Hi there, we just recently got a call from this phone number stating that my computer was sending off error messages through the internet and that they could see that my computer had a virus.  I am a tech-savvy girl and take really good care of computer and have a computer genius brother who will look at it if there is any type of wrongs to it.  They were trying to hook up to our computer using http://www.teamviewer.com/en/index.aspx which will allow him access to my laptop.  I stopped him and told him that I didn't understand that if he wasn't our internet provider how could he see that my computer had a virus and that microsoft won't be carrying any virus and if it had he wouldn't be able to see that either.  Lucky I  had read the website just in time that it said that he could gain access as if he was sitting right infront of it, so I put him in his place and he hung up quickly.  Sucker.  P*** can't outsmart me! But it would have been devasting if it were someone else who picked up the phone and gave him access to our home computer(s).

Yes, these b*****ds are scammers. Did you not read my 21 Mar 2011 reply to Randy McGuire on page 1 re. their website techmasters4u.com? 416-628-XXXX are landlines in Ontario, CA but 416-628-5465 might be spoofed. If you cannot call the numbers they gave you, their intention is to prevent you from ever calling them. Cut off all contact with them.
If a stranger calls you, never let him remote into your PC. If you call them and you know they are a reputable company (like if you called Microsoft), then it's OK to let them into your PC because you know for sure whom you're talking to. A stranger who calls you and wants to remote into your PC is most likely a scammer, especially if they say "We have reports that your computer is generating error logs" as reported by Randy McGuire.
First of all, do not use your PC to log into any website especially financial accounts. If you've done so after they'd remoted into your PC, consider those logins to be compromised. As soon as humanly possible, borrow a trusted friend's PC to log into those accounts (but do not use any public PC), change logins, security Q&As, etc., and inspect account profiles to see if anything else has been changed like your email address that your bank would use to contact you. Tell account admins what happened - they may want to completely replace your accounts just to be on the safe side. It's a race against time to regain positive control of your accounts before any money gets stolen so do this like *NOW*.
I assume you've contacted your card issuer and killed your card, right? Tell the issuer this is fraud and not a dispute, if you say dispute, the issuer may tell you to work it out with the scammers and you know that's useless. Tell the issuer about their bad phone numbers and this 800notes page. If you haven't killed your card, do this *NOW* as well, many issuers have 24/7 phone numbers to report lost/compromised cards.
There's no telling what malware might have been installed on your PC. One fix is to scan your PC with various antivirus/antispy software, many available off the net, some free for personal use (malwarebytes, avira, immunet, etc.). Malware is frequently offered in suites nowadays so there may be several (banking trojan, spam bot, etc.) living on your hard drive and scanning, even with several flavors of software, may not get them all. The safer option is to reformat your drive and reinstall the OS - this step destroys everything on the hard drive including all your data. If you've clean data backups, reformat is better than scanning. If you don't have clean backups, connecting another drive to your PC and copying data to it at this point is risky because malware can infect the other drive as well, what to do then is a tough call. Until you get it fixed, power it down, unplug all the wires and park it, don't use it to go on the net anymore because malware can call home and download other nasties. Once a stranger has remoted into your PC, it's no longer your PC and cannot be trusted anymore until it's cleaned out. If you don't know how or haven't geek friends, your best bet may be a local shop, tell them what happened and pay them to do it. They can certainly give you better advice than I, I am not a geek.
Beware your name and contact info may be sold on to other scammers as a person who has been successfully scammed so you may soon receive more scam calls.

I had these guys clean up my computer.   My computer was so slow I was about to get rid of it.  Now it has never ever been this fast since.  I watched everything they were doing and never did they go into anything that required a password.  Now I am starting to wonder perhaps they were scammers because I am trying to call them from the same phone numbers they gave me and it says the no you have dial are currently unavailable or this no. is not in our area. The nos. are 1 416 628 - 5465 and 1 800 791 - 6494. This guy D.G.(his nickname) said, I could phone anytime I had a problem.  Could someone please reply to my e-mail and know any of these phone numbers, or worked with D.G.
If they are scammers and since I have use them what should be done with my computer?  Thnx

And what has web design (site content) got to do with site registration? Giving site registration to the web designer won't help site design at all. Like if your car has a problem, giving its registration info to your mechanic won't help him solve the problem. Go back to shill school. Come back when you've a better answer.

