I got a few calls from 'David' from PG&E saying he was going to cut off service due to a payment mix up. He actually got somewhat rude with me when I asked him to explain the problem.   I kept him waiting while calling the real  PG&E who confirmed it was a scam.  'David' hung up when i called him out.

Just received a message from Mark Thomas from this phone number.  I knew it was a scam from an earlier call a few months ago.  It was nice to see this post to confirm that though!  He's still at large!

An individual called me with some BS about my PG&E payment being rejected and I'd be incurring a disconnect fee if I didn't make an alternative payment. I was then transferred to an "Account Manager" who referenced a previous business name associated with my address but in no way associated with my PG&E bill which tipped me off to the fraudulent nature of the call.

This is a PG&E scam asking you to pay your bill with Green Dot Card. Don't fall for it. Call PG&E 1-800 number, verify and report the scam immediately.

Now using the scam Mark from PG&E.  Threatening to shut down electric if not paid in XXX time.  Wanted us to go to 7-11 to pay.  Gave a BS story of PG&E switching payment options and then their computers were supposedly down.

Another call from "Mark Thomas" of the DEA (district 97 - which DOES NOT EXIST).  I've reported this freak (and his really bad answering machine to the DEA, itself).  I suggest you do the same:

Report Extortion Scam: 1-877-792-2873

This is ALSO a standard home-line voicemail system.  I encourage you to call this number, repeatedly, and press # when the voicemail message begins.  Then enter any 4-digit number code you wish.  After 3 wrong entries, you will be disconnected.  But, hey, someone may hit pay-dirt.  If you do, CHANGE THEIR OUTGOING MESSAGE, stating that it is a fraud!!!!

HA!  He called me too!  I could hear a baby screaming in the background.  The caller id read "Lucasfilm".  Never got to his spiel because his bs was so bad- I ended the call before he got to it.  Laughable! And ps "Agent Gold"-I never bought any drugs online anyway-so suck it!

Prank Call
This caller said he was a DEA agent and that I would have to pay him money in order to be exonerated on charges of a on line pharmacy investigation. This is a scam and once I told him that I would have a detective in my area speak to him about any charges that are pending outside of the area, he hung up

Just got a call from this number...same scenario as everyone experienced.  I've received a few calls in the past, each from a different number and a different 'agent' name.  They don't even really know your name because they call from a , that's why when you call back, the person answering the phone asks for your full name.  They make you leave your full name as well when voice mail picks up.  If you go to the official DEA website, there is a link specifically for this scam.  You can file a report, just to have on record.  It only takes a minute or two, but it's good to give them this information so they can hopefully shut this down.

I couldn't believe what I was hearing when I received this call on my voice mail. It showed on the caller ID as Lucasfilm.  The person who call this time was James Redfield, not Mark Thomas as in the other cases reported here.  I had heard about this type of scam before, so I figured I would check here first. One of the clues that something was a bit off is he asked for my middle name which I never use for any reason.  I'm a bit surprised that since the DEA knows about this scam that they don't conduct a sting and nail these a-holes.

I got a msg from him saying he was DEA special agent Mark Gold.  When I called him back his voicemail said DEA headquarters no one can help you right now call back and a "detective" will help you....Really?  a "detective"  I thought they were "special agents"  That's what an 8th grade education gets you.

I called him again and he answered, "Mark Wilder"...really?  where's Mark Gold?.....I asked if he was San Francisco PD and he said you know who you called....

I told him I didn't know and I wanted to know what he needed.  He basically went into an irritated talking smack session calling me a dumb a** and idiot...clearly not Special Agent talk.

I told him I would contact the DEA and FBI San Francisco Office to report him and he replied, "If you do I will f*** you up".  I said Bring it MF and he said don't call me here anymore.   Uh gig is up

Mark Thomas has called me 6 or so times this year.  I had heard this was a scam of people impersonating DEA agents after I received my second call.

I have never returned their calls.  If this were a REAL DEA agent, they would say, "We have tried to contact you X times over the last X months.  We really need a call back from you at your very earliest convenience."

Scammers are lazy---and just say the same thing over and over.  Not anything like I would imagine a real investigation might go.

This has been happening to me for at least 5 years. I really should change my phone number.

The first time kinda scared me, but threats about a "grand jury hearing" seemed ridiculous. So I asked what is my SS # - he didn't know. I asked him what is my b-day; he hemmed and hawed, then lamely answered "you're ___ years old," which was incorrect.

DON'T SEND MONEY and don't waste telephone minutes calling them back.  I'm so sorry for the people who have sent money.

Received a call from 415-746-6925.  He identifies himself as special agent Mark Tomas with the DEA ,  " in  ...uh, unit #97 and that office is in ... uh.., California."

The pauses alone toll you he is looking at the script.

says he id doing an investigation of prescription drugs being purchased online, and that your name came up.  Then tries to extort money to drop all charges and threatens you with arrest if you don't pay up.

Which, of course, no real law enforcement officer would do.

This guy is a total scam and calls every few months with another name another phone number and another location.  Don't be stupid enough to fall for it.

Have fun with him, ask him to come meet you, ask him to text you a 'selfie' of his Anthony Weiner, ask him what he is wearing, laugh at him, tell him YOU'RE having a really rough week and demand $2000 from him  for trying such a feeble extortion attempt.

Whatever you do, Do not take his call seriously.   He never shows up to arrest you.

I received the same call today threatening me with 5-15 years in prison for ordering amdien online several years ago, said DEA had raided a Dominican Republic pharmacial company and found I had bought illegal drugs from them ( have not!). they offered to "keep my name clean" for $7000. The wanted $1800 within an hour and a half sent via Western Union to avoid an arrest warrant, $3000 to avoid a search warrant, and $3000 to avoid extradition to Dominican Republic.

Mark Thomas was the one who called, and when I began to ask definitive questions he turned me over to Lance Molenkoft who became even more intimidating. Western Union says they get this fraud all the time. Their phone number is 414-746-6925. I think we should call them every few minutes just to keep their phone busy. I'll start tomorrow after I talk to the local DEA office.
