I used to work for this organization and basically CIBC gives us a list of AEROPLAN members every month. They have an automatic dialer and not enough employees so a lot of times the computer gets through to you but no agents are available and they assume you will be all so patient and wait for an agent to come on the line while you wait through silence then we offew you the CIBC Aerogold Visa card which has an annual fee of $120 and you get 1 Aeroplan Mile for every dollar spent and 1.5 at some grocery/gas/drug stores and free 15000 aeroplan miles. Do the math you have to spend 10-15000 on card to get a free short trip, Interest rate is 19.99%! If you tell us to take you off list we will but it takes 30 days to process so please be patient.

I called them and they said that they represent a lot of canadian banks... chances are it was a call for a credit card "opportunity".

This number, 416-224-1484, has called my phone 5 times today and it is currently 1pm.
I screen my calls and figure if it's important enough then they will leave a msg.
This is about the third week that they have been calling, but not this often. This isn't the first time I've had some company calling for something. The other was an 866 area code, and I dealt with them already. It looks like I will have to do the same...it gets tired after a while; telling people off. I don't like doing it...

You think these a holes would have a listed number?

I doubt it!  They don't want to get such annoying calls and they know how the system works!

This number calls our house at all hours from 9 am to 9 pm. Today they called 3 times in 5 minutes. I refuse to answer a call that is not identified by call display or cannot leave a message. I am ready to disconnect our landline & only use cell phones. Idiots. Funny how I cannot trace this number as there "is no such number in Canada" yet it does display Ontario. Somebody please stop this!

Have called VOXDATA 1-(877) 869-3282 and the lady agreed to removed it from the calling list.

I was getting "harassed" by this phone # 416-224-1484 - called yesterday 17 times and this morning 6 calls.  So I said "enough of this" and called my local phone provider here who couldn't give me any information here.  So following the phone # that Andrew gave I called Bell Canada and was told that he would get my name removed from their list.  If this does not work I will keep harassing them until it is removed - enough is enough !!!  That is harassment and we do not have to put up with that kind of "phone spam" ...  

Thanks to the previous posts for your information. Hopefully Bell Canada will resolve this for me.

Calls my cell every 30 minutes but no one is ever there! I don't know how to block it, but it's VERY annoying. I called Bell but just got lost in administrative answering machines.

I'm getting phone calls at a rate now of 10-20 per day on my cell phone no less.  I'm going to call the 1-866 number and have my number removed.

Has anyone who added their number to their do-not-call list been successful?

When I answered, it was a courtesy call from BMO.
After I told the bi*** I wasn't intrested, she keeps calling back every couple of hours and then when I pick up, there is no one on the other end and finally it just clicks off.
I am going to complain at BMO about this Phone Terrorism!

Called 4 times yesterday, 7 times today. On my cell phone (Rogers). Never a message left and the calls are when I'm at work so I had to put my phone on silent...never leaves a message.

I believe I had the same situation a while ago, I fianlly answered and they were trying to sell me another cellphone. I had to hang up on him as he would not listen to me (was calling me on my cellphone, why would I want another one?). When I answered last time I THINK the guy said he was from Rogers, but he was difficult to understand...Indian accent.

Ugh, also getting numerous calls from this annoying number.  Have yet to talk to them, and after finding this site, I won't be answering!!  I also lodged a complain with the CRTC: http://www.crtc.gc.ca/RapidsCCM/Register.asp?lang=E

Phone me several times a day even though I said I wasn't interested back in September. I'm considering taking some legal action under harassment. They lie about where they got your number and they lie about why they're calling.

Just called my bank and they said that giving out customer information would breach their confidentiality policy, so that when VoxData says that they got my number from my bank, that it's not true. So obviously some other company has sold their customer's phone numbers to this telemarketing firm

I just googled VoxData and called them and they removed me from their calling list. They said that they got my number from my financial institution, which seems a bit fishy to me. They said they were just calling me to tell me I was preapproved for a Visa card.

I answered and someone said "aeroplan?" then just white noise.  This number frequents our caller id with loads of "last chance" for loan consolidation voice mails.  A nuisance.

yes this number is truly annoying.
I guess it is one of those company charging you to call back.
it has been banned in other countries where cell phones are widely used by law.
Canadian law, due to its charter and privace legislation, cannot do anything for these companies, even though it is blatantly defrauding cutomers.

I have also gotten three calls from this number. No voicemail, no response to text message asking 'who is this'.

They have been calling me for months. I have never answered because I don't answer numbers I don't know in the first place. It's is against the law for them to call you if you tell them to remove your name from the list permanently and for any reason. Let me know how this goes :) Good luck guys!

Calling everyday around the same time, if I don't answer then no message is left.

I started receiving calls from this tel# as well, never answered and when I call it back get an auto message about it being from a company called "VoxData" and they are calling as were hired to do so, then the line disconnects. I tracked down the company VoxData, found a website for them http://company.monster.ca/vda/ which lists a phone#  1-877-869-3282. I called and had my # removed from their lists.

If you do this, they are required by law to removed you. In 2001 a law was passed Federally which means every business in Canada must follow it called "PIPEDA" (Personal Information Protection and Electronic Data Act). It states that any business in canada can only use your information with your permission and consent, which you can withdraw at any time. If they do not remove your information, you can file a complaint with the Canadian Privacy commisioner, who will investigate the matter at the expense of the business. (The business has to pay for it reguardless of the outcome).

Men with strong Indian accent call me yesterday from this number and offered CIBC credit card.  He told that this card allows to obtain a lot of Aeroplan points.

I answer my cell in french...they always hang up.

I just called Bell Canada and they said to call 877-269-3282 to be taken off call list for Voxdata and when I called it from Nova Scotia it said it can't be used from our area.
All those in Ontario can use it I guess as we in NS are out of luck. If they call me again I am going to put them on hold and go back to watching tv.
