I got a call from a different number...800-829-1040...yes an 800 number. Probable those jerks have been reading this post! The guys sounded east Indian and threatened arrest for both me and my wife if I don't talk to their attorneys straight away! he called himself an investigating officer from IRS. I know that IRS does nor call..they always send letters first!

I received a call from these these ppl to saying I owe 4000 , first it kinda scared me because they was saying I was gonna go to jail but after I spoke to my mom n grandmother I felt better. Then we call back they are was very rude n then they said that the was going back 7 years then they said 10 years, which 10 years ago I was only 15. But I called the irs the said its all  scams..

November 7, 2013; I'm taking an afternoon nap when my wife and I received a call from a bizarre sounding foreigner, hard to understand.  First of all we always check caller ID but not this time so this person started to leave a message.  My wife decided to answer because it sounded serious.  She gave me the phone and this unidentified person said; I am from the IRS, this is about your case, did you receive the letter, I said no.  He or she said I need some more information from you.  I said, "your full of crap"  The lady paused then said, "what" like she did not understand the full meaning.  I said again, your full of crap and she responded, get yourself an attorney and be prepared for legal action against you, I ended the call.  Within a few minutes we get another call, this time caller Id shows (415) 484-8569, I knew it was the same scam and did not answer, then I ended up at this site.  I tried the number (800) 366-4484 for the Treasury Inspector General but did not get through to speak with anyone to file a complaint.

I received a call from someone posing as an IRS agent criminal investigation unit from phone #415-690-8134.  It's hard to understand these people -- i was first talking with a lady then she switched me to some man by the name of Kevin (foreigner).  He said to avoid legal consequences for frauding the government of my federal taxes, I can settle and pay $4,000 right then, or be arrested on Monday???.  Needless to say, I called the IRS 800#, and the representative told me this was a scam...the IRS won't call me or tell me i'm being arrested...I would know what was going on throughout, so it wouldn't be a surprise.  Also, the "real IRS representative" said that IRS sends certified letters.  Once again, this is a scam.

I too received multiple threatening calls saying I would be arrested if I didn't pay my balance or I could plead my case. Both callers had thick Indian accents. Said I would be arrested. They are NOT with the IRS, I called eftps today and they said the irs is closed on the weekend nor would they call making such threats.

They called me and her name was Michelle. Saying her name was officer Michelle (unknown last name) saying I owe the IRS money and when I started to question who she was and due the the fact I have a DEEP Voice I think she started to feel uncomfortable and she said the local police would be at my house immediately and she hung up!
When I called back she answered and hung up within a couple seconds and then I called a 3rd time they had blocked my number!!
Now, I don't know any federal agency that does phone investigations they just garnish your wages or levy your account. Also, I don't know any federal law enforcement personal that introduce themselves as officer, it's always Agent or special agent in charge!

It's a hoax

It's because the originators of this scam is coming from India.   It isn't the lack of ability to locate,  it is the lack of cooperation from foreign governments in seeking prosecution.

We received a call stating in broken English that is was Debra Jackson with some Department of the IRS. "Very important nature"  "Urgent"  . . . .
Called back, someone answered, but I could not hear and could not understand - sounded like bad reception
After that, everytime I call back, just one beep, and nothing.
Today I called and get a recorded "cannot complete the call, please try again"
Maybe someone is shutting them down?  Hope so!

I got the same message on Friday, they called at 6 am and the guy "John Walker" with a heavy Indian accent said the same message "you have a deficiency on your income tax"...interesting choice of words. I called back, and no answer. Checked the IRS webpage and as everyone else stated, it is a 800. I will report this call. Thank you everyone who shared there experiences.

Having dealt with the IRS, I already knew it was a scam.  I kept him on the line as long as possible asking him more questions and telling him I don't understand when he gave me instructions.  Heh.  I hope I cut down his call numbers by a few for today.

This is a scam. Please don't give any information or commit to pay them any money. I called back and asked for IRS ID number. He sure was confused, and I asked, are you IRS agent and he HUNG UP! - Piece of $#!^..

