Getting this call on my cell...no idea who or what it is...I don't answer and no one but friends have my cell number...any ideas who it is people??
Lisa 2011-06-06 20:48:40 Unknown
I received tens of the calls of 416-000-5374,416-000-1673,416-000-7954 and 416-000-7964 from February. It is an incorrect number when I tried to call back every time. So, I guess they are probably annoying calls from someone or company. Anyone please give me any ideas about how to refuse them and who the number belongs to?
Aura 2011-06-06 20:48:40 Unknown
So annoying I have been receiving the exact same calls from the 416-000-**** numbers for the past few weeks!!!! How do I get on the "do not call" list?!
jackassjass 2011-06-06 20:48:40 Unknown

I get the calls twice a day on my cell. 10am and 4pm EVERYDAY. For the car warranty scam. 416-000-7732, 416-000-4631, also 888-882-3811. We must organize to complain to CRTC about this fraud

This is a wide area call from an individual/company using caller id spoofing. This has just sprung up in the last 6 months. People I know from all over Ontario have received a call from this number.
Lisa 2011-06-06 20:48:40 Unknown
I get these calls on both my cell and home phone everyday sometimes twice a day from 416-000-1673, they call one and then the other (minutes apart), saying something about my car warranty, I have no car. I have no idea how they got my cell number. It's very irritating.
wayne 2011-06-06 20:48:40 Unknown
I received a half a dozen calls from these yahoos on my cell today alone. Does anyone have an idea how to get ahold of these guys? My air time isn't cheap.
Amanda 2011-06-06 20:48:40 Unknown
Ive been getting the same number calling me almost every other day... I don't pick up cause I have no idea who it is... its weird.
woodsman 2011-06-06 20:48:40 Unknown
Also getting the same calls.
Add
416-000-2216
202-495-7170
All same place. All extended car warranties that most places will not accept according to other reports. Cold calling hoping to get lucky.
Dennis 2011-06-06 20:48:40 Unknown
Refuse to answer from these numbers, after the first time.
Have had the last digits 1673, 7954, 1673, 3146,5579, and 416-000-1397.
These jerks should tracked down and delt with.
bob 2011-06-06 20:48:40 Unknown
ditto on the warranty scam
the phone number must be registered to someone.
is phone co. not responsible for jerks who ignore do not call lists?
Judy 2011-06-06 20:48:40 Unknown
They call every day on my cell at noon time and around 2 p.m. I want it to stop
Jay, Ottawa 2011-06-06 20:48:40 Unknown
They've been calling for a couple weeks now... from different numbers. Also a guy at work had the same experience... "car warranty about to expire".
I've been called from these numbers:
416-000-1673
416-000-3146
416-000-5579
416-000-1397
Paul 2011-06-06 20:48:40 Unknown
I have been getting calls from similar numbers as well. Every couple of days.
Sarah, Hamilton 2011-06-06 20:48:40 Unknown
I received a call from this number about 15 minutes ago. It was a recording with a warning that my car warranty was about to expire. I hung up because I do not own a car (therefore no car warranty). They called on my cell phone which is not listed anywhere and I also have a blocked number.
Hannah, Ontario 2011-06-06 20:48:40 Unknown
Got the call too just now, no message left on the ans machine
Also receiving calls with similar #'s on the cell phone & like missfire no one other than family has my cell#
Sarah 2011-06-06 20:48:40 Unknown
I just got a call from this number on my cell, but didn't answer. The voice mail left was about two seconds long and wasn't decipherable. No idea what they wanted.
Mike 2011-06-06 20:48:40 Unknown
000? I let it go to voicemail and it'll be a message that sounds like a really bad connection. No idea what this is. Also received calls from: 416-000-1673, 416-000-5579, 416-000-4469, 416-000-7954 and 416-000-3974.
LAURIE 2011-06-06 20:48:40 Unknown
I thought the do not call list would prevent this crap. I have had all the 416-0000 numbers call me. And the202-495-7170 drug line
John 2009-03-05 21:28:35 Unknown
Everyone, every time you get a call fill out a complaint to CRTC until they do something!

I would love very much to know how to stop this company from calling. They hit my cellphone almost daily; I can see the phone number when they call so I don't have to pick up but they use up my voice mail. Any way to stop them would be appreciated.
And don't use the Canadian Do Not Call List. Apparently the list is available for sale to... call centres.

Here's more info. Apparently, the BC Govt. brought a lawsuit against them:

These are perpetrated by a third party company which is hired by various Auto Warranty Companies. Learned of this via the Edmonton Journal:

Here's the number of one such "warranty" company off their website: 1-800-589-0521.

Go to the link above to read more about the scam. It seems to be all over North America
These idiots call me twice weekly. Once on my home phone and then a few seconds later on my cell. As others have mentioned above, my cell number is private and no one is supposed to have it.
Joe from Manotick 2009-03-04 03:42:22 Telemarketer
I looked on another site (pimlot.com) and one caller managed to get the company name - Choice Warranty - from St. Louis. Yeah, sure, I'll believe that. The telemarketing scam uses Caller ID spoofing, hence all the (416) 000-XXXX numbers. The scam does have a drawback for the scammers however (and this must be figured out by someone smarter than me) is the fact that you press "1" to connect. Figure out what number the call connects to and you get the city or origin and that's a start for law enforcment people. Caller ID spoofing only works one way. Hope this gets people thinking...

Don't put your number on the Do Not Call List! It will do nothing to stop unwanted calls. Companies can simply buy your phone number off the DNC list and continue to harass you.
