Got two treating calls from a junkie last might who claimed to know who I am and where me and my family live. Pretty weak stuff

Missed a call from 416-238-0000 at 12 this morning, didn't want to call back because I don't know anyone from Ontario who would be calling be at that time. Then I recieved another call from the same number around 4 this afternoon. Ignored the call, they haven't called back since.

This just happened to my parents back east this am.  Said it was my son calling and he was in Mexico w/ friends, got pulled over for a busted tail light and they "found marijuana" in the car and now he was in the US Embassy, and unless they sent $4300 today, his "court date" wouldn't be for 6 weeks.  The number was 877-903-3068 and the "officer" that also talked to my parents from the "US Embassy" was supposedly Charles Langdon.  Thankfully, mom called me and I confirmed my 16 year old son was home with me and not with his friends in Mexico!!  I just don't know how they knew my son's name as it relates to my parents, who live 3000 miles from me.  That's the scary part.  Where do they get this info?

Received a call from this number.  Picked up and hung up right away.  Called again, did the same.  Never speak to a number that shows 'Unknown' or Unavailable.

My father received a phone call from his grandson who was in jail in mexico city,  Needed 2500.00 to get him out. The Lawyer "Adam Hill" said he was in an accident and was found with alcohol on his breath so was arrested.  The Lawyer asked that the bail money be sent via western union to Jane Smith-White in Federal District Mexico City.  The unfortunate situation is that my father was so shaken up that he did not realize that my son did not say his name ,but just said "grandpa".The caller had a very believable story with details that could be true.When searched this number is registered in Quebec, Montreal, Canada.PLEASE BE AWARE AS THEY ARE TARGETING THE ELDERLY!

I got a call from this number today. It wasn't a scam... it was my brother calling on a calling card.

Theyve tried calling my IPod's number (only for texting) three times today.  Normally I call the number back on my phone, as it's usually a friend calling me back after I've texted them....but it was such an odd number I googled it. Thanks for posting this, now I won't bother.

Received a call at 10:30PM last night but they've been ringing my house all week. Knowing they've been scamming people out of thousands of dollars is disturbing alone. Please put a stop to them!!

you need to call your local FBI office since they are the only ones who handle scams an frauds such as this that have anything to do with the United States

Took my parents for about $7K.  Def had some personal info linking them to my stepson including names that weren't commonly used.  I suspect they are getting info from Facebook and then putting the pieces together to get listed phone numbers.  

Money was wired via Western Union.  My impression is that by now they are or should be well aware this is a scam, but as long as they get their cut from the victim sending the money they couldn't care less.  Don't they verify the identity of the people receiving the money???

This number is also used by a phone card service.

My mother received a call from this number... same as the others reported here.
"Hello Grandma"... stuck in Mexico and need $4800.  Luckily, she knows she doesn't have grandchildren.

Got a call from this number and they said "Hi Grandma. I'm in Mexico and had a fender bender and need $580.00. Can you loan me the money and I will pay you back." I said NO

I got a call from this number claiming that he is my grandson and needed help stating that he was in trouble.

It's just the number that comes up from a calling card. I'm glad I picked up because it was one of my best friends I haven't talked to in months calling from a Zen centre where he is otherwise unreachable.

Very sad to say that my 84 year old mom fell for this scam this week and the A$$holes took $8,000.00. We called the local police and they took the Western Union receipts.  I pray they get caught soon.  It's so sad how they prey on the eldery.  This was the "grandson in a Mexican jail" story......DAM THEM!

this number called me at 7:30 Am telling me to wake up, even though I had been up for an hour. It was a girl said her name was theresa and insisted that I knew her. She knew my name but I would not play along and hung up!

Yes, I got the same call this morning from that number.   He said "Hi Grandma".   He actually sounded like my grandson, so, kept talking to hear his voice.   He said he was calling from Mexico.   I asked why my ID on my phone showed Toronto.   He got a little nervous and gave some dumb response.   He said he was on vacation in Mexico with a another guy, and just as soon as he said those magic words " We've got a problem, Grandma, and I need your help".   I shut him down fast and said, " You can stop right there, you aren't going to scam this 86 yr. old lady!"   He wanted to know how I knew that and where I heard that...I just hung up.    Why can't these people be shut down?   I saw dozens of pages about this grandson/grandma scam on-line, and people are still getting scammed everyday.    I'm glad I had enough brain power left to recognize the scam.

Got a call from these scumbags claiming to be my grandson who needed 4000.000.  Too bad for them that my only adult grandson was sitting in my living room when they called.  I said a few things to the caller which I won't repeat here and hung up.

Jail is too good for these people.  I say put them into lifetime gravel production.

They called. My inlaws claiming to be my son who who was injured mexico and asked for 4500.00
My son was not in mexico..they were a scam

Received a call from this number.  Was a very good friend who was using a calling card he just purchased. This number is associated to a calling card.

A resident at our senior building just got a call from a young man saying that he was her grandson. Fortunately she was saavy enough to reject the call!

I had call from 416 238 0000. do you know how il will find the origin of the call

I rec'd a call this morning from "my grandson" saying he was in Ottawa to attend a wedding, was jailed for drinking and driving the wrong way on a one-way street and was calling from the "public defender's office" and needed $3,000. for bail.  The funny thing is that he really sounded like my grandson who I knew was at a wedding on the weekend but I was sure it was in St. Catherines.  Anyway, I became suspicious when he mentioned the "public defender's office" because that is an American term.  So I asked for the names of the friends he was with which is when the line went dead.  My message is to people to always trust your gut instincts and ask questions and don't divulge any information.  Oh yes, same phone no. 416-238-0000.

I just received a call....same thing 416-238-0000 thank you to everyone ... I just huung up.
