Just got same offer for $1000 at Best Buy and found this thread from Google thinking it's a scam.  Thanks to those who have posted so far.

Also, I have only bought phones/plans from a Sprint Store only and try to avoid my local Best Buy & have never given them my number.  I seem to be proof against any Verizon / Best Buy selling info conspiracies.

On the way home from Best Buy when texted.  "Won $1000 in holiday overstock at Best Buy".  Wouldn't you think it might be legit?  But no, it wasn't.

I've got Sprint & received the same Best Buy $1000 text.

I kinda wonder if they don't harvest phone numbers from Facebook profiles or something?

I got the Best Buy one. Almost fell for it, too, since I haven't entered my phone number anywhere online except when I was ordering something from Best Buy a week or two ago.

The link gave it away, though. http://redeem6.com/w?!i2g8244  looks sketchy as hell. Thank goodness I Googles first.

The Scam is similar to a ponzie sceme and has traces of much worse. They ask for email, but using the full text web address will most likely link your phone as responding. Its not asociated with Walmart, Verizon, Best Buy, or any of those well known highly profited companies. They use those companies to lure you in. I often elude to a rabbit hole in my posts. This is one of those rabbit holes.

They will require that you complete 6 offers of questionable content, reliablity, security and have language that really sets my hairs on end. "Offers might [my  thoughts: might = will require] require ****Opening Credit Card and Transfering Balances*****) You have just invited someone to steal your information, drain your banking account and ruin your credit score.

Note: Its a sceme, Website is a trap: you will not experience errors or unwanted messages until you try to leave.

Walmart is the well known name and brand they are using. The text is not associated with Walmart. Its a trap and resembles a ponzie sceme. I did not look deep enough to find the actual groups using this solicitation device and means. However, its clear that you'll go far into a rabbit hole and get trapped, wish you never started and still in all likelyhood not recieve the reward you jumped all the flamming hoops for. They use words like "Offers might require you to *****Open a Credit Card and Transfer Balance******* Major tip off there.

Same text string, they use mutiple different phone numbers. http:/redeem7.com/*random*

If you entered this site: Exit internet through your Task Manager and end internet explorer task. Website is like a Rabbit Hole with Trap and Farmer covering entrance.  In otherwords, the site does not want you to leave. But wont show anything wrong as long as you keep entering.

The Random part of the text most likely will direct the database that your particular phone access code showed interest.

This 95% sure it is not attached to either Best Buy or Verizon. They want you to complete sub offers in order to get the "reward". In the end you'll spend more money then possibly save, they give you 120 days to complete 6 offers that will subscribe you into even more nonsense and rewards processing will take 6-8 weeks. 6-8weeks for a card in the mail?????? 99% sure that even after completeing the 6 offers you still wont get the "reward". The end result. Mass amounts of people you don't want having your number texting you scams that resemble a ponzie sceme. But the people reading this blog are already tipped off. Its the ones who don't look into to good to be true scenerios that I worry about.

First Webpage is a Congragulations Screen and asks for Email Address. Its a gimick. Not the Stars for proof.

I enclosed the summary of requirments. did not proceed past first webpage and do not feel the need to for it reads like a ponzie sceme. Don't go down the rabbit whole, you'll find a trap and a smart farmer covering the entrance up..

SUMMARY OF PROGRAM REQUIREMENTS. Credit card offers may require you to activate the card by making a purchase, transferring a balance or taking a cash advance.********* 5) Follow the redemption instructions. All program requirements must be completed within 120 days of the date of registration. Allow 6-8 weeks for delivery. Limit of one (1) gift per household. No cash redemption value.
