this number keeps calling me

We received the exact same call over the weekend. We made an appointment to go see them, but after we hung up the phone we did a quick google search and found this blog (thank you!). We clearly realized it was a scam and didn't go to the appointment. So the day of the appointment arrived and we received another phone call us asking us what we would like to eat at our dinner appointment with the National Gift Store that night. I advised them we wouldn't be coming. The guy on the phone started getting angry with me demanding to know why I would make an appointment if I wasn't going to show up. I was very polite in the beginning, but after he persisted I told him flat out because I knew it was a scam.  He had the nerve to start going off on me and called me A F****NG BI***!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  Then he continued to verbally accost me, called me and a***ole and then hung up!!!!  THIS IS A BIG SCAM. What I'd like to know is how do I file a complaint for harassment? I tried all the numbers listed above, but was unable to get back in contact with them! THE NERVE!!!!!

Exactly the same scam as before and I thank everyone who posted this. I was on the phone for over 14 mins with a girl who couldnt speak English very well so when I told her I couldnt understand her a man came on. The number came up as 922137096411. They claimed I had filled out a 'ballot' or competition at either a number of places on Feb 18?? Including Food Basics and Walmart! Can they mention these companies? Is this legal? the address they gave was also 216 Chrislea Rd Woodbridge. Thankfully I declined when he tried to keep me on the phone for ages and wouldnt give me the number I needed because he had 'a lot of information' still to give me. How awful it is that these people can access my phone number, name and effectively lie!! Im glad I ended the conversation! Thanks again to all!

Same call today, this time they indicated the address was 1510 Drew Road Unit 6 in the Dixie and Derry Road area of Mississauga. Feeling lucky I was able to find this shared information as it saved me a trip and a negative experience. They identified themselves as Freeman International which is a "gifting Centre". The first man identified himself as Austin Richards and then I was passd on to the Manager, another man with a South Asian accent, named John Matthews. They stated I completed a yellow ballot last December at a Shopping Mall but were unable to give details. Thanks you for the posts.

just got a call from same people with the same modus operandi. while talking to him, i was online and was able to search this site and saw the comments here. immediately, made an excuse about not being able to attend their appointment. thanks for the posts.

Ya, i just got the call too. Same setup - 5 gifts (tv, $1000 cash, trips), just make an appointment with you and wife to come to the Woodbridge site.
The phone number was 1 221 709 6807.

just got off phone with them..they called  i didnt give them much info except that i made over 50 000 and that was enough..they said they were calling back in 15 minutes so i checked out this site..when they called back i told them i was reading some info on internet about them and as soon as i said that they hung up..they r lucky..im big joe for a reason im 6'2 and 290 lbs, if i went and was a scam someone would had a broken nose and it wouldnt be me..be careful everyone

Just got the same call today and let them give me whole pitch, exactly as above.
While I was talking I found this forum and read the posts. It's a scam.

I received a call yesterday:unknown name , unknown number. The caller said that he represented the company National Gifting Centre. I was told that my name had been registered in a ballot and that I had won one of five prizes and that I was to go to an address in Woodbridge to receive it and that I was to be accompanied by my spouse. I was told that it was only 16 minutes from my address, which I had not even  given to him. Immediate picture came to my mind of my house being broken into while my spouse and I were on our way to pick up our gift!!  Anyway, I said that I hadn't any interest and hung up.

National Gifting Centre changed phone number to 905 939 9120.  Their phone number is "private caller" when they call on phone.   Samuel Richards, "Bogus Company", hang up if they call.

Experienced the exact same call as everyone else.  Except the address had changed to 6877 Goreway Drive, Mississauga, Ontario.

SCAM SCAM SCAM!

I just got this same call and decided to do some searching around for details on this obvious scam. According to Canada 411, 416-342-1547 does not exist. After doing some searching online I was able to find this website:

Probably not a good idea to give out personal information either.

I received the same call and detail as above/below. I made an appointment for Sunday. I'm suspicious. National Gifting Centre and TVS are the same as above. Address was same as above. I am going to go to the appointment; I will report back after Sunday.

South Asian male called from 1-999-299-7676 saying that I have won a prize from a ballot I filled out during Christmas. Prizes were either a cruise, plasma TV, $1000, 1 week at a Hilton hotel with golf clubs, trip to Orlando. When I started asking questions, I was transferred to his "manager", another South Asian male. When I asked him who they represented, he mentioned a couple of names, National Gifting Centre and TVS Company or TBS Company. I was unable to make out the latter because of phone static. The manager also explained that it was companies that I made purchases over $100 over Christmas that had entered the ballot for me automatically. After asking me for some personal information (age 30-65, martial status, annual income (over $50k)) he asked me if I will pick up the prizes the next day (Wed) or the day after (Thurs). I declined. I said that weekends would be better and the manager said Saturday at 3:00pm, 5:00pm and 7:00pm. He also insisted that I come pick up the prize with my spouse. I said I would call him back as I "confirm" with my non-existent spouse.

His name was 'Robert' and the phone number was 416-342-1547. The address was 216 Chrislea Road, unit 202, Woodbridge, ON, Canada, L4L8F5