Got a call from this number, I could hardly understand the person..., but when you hear the IRS, you get panic stricken, right.  But this smells like a scam to me.  Luckily I found this post and read the comments. I called to report it.  Note that it is not a 800 number and they don't give a reference #  for when you call back.  The only thing is , that due to the Government Shut down, I wonder if the IRS Inspector General's office will call me back?  October 4, 2013

Received 2 calls today from 415-484-8341 on my work phone. They didn't introduce themselves and  started asking where I live, saying how they liked my voice, and said they didn't have time to talk but would like my cell phone number to talk to me later.The next time they called, just said they wanted to have *relations* with their wife, can we help them with that.

Received voice message, caller said they were from the IRS, we must call back to avoid legal action and this was concerning a problem with our income tax.  The caller sounded like he was in a call room in India and I couldn't understand 90% of what he said due to his thick accent.  When I tried to return the call, no one answered.  I guess the IRS in India is closed for the day!

Got a message that Kenneth Webster had called our restaurant and would only speak with the owners.  I called the number and the guy was really rude and wanted to know what number he had called originally.  Thank goodness I didn't know it off the top of my head and said so. . . he just hung up.  I thought it must be a scam and thank goodness I found this information when I googled the number.

Just got a call, they had my name.  Same details as above - man with a middle eastern accent.  I asked him why he was working today even though the government is shut down and he said he was just calling to inform me that the IRS is filing suit against me.  Ha ha - oops.  He told me to call Kenneth Webster at 415-484-8341 right away.  Gave me a different address (than my own) and I told him they had the wrong person.  He insisted that I call immediately.  I don't recall the name of the company he said he was with.  I told him I would call and hung up.  Will not be calling. 4:25 pm 10/02/13

I got 4 calls from this number last night. The funny thing is...they were asking for my step-son. My husband's ex-wife claimed the kids on her tax return for years, so I figured something was up. Very Indian accent who pronounced deficiencies as de-fish-i-en-seas. Also the timing is suspect as well. WIth the gov't shutdown, the IRS is putting a hold on audits and investigations. The message said to call the second this message was received. The guy said his name was Alex Baker. yeah...right. Ok Alex, I'd like government scams for $1,000.

Number is 415-484-8341. Guy's name was Alex Baker. Basically pay up or else.

My husband received two phone messages from a man named Micheal Glock.( Man with heavy Indian accent)
When he called the number a man answered saying that we owed the IRS and that our pay agreement had been canceled due to policy changes. He told my husband that a warrant was being issued .We where very up set over this and called an lawyer. We really thought that he was going to be put in jail 10/1/13. What a cruel scam to play on someone. These jerks need to be stopped. I will be reporting this ASAP.

A person claiming to be Michael Clark called me representing Kenneth Webster from the IRS Investigations dept.  You cannot call them back.  The line beeps, or rings then goes to beep.

Yes I agree and I called the IRS is shut down. I called the guy a a-hole because I didnt believe him from the starte. My husband always pays his bills. I knew it was a scam. We did a three way call with our attorney. They wouldnt answer.

I reported this call today to Morgan and Morgan and here is so many others that are getting the same call from this indian accent man, I think its more chinese.

OMG YES THIS GUY TRIED TO SCAM US TO NO AVAIL AND I HAVE AN ATTORNEY ON THIS CASE.

Hilarious and obvious scam.  First, the IRS always corresponds via US Mail.  Second, according to all the news reports on the government shutdown, that vast majority if the IRS is on furlough.  That means all audits and investigations are on hold. However the reports did warn that any payments due should be made on time as usual.

THEY CALLED AND THREATENED US SAID THEY WERE IRS.WE CALLED BACK WITH OUR TAX GUY AND THEY WOULDNT ANSWER

This company is a scam.  They are not with the IRS.

10/01/2013  just got a call from 415-484-8341 claiming I was being investigated by the IRS, after a few questions it was easy to see that this is a scam. Aside from the poor English they spoke they stated they were calling from NY and then CA. if you get this call please report it to the the following Treasury Inspector General 1-800-366-4484.
