received a call from 416-646-8788 and was expecting a call from this area code so I answered it. it was a telemarketer selling subscriptions to the globe and mail where you received a 6 month discount on the daily newspaper Mon to Sat for $7.97 per week for 6 months it also included full access to their website which now requires a fee for daily access that is outrageously high IMHO. I told her I had to think about it and asked for a number to call if I wanted to accept the offer. She told me the offer would be available until the end of March 2014 and gave me a number for customer service. She tried a few times to get me to sign up but definitely was not a hard sell and i was easily able to end the call.  It seems this number was used by the Toronto Sun previously for a similar deal.  She sounded like she was Canadian with no accent at all.

GRRRRRR   too many calls from this number and I tell you when I decide to talk to them  ... they will want to go back home

This is one of those marketing callers from India. In this one they are selling for the Sun so I guess they are legally ok to bug you as much as they want..
I would never give any caller that I do not know any info what so ever.

They just called, didn't leave a message. If they are telemarketers for the Toronto Star the do not call list doesn't apply to them as they are a newspaper. Newspapers are exempt from the list and can call anyone.
I don't answer any callers I don't know, that's what my voicemail is for. I've found that not answering callers I don't know (over time as my number is dropped from lists) has meant I hardly ever get any junk calls anymore.

Amazing....if you like or share a Sun News article on Facebook, suddenly you start to get these telemarketing calls. Coincidence?

This not some company for a newspaper... this is a scammer... Either they hacked into Toronto stars or any of the mentioned servers and stole customer information. they ask for "customer information" when they have it sitting in front of them well... the info they need to contact your so they can get your financial info so they can steal your identity >.> needless to say if you get this number calling, record the time and date and forward it to your newspaper provider so they can look into any leaks on their end. >.> Good luck and hopefully you haven't been robbed yet.

i called it back, its a marketing call from the toronto sun (sun media)

This number called three times in one day asking about our subscription and if we had paid it. When it has already been paid.

I got a phone call from 416-646-8788 to verfify if I paid my with "Daily Press" 3 months subcription for my newspaper.  As per the caller, his system wasn't update since almost 2 months...and my bill wasn't paid....it was.

I found that :  Call from "Toronto Sun" which own by "Quebecor Inc.
