i am getting annoying calls from this numbers all same (police amateur, Canadian cancer, burning victim... wherever) asking for donation

I just now got a call from 416-628-4564 claiming to be from Toronto Police Association and soliciting for needy kids. I was suspicious but said I would donate. I was then asked to wait for a verifier. She asked "Visa, or Mastercard?" At that point I said, neither, that I would prefer to be invoiced. After 5 seconds of silence the line went dead. Obviously, not legit.

I got the call from the same number asking for my manager as well. He avoided all my questions and hung up. I called the Toronto Police Association to ask if they were doing any fundraising right now and the person told me that all their fundraising is done by an outside organization and she gave me the number 416 628 4563. But it all does sound very fishy.

Hi i got a call from 416-628-4563 almost everyday looking for the office manager. obviously, i wont just transfer the call without getting some background info eg his name, his name, his organization etc. he never want to leave me any info and said he will call back another time. he sounds nice but fishy.

If this is, as recipients say, the police association, why don't they stop? I have told them repeatedly that I can deal with mail solicitations but that telephone is out of the question. Even if their organization is worthy, and I suspect that it is, the police should not solicit by telephone. It is a huge imposition on us.

Got a call on June 10 at 8:59pm. Not the first time I received a call from this number. I didn't answer and it didn't leave a voice message.

I also got a call from this 4166284563 number today. when I answerd they cut the line. I called back and it says Toronto Police Association . This is not the first time we got the call .3 years ago my husband donated $50.00 to them .That time he even not working. This is a land line. If these people are fake police why toronto police is not taking any action against them. Do we have to go and make a complain in the local police station?I am confused.

I got a call from this number 416 628 4563 & the guys was claiming to be from Toronto Police Association. He asked for sponsorship for an enevt for under previlaged children. He asked for $100 to sponsor 5 kids. When I said no, he was asking for any contribution. I said no & he disconnected. He sounded creepy.

Claimed they were from the Toronto Police Association doing a fund raiser.
Seems suspicious. I don't know why the police department does not seem to be warning anyone about culprits doing this in their name.

got the same msg youre all getting but from 647-722-5917. i called it back and they gave me that 1-800-#....just 'googled' the 1-800# to see if it was legit...and it led me to this website!! ahhhh...apparently theyre all connected!!
just so you know its not just this 416 number making the calls. how frustrating...you cant even screen with caller id!!

Same call mid morning. Four rings and hangup. How can I stop it?

I get calls from this number several times a week.  I never answer and they never leave a message.  Is there any way to stop this?  I see from the other comments that this is obviously a scam artist who is abusing the phone lines.

got sick of this number waking up my child during the day. Called 1-800-223-5315 as they suggest, and  hit 9,1 to register my number (as displayed by caller id) for do not call with their service center. hope it works!

Got a call from them tonight, claimed to be calling from the Toronto Police Association to get me to buy a ticket for a disabled child to attend a Christmas event. I said I didn't do donations over the phone and they said that was fine they could mail me something and I could respond with a cheque or money order. The guy asked if I would donate $30 and I said fine - although now I'm wondering why that's important for mailing.
He then passed me to a verifier to verify my address which she did. Then she said "visa or mastercard?" like I had forgotten and I repeated that I would respond to their mail if I wanted to. Then she said ok and hung up without even taking down my last name. It didn't seem right to me.
I called the Toronto Police Association (found their number on the internet) and asked if they were doing this charity. The guy immediately said "Oh, you got a call from Xentel?", he sounded like he's gotten a lot of calls about this. He says that Xentel purchases add space in their magazine and they do work with them for their charity events. He said they did have a children's Christmas event 2 weeks ago so that's what the call was about. Isn't it weird that they would be asking for ticket money to something that happened 2 weeks ago? I didn't press it further, but this whole thing seems really wrong. The guy on the phone for Xentel was giving me the high pressured sales "don't you want to help a sick child?" kind of thing.
The Toronto Police Association should be more careful what companies they sell ad space to and associate themselves with.
Hopefully these postings will stop anyone from giving out their credit card information over the phone - just don't do it, for anybody.

its Mar 10 @6.40PM...i too got a call .. soon as I picked up the receiver ... nobody speaks ...bleak silence of 31seconds; i say hello twice ...then a White Male speaks asking "hi is this XYZ" (my second name) ... i say "Who's Calling;... the caller just repeats my second name ..again i say "Who's Calling" and again he just repeats my second name ....Third time i say "who's calling" ..the caller says "you have a nice day" bye now" ... and hangs up.
my call display showed the number 416 628 4563. i google this number i come across this  website and i see people are being hassled since the year 2007....its a good thing so many people have shared their experiences.

And to the caller known as toronto police association....I BET YOU'RE SQUATTING UNDER SOME BRIDGE RIGHT NOW READING THIS TOO..THEN READ THIS  WELL ...; i don't care what POLICE association you belong to; i don't encourage beggars and begging and Nor does any taxpayer for that matter.

Getting daily calls from this number after 9am....no message left

I just got a call from 416 628 4563.  The fellow was claiming to be raising funds for the Children's Wish Foundation.  I called the Toronto City Police and they said this is a scam and not to send any money.  They said any fundraising associated with them will be through the Toronto Police Association and will be asking for money to send children to the circus.  If you *69 the number, it will come up as blocked.

Got a call from this number this evening.  Caller explained he was calling on behalf the police association raising money to buy tickets for events for kids in our neighbourhood and that I had contributed before in 2006.  Don't know if I did or not but when I started to explain that we would not be doing any more donations over the phone, he hung up before I was finished.

I got a phone call from this very number and the female on the phone only stated "hello" twice hung up and said nothing alse...

I recieve a call from this number almost everyday at my workplace and sometimes twice on the same day, someone only replied once and apoke in a very rude manner, asking for someone, and when I stated it was not a household, the person asked for a manager and then questioned about my work, and what the organization does rudley and definately did not speak professionally.

they called about providing a meal for kids and when I asked him for his charity number he said he didn't have one and I mentioned that all charities have one and he basically told me to have a nice day and happy holidays
