I've been ignoring the calls for months and they are still calling. I just called them back. It is The Toronto Star. I told them to take my number off their calling list and they said they would.

I work midnight shift so I am sleeping early evening and this number calls every night or two and wakes me up. I have call display on my cell phone but it doesn't say who is calling. No one answers if I do answer. If its the Toronto Star its union employees are no doubt on one of there many smoke breaks or making false videos about mayor Rob Ford.

It's The Toronto Star.

Just e-mail circmail@thestar.ca and ask them to stop calling you.

Newspapers are exempt from the national Do Not Call List, but The Toronto Star has their own Do Not Call List.

I am on Do Not Call list in the registration system. I am a sales person myself. I do cold calls as well. But by law, I have check if the person on the list or not before hand. A company or a business calling people who are on Do Not Call List will face penalty/fine for breaking the law. We shall file a complaint against Toronto Star

My daughter just died very suddenly and we are all devastated.  My family and friends are calling from all over, and now I am receiving at least two, sometimes 3 call per day from 416-646-8789--no one there, just empty air. I can't tell you how cruel this is.  I will try to follow all suggestions to stop this harassment.  Some sick mind with nothing else to do is behind this.

Yes the Star employes people for minimum wage to sell it's paper a-la telemarketing, they call people and probably hang up before you answer. They likely appear busy to their idiot supervisors or are simply monitored by the amount of calls they have to make within a certain period of time. Hey Star nobody wants your obsolete sponsor filled paper anymore, it's called the internet :)

do you really think that "do not call list" works?  have you seen the loopholes?  is there any enforcement?  is there any way to stop someone from using the list to make calls from outside the country?

I receive about 4 call per day - every day from these idiots. They start at about 8:30 Am and the latest was about 9:45 PM. When you pick up, no one is there.  I have called them to have my number removed - still getting calls after 7 months.

Thanks for the clues on how to avoid nasty calls from Toronto Star.
Who knew News papers were exempt from he National Do Not Call
List.  "Monica" from IVY telephone subscription company assure me
That the Newspapers are exempt because they bring Unbiased Nationaal
Newsworthy Information to the People/Public.  "You obviously have
Never read that Socialist Rag they call the Toronto Star, I replied, to which
Monica laughed aloud.  See, even IVY telephone sales people now
The Star is printed in Red ink!  Thankyou Spamalicious and AH.

They will stop calling for about a year and then it starts all over again.  I purchased a Panasonic cordless phone few months ago and it has Call Block but one may have to subscribe to Call Display, not sure.