Googling "saral group housing" reveals...
1. Saral CGHS = Saral Cooperative Group Housing Society Limited (can B-608 be a 6th-floor apartment number?)
2. techmasters4u.com isn't listed as a computer-related business on dwarkaguide.com
Given that techmasters4u.com was only registered <3 months ago, is registered to an apartment(?) in India, uses a gmail instead of a techmasters4u email address for contact, isn't listed as a computer-related business on dwarkaguide.com, and calls you up and states "We have reports that your computer is generating error logs," well gee whiz, can techmasters4u.com possibly be a scamming site?

THIS IS A SCAM. Read about the your-PC-is-infected scam here http://news.softpedia.com/news/Cold-Call-Tech ... on-150170.shtml They lie about your PC sending out malware, error messages, etc., and say your PC is about to crash to frighten you into giving them remote control of your PC to fix the nonexistent problem (don't let them!). If they ask you to open the systems tab in eventvwr.msc to see all the errors, these harmless errors are *normal* for any Windows PC (mine has several and it runs just fine). Don't let them take control of your PC because they can download *real* malware, possibly a malware suite, that can spam, steal bank logins and personal info, etc. If they've remoted into your PC, the safest fix is to re-format your drive and re-install your OS assuming you have clean backups of your data. You can try scanning with various antivirus software but scanning may not find all the malware. If you don't know how, get help from friends or pay a local shop to do it. THIS IS A SCAM.

The only way you're ever going to get anyone to believe all these lies is to learn English. Your illiteracy in all your fake testimonials makes your scam obvious.

Techmasters live up by their name. This is the best and the most COMPUTER literate customer service i've ever got. I am a network administrator myself with Cisco enterprises.Thats why its hard for me to find anyone who can match up with the level of network troubleshooting and hardware support that we guys get trained upon. But these fellas prooved me wrong ; for the first time in life i could say, I had spoke to someone who knew exactly what i was talking about. Further more, the fact that the rep (i guess his name was) REMIL, was very  knowledgeable. I was completely amazed by the level of competent service i had received and thats why from a network administrator, to a common man, TECHMASTERS4U comes extremely recommended.
GOOD JOB GUYS !!!! THUMBS UP

Amazing how all the fake positive reviews are so obviously from people who barely speak English. I guess these scammers write it as badly as they speak it over the phone.

I was very impressed with Techmaster4u.com and the engineer who helped me was very patient, caring and vert resoureful. Abd people who says, that they didn;t have good services probably because they were not patient enough to go thru the process with a enginner.  I have been to technicians several times and asking him to speed up my computer with no satisfactory results.  Thank you so much D.J. for everything you did for me and your constant patient. If any one of you do not belive in techmasts4u you should take a second thought on it. I'm not trying to trick anybody. Maybe it is a scam. Maybe not, I don't know. But the fact that you assume I am working for them and trying to trick people is an example of paranoia distorting real facts. It's a perfect example of what i am trying to say about the company. How do we know that it is a scam? Maybe just these particular practices are only engaged in by scammers, but are there no examples of legitimate companies that assist people through remote assistance? There are third party software programs designed to facilitate remote assistance for this purpose, but is that supposed to be only for use with the company microsoft? I don't know. Maybe you know more than i do?

Anybody who calls you out of the blue and claims your computer is working is engaging in social engineering and attempting to steal information from you and/or take over your computer by installing malware. Anybody. No exceptions. This is a SCAM.

But you already know that don't you "jj"? Otherwise why else would you be here trying to trick people?

Called stating that "We have reports that your computer is generating error logs" Proceeded to tell me that this could be harmful to my computer, and began a process which I believe was aimed at getting me to provide the caller with remote access to my computer. Hung up quickly when I told him that I wanted my computer to generate error logs as this was helpful for troubleshooting errors. This call is clearly targeted at non-computer savvy people and in a worst case scenario could result in the caller gaining complete access to your computer and possession of ever last piece of data stored therein including all online banking data, personal contacts, personal financial records etc. EXTREME DANGER! DO NOT ALLOW YOURSELF TO BECOME INVOLVED IN ANY KIND OF CONVERSATION WITH THIS CALLER!
