Got a call on my cell phone but ignored it. My guess is its more of the "the warranty on your car is about to expire" scam, as thats all that I seem to get anymore.

I get this number calling me every day -- they must have bought up the BELL Canada cell phone list and are spaming (via the cell phone), to get money out of people for warranty.
I will be logging a complaint with Bell Mobility about it. They should be aware of the fact that cell phone numbers are being targeted for fraud!
Candice 2011-06-06 20:48:40 Unknown
yeah same s**t...but i picked up after a few times out of curiosity and they didn't answer so i thought it was weirder...def. should make a complaint.

I'm getting this number calling my husband and I on our cells. We don't give our cellphone number to anyone. I just ignore it but I would suggest call display on your cellphone if you don't have it. If anyone knows who it is, contact the Do Not Call List and advise. I am.

got a call from this number on feb 23rd 4:38pm; didnt answer since it started with 000.
its getting to get very annoying seeing as these ppl are scam artists and its been happening with U.S. area codes as well.
telus is my provider and i know it wont make a diff if i block b/c a new # will just surface as it has. this sucks and needs to stop. i know its rough times but FIND OTHER WAYS TO MAKE $$$ AND STOP BOTHERING PPL.

I think this is what happened! I think Rogers sold their cell numbers as I am surrounded by 3 roger cell phones and all have been harassed with 1 call per day. The telus and Bell haven't been called... yet.
Candice 2009-02-19 18:36:08 Unknown
yeah same s***...but i picked up after a few times out of curiosity and they didn't answer so i thought it was weirder...def. should make a complaint.

Do what I am doing -- Call your cell provider about it and give them the number! Complain, and make sure to let them know that you are going to let the CRTC know that they have compromised their cell-phone numbers, or maybe -- just maybe THEY (Bell, Tellus, etc) SOLD their phone numbers to generate a quick and dirty profit.

Received a call on my cell phone from 416-000-5319 at 11:21am.
Clearly, it is some type of telemarketing call and is one of many calls (most with U.S. area codes) that I have been receiving on my cell phone during office hours. One U.S. example is (802) 525-4519.

Got one this afternoon. Thankfully I don't pick up unknown numbers. Recently I have been getting different phone calls at about 1:30 or 2 in the afternoon. I've gotten calls with area codes from the states too. I just figure its some scam/telemarketers. Has anyone tried to register on the national do not call list? It's aimed to reduce the amount of telemarketing calls you get sent to your phone (home and mobile). It takes about a month before you start to notice a reduction of calls (or something along those lines)
Also when I saw who was calling, I found it odd that the first three digits after the area code were all zero's. Just beware of calls that is all.

got a call and could not understand what the BS was all about....
PACU 2009-02-18 19:06:50 Unknown
You mentioned you received a call from this number twice. When you pressed (2) to be deleted from the call out list- were you contacted again with the same message?
DF 2009-02-18 18:41:17 Telemarketer
I received the call today too..... I've also received it from a U.S number too in the past. They go on to saying your car warranty has expired... blah... blah. It's an american company trying to scam Canadians. It's become a huge problem. Call and complain to your service provider because there must have been a breach in all our records.... If we all complain to our providers just maybe they will become annoyed like us and do something about....... Take care,
DIGGITY 2009-02-18 18:15:05 Unknown
This is a SCAM!!!!! Citynews has featured it. They are trying to sell extended warranties for vehicles and once they have your money they are gone and the warranty means nothing! BE VERY AWARE!!!
puff 2009-02-18 17:57:11 Event Reminder
We could be targets for these calls if we do not place our numbers with the new "do not call" list recently introduced by the government. Even if our service providers have not sold our numbers their employees could very well take the list from them and sell them to someone else. I've had these calls originating from Nevada as well - both on my personal line (Rogers) and company blackberry (Bell.)

It is some car warranty stuff, but I don't even have a car!

they've called me 6 times now!
K10 2009-02-18 17:09:20 Unknown
I just got a call on my cell phone from the same number. I could not call the number back either.
I'm with Bell, so it's not a problem exclusive with any one service provider.

I pressed 1 and caught the guy in his lie, he didnt want to tell me the company. I asked if this was somehting that i already had or if he was trying to sell me something new, he said it was somehting i had, so i asked a few more questions and it turns out that this guy was trying to sell me a new warranty, but wouldnt disclose where he got my number from.
