I just got the call and it was someone speaking a foreign language. Sounded like a Middle Eastern Asian language. I told him he got the wrong number and so he told me "Oh, sorry" in broken English. I got a call an hour ago from a number that displayed as "5" but read on my voicemail as "5666667" and it was someone who left me a voicemail in a foreign language too. Bizarre.

today sept 2, 2009 a person call me from this number 416-642-0882 and said he is the police and is coming to get me

I just got the call at 3:40 pm, Wednesday September 2nd, on my cell.  She referred to me by the first initial of my first name, followed by my last name, which is how I fill out forms on various things, never use my full name.  Anyways, she said she was from Mont Blanc, he name was Monique.  I kept asking what she wanted, but she wanted to verify she was speaking to "me" first (my first initial, again).  She said she would call back and I told her to go F-herself for wasting my time.   Can you blame me?

Received a suspicious call from a Janeen or Janine Walsh asking for information about my company...
Now very concerned after reading the above posts.

If next time this number calls again with some obscene topics, just have some guts to keep this frick on line and use your cellphone calling police to trace him. it is federal offence to use pupblic communications for harrasing people.
Another suggestion is never to give your phone numbers when filling up forms when attending trade shows. I just got my new phone number and everything was OK, but this crap happened AFTER I filled registration form when attending Canadian Manufacturing and Technology trade show in Toronto.

Got a call from this number asking for my card for verification. Tne caller has a western cowboy accent. Last two weeks ago, I got a call from this same number, the caller has an indian accent.  They are scams fishing for info.

called me today at 2:08pm.  the caller identified herself as monique from montblanc and wanted to speak with someone at our office.  told her he was not available and she asked if he would be back later today, i said no can i help you with something.  she paused and said she would call back later.

lots of background noise and she didn't sound very professional.

Just got a call... sounds like the guy that everyone is describing here. Heavy accent and almost inaudible. He kept saying things like:

'You have a Bell line, ok?'
'You pay $50/month, ok?'

I told him repeatedly that I don't have a Bell line and, of course, if he was from Bell he would know that. Then I just hung up on him.

They're pulling a scheme and are hoping to get some nice old ladies on the phone to fork over some money. Just hang up if you get a call.

Got a call from this number. The man claimed to be from Bell Canada and wanted to speak with the person who pays the phone bill. Imagine that. Bell Canada calling a customer and not knowing the name on the account.

Exact same call as bjay. Person claimed to be from "Visa Mastercard Company" saying I had been selected for a trip to Florida for 4 people. I asked for a contact number to call them back at and they gave me the 1-800 number for TD Waterhouse. Given that TD does not issued Mastercards the whole thing is completely suspect.

Person on the phone requested the 7 digits on the back of my Mastercard (which I made up as well as the fact that I even had a Mastercard at all), then he asked for the 3rd block of numbers on the front of the card, to which I again made up along with the expiry he requested. I asked him if he could verify my card immediately and he answered yes. He then read out a bunch of numbers which was supposely my Mastercard number and asked me to verify. I again questioned him if this was the number he had pulled from his database and he said yes. I can only assume he wanted me to correct his number and thereby give him a legit credit card number with expiry and the security code on the back.

The Caller addresses you as Mr. "insert your lastname here" or Ms. "lastname" and can obviously get your address through the phone book. Do not fall for readily available information as being verification that they are legit!

I've since reported this to the OPP but given that the number appears to be some cover number I doubt it's traceable. My only advise to people is to be EXTREMELY skeptical of phone calls which dangle carrots.

got a call from BRG Business Associates Group just now from a different phone number though (416) 642-0882.  Address is the same, 216 Chrislea Road.

i put up with half an hour worth of the guy talking, tell me i won 1 of 5 prizes.  booked a time with me and wanted me to go this saturday.

he knew my name, my fiance's name and both our cellphone numbers.  the guy mentioned something about a purchase I made at Sears on 02/18/09 that qualified me for this prize.

but i don't remember buying anything from Sears.

Got a call from this number.  Missed the call.  When I tried to callback, it was busy.  After reading all the comments, I'm glad I missed it! Thanks!

I got called six times from the same number in one day!They would begin the phone call by asking if I could speak Chinese and then once I said "Yes" the lady went on and on. I hung up she called back. I told her not to call again in English and she said " I think you can speak Chinese". It's so annoying. DON"T PICK UP if you get a call from this number !!!

I got call from this number and missed the call. when i called back it alwasys busy. so i believe it is not a good idea to call back.

I have been getting random calls on my cell phone recently.  This number just called me a few seconds ago.  I didn't pick up.

They said they were "I-Talk" a chinese phone company...I asked to speak to the manager and was told that I would be called back!
And the number...busy or not in service...

i have recieved a call from this number twice now today. old woman saying "hello dear"  ...im assuming it is one of those voice boards u can get online with familiar sentences.

somebody jut called with that caller ID...he said we had just wopn a free package..I didn't let him go further than that..."Click"...goodbyeeeeeeeee...scam artist for sure...they would know addresses specially if you are listed on 411.com /411.ca/Canada 411....

Hi guys, this number isn't a phoney number, some companies use it to push numbers through other providors to lower costs. Our service - FreePhoneLine is a VoIP service that is, well, free. This number is a generic numbers most companies use to push the call through Bell, Rogers, Primus, Comcast etc... When they don't like the number, or don't like the fact that we want to run through their service without paying them they block the number or get a bit touchy on who they let through.

someone called me from this number asking about my credit cards information and hi said he is calling from visamastercard he said it the same that i wrote it and he said he want to confirm the information he have about me and when i start asking him questions and felt like he is crock he hung up and when i called back the number just busy all the time and it has been a month now.

I have been getting a call from this number for 8 months now...sometimes once a week, sometimes several times a day. They know my name and claim to be someone I went to school with, and then they pursue to ask me some really perverse questions. Its pretty disgusting and I want the calls to stop. Its really creepy. I phoned Bell to ask them if they would block the number, but they said they would'nt!

Didn't answer but when I try to call the number back its not in service. Really annoying.

They called me, and they knew my last name! They were like:

just looked on some other sites and this seems to be an issue with alot of people, however the rcmp and the opp have apparantly set up a joint task force to deal with this after several complaints about the same thing, which they call phonebusters 1-888-495-8501

weird, I have unlisted numbers both home and cell, and only my family knows my cell phone number yet I got a call from this number on my home phone and I didnt answer, then immediately afterwards they called my cell phone. The only thing I can think is that I wrote to a family member today on facebook and left both my phone numbers in their private mailbox. I cannot think of any other way for them to have known my number and apparantly this is a problem with fb hacking. I think it is possible that it is one of those free switching networks so that number comes up for others if being used (free long distance numbers usually). Just saying, since I used to work for Bell and we saw that alot.

this number is for a free long distance service and instead of changing your name to private, it just uses a random no existant caller id which i reality is pretty much a private call with a custom caller id displayed.

so whoever is calling you knows you or got your name from the white pages.

Called visa never heard of this cancelled my visa # right away

It's odd.  Got a call from this number claiming they were looking for "someone" who needs to call back....they quoted a case number.  I called the number and it is out of service. It could be a temporary number assigned to a trunk line and many business/people use it because it cannot be traced, and the price is cheaper if they use trunk lines ( yielding flat rate times ).  It is a hastle however, remember, they can only call twice a day, legally.
