Yup, message left on my answering machine - could barely understand what she was saying - I figured something was up, so I entered the number into Google and this string came-up. I feel bad for people who actually fall for this.

Listened to my voice messages a woman with an heavy Indian accent said she is calling from the IRS. I should call her back at 415-506-2511 immediately it's time sensitive I should not disregard or else legal action will be made. I could hardly understand what she was saying plus there was a constant beep like she was getting a another call. For the hell of it, I called the number back and I got a magic jack recording. IRS knows how to find me if it was extremely urgent, they would have sent something in the mail

I also got a call from this number two days ago! He said his name was Chris Rogers from IRS but he had a heavy Indian accent...that really gave it away. Cant we report these people? Its ridiculous. My ID said Norvato, CA.

They said they were from the IRS: Susan Brown, asked for my husband. Told me to have him call back this number 416-780-2718 (same as on the caller ID). I sent a note to the IRS, and they confirmed that they would write first.

>>> With all the data they're collecting by means of ignoring the 4th amendment... you'd think they'd could at least put it to good use and do something about these calls. <<<
They ARE doing something about it. The government puts out all sorts of press releases warning people about these scams and where to file an official report to complain about them. But somehow, these get pushed back and never covered on the local news, because it has nothing to do with murders, rapes, dogs and cats chased up trees, who was drafted for the local sports teams, etc. It doesn't make the national network news broadcasts, because people are much more interested in which celebrities are pregnant, what they are wearing on the Oscars, and how much cleavage they are showing or where their tattoos are. And it doesn't make the cable news networks because they are all about politics and political pundits can't reframe this issue into a suitable for an us vs. the other party conflict.
Then, of course, I'm sure that a lot of this data collection is put to much more trivial use than preventing people from annoying you, such as trying to find out what the Russians are really up to in Ukraine and whether World War III is at hand.

A guy with a heavy Somalian accent (Somalian b*****d as usual) claiming to be Brian Cruz from "Internal Investigation of the IRS" called from this number asking to speak to my sister. He knew her full name and that she had received her tax return. I don't how he got this information. He told me that she needed to call him back at this number urgently.
the frequency of these calls is getting worse. Verizon recently switch our home phone line to voip. Could that a reason for the increased phishing calls? It's easier to be untraceable, isn't it? idk. I've read that all providers plan to ditch pots for voip. With all the data they're collecting by means of ignoring the 4th amendment... you'd think they'd could at least put it to good use and do something about these calls. I fear we can't do anything because calls originate outside the US. Somali scum

>> I'm so glade to here this was a joke <<
Diana -
It wasn't a joke. It was a scam.
If you sent the money, it would have disappeared.
Please try to distinguish between a "joke" and a "scam". The latter is MUCH more harmful!

yes! I first asked if I could share this information with my police friend. the man on the phone yell and got upset with me. so I got in my car and asked the person on the phone if he can here the ding coming from my car door open with the key turn on. next, I drove to my bank and left the phone inside my car and spoke to a bank clerk. i shade what was going on. She walked me back outside to my car and I drove to the police station after telling the man I only had $1,000 in this bank and the other bank is closing. I'm so glade to here this was a joke and pray no one else get cought up in this mess. PS I was meeting my husband at the police station. we both can home without going inside the station.

Just received similar "IRS" message from the same phone number. An Indian accent male said my tax returns had problems, legal issues, etc. This guy's accent was so bad that I barely understood what he was saying. He requested that I call back.
Does anybody here knows how we can report this scam to a local police in California? I don't live in CA.

Got a call from a man named Steven about two weeks ago, same 415 number for a deficiency in my income tax. I called back and an INDIAN guy named Mark Stevens picks up and reads me the affidavit telling me I owe $4,999 now, otherwise a sheriff would come to my workplace or home to drag me to court. He threatened to call the DMV immediately to suspend my drivers license for 5 years and if I lost the court case, I would have to spend a year in jail and pay thousands in fines. When I asked for him to send me the details/paperwork for review, he refused and became flustered.
Do NOT give any of your personal information over the phone, ask for the general IRS # (800) and an extension #

Just got a call from this number: voicemail from an Indian accented woman saying it was the IRS. Called back and got this guy. When I started asking questions he got belligerent and hung up. Clues: Called me rather than my husband-we file jointly and his name is first. I asked which year he said 2009-2010 (that sounds fiscal, not tax). Very threatening, asked if I had a lawyer, then said my assets will be seized today by the local sheriff. Thanks for posting your comments here; I got nowhere trying to reach the IRS to verify.

Like the other callers on this page, I received a voicemail from a man with a VERY thick Indian accent. The number showed up as San Francisco/North Bay area, but it would only be 5:30am there right now.
I would like to know if anyone else receiving these calls banks with Huntington Bank? The call came to my cell phone but was actually for my dad. I recently assumed power of attorney over him, but Huntington Bank is the only institution I have given my number to in that capacity. I just want to make sure this isn't a sign that Huntington's system has been breached.

He called my home number and claimed that he's from the IRS. The caller has an Indian accent. I am sure that this is a scam so don't fall for it.

Just call the same call an hour ago. A man with Indian accent left message that he is from IRS and that I had to call back immediately. Not calling back.
| Indian Guy 2014-02-24 19:19:13 Unknown |
Same number same message. What gave it away for me was an Indian calling about IRS and threating to take legal action. In my limited knowledge all govt agencies do snail mail. Then I did the number search sure enough I am not the only one who received this message.

Left message claiming to be from IRS and I should return the call immediately before I contact my lawyer. Obviously not calling back!

I got two phone calls from 415-506-2511. Asking me to call them, when I called back a gentleman named Mike answered. I asked him when did I call in and why, He told me that I have called in IRS and so I asked when did IRS Moved to California from Washington DC and when did IRS started calling customers for taxes owed instead of sending US Mail. He just got upset and threatened to send me to jail and cancel my drivers' licence. I also told him, if he knew which state i lived in and he replied yes he knoew I live in Kansas but in reality I live in Michigan.
