The point is that a telephone number should be two-way; if there is a number displayed it should be reachable with a return call, or at the very least Bell or Rogers or Primus or Telus should be capable of quickly determining the owner (bill payer) of the number.

it should be a local number, but rang long-distance.  Obviously a spoofed number.  The male caller answered then quickly hung up.  Not sure what they want or why even bother calling.

Got a call from 4160208585.  When answered just background noise.  These calls are very frustrating and annoying.

I got a call from them 2 nights in a row, both times after 9pm. Pretty p-o'ed for sure... I gave the phone to my 2 year old and as she babbled away I heard "Hello? Hello?" on the other end, then they hung up.

this number calls my house quite often its always the same number but its not always the same scam

sometimes its telemarketers, sometimes it's a collection agency they ask for so and so I've got the is mr/mrs Campbell there and also a mr/mrs Callaway

also sometimes there trying to sell stuff, with a pitch like do you need air duct cleaning services.

sometimes they say there with windows technical support (the Canada choice thing i believe) and that there's errors on one of the computers in my house and there getting error messages from me and know my IP,,, this is a straight up scam.... they would then ask you to go to a site and download a remote control program so they can then hack you..

but a lot of the time since they know my voice... they just hang up.

Just got a call from this number. They asked for Mr or Mrs ____. When I told them there was no one by that name here the young sounding female just said um, um & hung up. This is obviously a very old phone list.

I got a call tonight on Apr 2 2012 at 9:16 pm from this number 416 020 8585  and they asked for me by my last name, when i said yes they hung up.

I tried to call the number back but the phone recording states this number does not exist.
This is not the first time this has happened.  I have reported it to my phone service provider and i will be reporting it to Bell Canada as well.  I may even report it to the police.

This number and another number which traces back to the US north carolina i think some jackson transmission shop or something

This number is a collections company.... they call and call asking for Mr. Campbell - when I say no one here, ask to be removed from thier list or ask for a manager they hang up.....

If someone finds out who they are I'll stop by the office in person get them to bugger off!

It may be not much help but shows a increase progress of this number being mentioned and what other people commented on other sites about it.

Only thing I found out is from a Bell landline using a callbot number which is why it comes back that number is not in service. Someone is using the callbot likely to hide their true phone number from those with caller ID

Just got the call apprx 8:45pm. I'm noticing on this forum, the person seems to call between 8:30pm to 9:30 pm. If the number is from a "call centre" then they are going against telemarketing policies and calling past 9pm. However it sounds like its one person who is trying to "test" what numbers they call are working so they can try to spam people later.

As the forum for this number seems to be at least one month fresh, beware that they may try to call with some hoax schpeel in the future with the same or not same number

Obviously a spoofed number since a 7-digit number can't start with a 0.

got a call today.  They hung up when I answered.  Too bad I was hoping to blow the whistle in their ear.

Got a call from this number but did not answer it.  Pretty sure it is a creditor, most those who call me are :o(

A call that seemed like it was long-distance (416) must be a spoofed number, asked for the homeowner (pleasant young female).  I advised we rent the property and they simply hung-up.  No idea the scam, but they had no interest in speaking.

Why is it Bell's fault, should they conduct personal interviews with every one who orders a phone line? Would you be willing to pay extra for that? It is also possible that Bell is not the carrier,it could be Rogers,Primus, or Telus. Think before you rant

Every night I'm getting calls from this number-never anyone on the other end and you can't call them back.

At 9:30 PM I received a call from the above mentioned number - 416-020-8585.  When I answered the call, and said hello, the person hung up, or sat on the phone saying nothing - very odd.

I called the number back, and the message I got was "The number you called is not in service".

To my understanding I am on the DNC List - not sure if this is a telemarketer, that can not staff their call centre appropriately to properly handle the volume that their dialer is spitting out, or if it's just somebody prank calling.

Called at 9:02 PM March 9/2012. Answered phone, silence on the other end. There was some noise in the background to suggest there was somebody on the other end, but did not reply to me. I called the number back, but a Bell recording said that it could not connect me to the number that I dialed. How can they call me and I can't call them back. The land line is more trouble than it's worth, and Bell sucks.

No one there and I cannot call to ID...Bell advises that call cannot be completed as dialed.

Called 8:30 pm no one there when answered. Bell says number cannot be completed????

No voice, nothing, just some j*** off telemarketing firm I guess.  Toronto

I picked up to hear someone say "F--k"! (Makes me wonder what they were selling.) I carefully hung up the phone but not before I let a nice long ripper into the receiver.
