Received a call from a "Jack Stanley" claiming to be calling from a company called " IES which handles technical support problems for Windows Operating Systems". He said, and I quote, "Your computer sent us a a message that you have downloaded hidden errors while on-line, and you now have an internal problem with that technological device".
He said that he needed to speak to main user for our home computer immediately. He made it sound like we had contacted him, and he was simply responding to that inquiry ... which obviously had never happened. I didn't give him any info, but he left his name and number and asked if we could return his call.
I received the same call this morning, accept he said he's calling on behalf of Windows Operating Systems technical support for a company called IES. He said his name was Jack Stanley, and he needed to speak with the person who is the main administrator for the computer in my house, as we had downloaded software online with hidden errors that must be resolved right away. Of course I didn't give him any information ...
An "Allen Brown" called and told my bride about a supposedly downloaded virus. Claimed he was from Windows and told her that my "computer had expired." The only disconcerting thing is that my laptop did indeed start flaking out on me yesterday. Found a rootkit from Real Networks and deleted it. Now doing full boot scans. Curious timing for such a phone call from what appears to be a legit call center...
said i have a computer virus and said a message was sent out ...that's complete bs .... windows does not report problems with out consent ...that's privacy violations

The scam team from 415-315-9455 seem to have moved on to this number. An Indian sounding "Mr. Harry Watson" (okay...) tried to convince an elderly lady that her computer was infected or sending out viruses (the computer is mostly OFF). Also claimed to be from LA, yet gave a SF number.
Trying to fix my computer problem with windows
phone a few times
would not give him access to my computer
I am receiving continued calls from a person with a South Asian accent who keeps insisting that my internal computer is infected - he says he is calling from Windows. Today I asked what number he was calling from and he said 415 655 1871 and the company was tm voice system ( at least that is as close as I can make out due to accent.
I keep saying nothank you but the calls keep coming - please reply to email@example.com
