this numbers calls me almost on a daily basis.. wheni answer, i get dead air or fast busy signal, when i call back, i get fast busy signal ornot in service msg.  other sites say it is toronto sun soliciting or calgary harold newspaper soliciting? how to make it stop??!!!

Called tonight, you can hear something going on in the background, it's definitely not a machine/automated, probably someone scoping out home/not home patterns.  Will log this with PhoneBusters.

This number is one number off from mine. As soon as I got the number from bell, my phone was ringing off the hook with people bitching at me not to call them. I placed ZERO calls. At first I thought it was something with the phone, so I had the company check it out. After that, I started asking people which number they were trying to reach... 4575 was the number. Sorry, that is not my number, and I did not phone you!

To the ones who lied and said it was my number hoping some stranger was going to resolve it for you, well mlm....

It has died down now, but at the time I suggested those people contact the phone company. I ended up getting just as hot headed with it all after being bitched out again and again. Not to mention the vile and disturbing left on my answering service. Take the abuse up with the actual number violating you, don't call similar numbers and cuss out regular people.

Someone has begun to call me using this number. Is there no way to get this caller to a psychiatrist or straight to a mental asylum?

so anyone know of a way to get removed from the calling list if they never actually say anything when they call?  i suppose easy enough to tell a real person to remove you, but when its dead air, how can you say anything?  does saying 'remove me' to dead air count and can i now talk to the CRTC?

416 335-4575 has been calling relentlessly my home number for many days.  I was not at home to take the calls but my telephone registered all these calls, sometimes twice a day.  I tried to call the number but it is either busy or there is a message saying it is not in service.

Today, I was able to answer their call.  It was somebody with THE TORONTO SUN.  I told them to delete my number and never to call again.

Can somebody tell me how we can block these unwanted calls? Why is it not possible to get back to the number that called?

The only thing worse than these guys is bill collectors.  Previously being one myself, you can ask them for their fax number and fax a 'do not call'.  Typically works better than the CRTC's 'regulations'.

416-335-4575 called my Grandparents and claimed to be from the Toronto Sun and asked for the exiration date on my Grandmother's credit card. There isn't anything wrong with the credit card at all. So, this is very strange.

Holly Kao, I got many calls from this number, when i answer, thee is no sound, when i call back, it is busy tone. for a long time, I thought this is an international call! Cao Ta Ma (Chinese for Mother F..er!) What is wrong with these people???

this is an abuse that I am getting a this calls from 416-335-4575 and that is invasion of privacy.

Received many calls from this number. Generally, I treat unwanted callers like spam, if I do not recognize the sender, I do not open it.

I got the call from the same number tooo, some freaky guy was laughing, wierdo one :(

It's an automated dialing computer - they call, and IF someone picks up, the call is transferred to an available agent.  But if there's nobody available, there's nothing on the line, so you think it's a prank call...  and if you hang up, it registers to them as an incomplete call.  So they call you again... and again... until somebody talks to you.
It's one of the lowest forms of telecommunications marketing - they're too busy to call direct, and too busy to talk to you, so you lose out - often many times.
I just got it myself, after Googling it a few weeks ago for a friend who received the 'blank call'.
While there are website resources for "do not call" lists, you can raise a stink by inundating them (only if known & confirmed!!) with your own calls, emails, flyers, snail-mail (if you can afford lots of stamps!), etc...
Because these types of places have anonymous call-centre setups, chances are slim that you'll find out where they operate, but if "The Toronto Sun" is making the calls, contact the Publisher...

Find out the CRTC regulations about the "Do Not Call" lists - they may have 30 days to remove you from the computer, after you tell them to - meaning, you may get 30 more phone calls before it stops...  and the sleazier places simply won't obey your request.  That gives you power to take legal action.
But you need to know the law, your rights, and (unfortunately, their rights - the law allows this sort of behaviour up to a point).

Above all, try to stay cool & polite - if you're nice to them asking to be taken off the list, better chance it'll happen than if you scream & curse them to do it...  after all, like it or not, they're trying to make a buck - the owners are the sleaze...  the operators are making low wages or maybe just commissions, just trying to pay the rent... (would YOU do that kind of work if you had a choice??)

They call often - no one is there.  It's a auto dialer, if you stay on the line long enough they'll come on the line.

I used to ignore this number but now realize that if I answer, and keep the line open, THEY have to pay for an unsuccessful phone call!  Now, I just answer and put the phone down.  Hope they like the long distance bill.  I'm doing this now with all telemarketing numbers that come in.  It might be small, but it makes me smile.

my mother-in-law answered the phone today when this number called and when she said the owners weren't at home they asked her if she could make a decision for us.  Are you kidding me?

They call me every single day.  I don't answer, but they still call.   A few times when I did answer, I have asked them to put me on the do not call list but they still persist in calling me.

Call National Post security and tell them to stop calling you.
