transactions with Bank of America also.  I wonder if some BOA employee is selling info he/she has access to.

I work for Bank of America and they are calling me and hanging up. We have no ties to this number...

I was expecting a call from MBNA after a fraud incident on my UK credit card. I gave my cellphone number but never pick up unless I recognize the number. I was NOT expecting a UK call to appear as being in California so I ignored it. With hindsight it looks like it was MBNA contacting me.

As someone already posted, I believe companies use this to save money. They certainly will in my case because I will never pick up a call I don't recognize and if they don't bother leaving a message (as in this case) their efforts will be in vain. I'll end up footing the bill by calling them on their local UK number, but with the assurance that I'm speaking with a UK company and not some scammer in California.

I've seen Bank of America mentioned here. Well they bought MBNA at least in Europe so this seems to tie in.

The caller was from MBNA, UK, looking to collect from my business partner. Told the guy, Manesh, that i is illegal tocall people at work to chase debt, but he didn't seem to care...

Got acall twice on Dec 28th 2009 from # 415-436-1200. When you all bck, it will appear busy as always.
Seems to be some marketing blank call. So far Could not talk to anybody.
Gonna avoid this number now. When I googled,I got so many similar people.

I've started to received legitimate calls from a firm that I work with through this exchange.  I believe it is a general number that appears when certain companies in Europe route their calls through California (i.e. not specific to any one person/company).

That's not to say there are not people placing suspicious calls through this number though.


(fyi - I googled this number before answering, and figured I would share what has happened to me in case it helps)

The call was from England.  Business use trunk lines out of San Francisco to reduce costs to and from International affiliates. It is likely he knew your son and was using a business line to make a personal call.

Got a call from this number, English sounding gentleman following up a charge to a credit card.  He thought I was a company charging someone on their credit card.  He must work for a credit card company investigating suspicious charges.

Called at 9:03am on cell, while I was sleeping, since I just got laid off on Tuesday. Left no message. Tried calling back, it's busy....
