This robopest needs to learn that persistent calls to uninterested consumers does them no good at all. Quite the opposite.

amfriesen 2014-01-10 19:08:31 Telemarketer
got a call from this number on work phone - silence then chimed in with confirming it is this business name
then spewed out a bunch of things in a very thick east indian accent - didn't understand much but talked about saving money and long distance - said that this is a business and i didn't think they knew who they were calling - hung up as no response but at least stopped talking when i started - lots of background noise as well, general hum

4 and 5 times a day these idiots are calling!!! Can't they leave people alone already. If we tried it, we'd be arrested!

They've called at least 3 times now. Last night my mother told them (National Post) she's not interested and they just called again right now...

Calls all the time during the Fall subscription drive. They offer significantly reduced rates and online access. Given most of the news is free and online anyways, not sure why they even bother.

I keep getting calls from this number, when we answer nobody there, very annoying

The problem is that the No-call list does not really work.
Telemarketers, scammers, crooks from overseas, particularly Pakistan and India still phone.
They manage to get a different phone number every 2nd week, these phone numbers are forwarded to their country and they phone us. Particularly those "Duct Cleaning" guys with a Pakistaneese accent. When it is not these duct Cleaning guys, it is the ones saying they are representing Microsoft and say there are viruses on my computer.
There is also these automated phone calls, coming from who no where, saying I have won a cruise and to to learn more about this I have press a key on my phone. Then the longdistance charges are charged to me.
There is also this automated phone call about my credit card, saying that this is the second and final notice. But there was no previous phone calls. This is another Credit card scam.
I have hard that these crooks/scammers from overseas are finding their "preys" phone number on the National No Call List.
So, I do not know what the government can do more. The no call list is for Canadians. The crooks & scammers from overseas do nod care and do not respect our policies.

They call 3 times a day. I already put my name on a no call list 6 months ago. so that didn't work.

416-646-8790 I'm getting calls from this number during the day and in the evening.
No one responds when I answer. I'm on the DNC list but what good is it if some telemarketers can still call. If I want a newspaper subscription, I will call them and request one! Something needs to be done as these companies will not listen to individuals. I've had to turn my phone off at night to avoid these calls. Stop calling.
A.Waheed 2013-07-24 14:58:56 Unknown
Please stop calling.
tom 2013-07-15 17:23:57 Unknown
meh.
newspaper/magazine subscription calls are a pain in the neck, but at least they're trying to make a legitimate sale, unlike the various con artists and hustlers. personally, i don't need or want dead trees delivered to my doorstep, but other people may feel otherwise, and the telemarketer is just trying to make a living at a low-paying "job".
if you don't want their product, just say no.

What you should do is
Pick up the phone then say hold it, please, then put the phone on a table and continue your business.

beachlover 2012-12-08 00:24:32 Unknown
My proven way to stop these calls......
Answer, speak immediately so the computer will transfer to a live person. Then have fun with it, tell them you are so interested, but keep doing things, like answering doorbell, getting pen and paper, getting credit card.
The more you can waste that live person's time (and wages) will get you off call lists faster than any "do not call" list. I do this, and they never call again, and I have rarely been getting new calls.
Hit them where it hurts, the wallet.

416 646 8790-91
This is a call centre for the Toronto Newspapers. If you block 90 then they will call you on 91.
Is this harrassment or what.
I think it is time to address this to our overpayed MP's and get our rights looked after instead of the big business empire.
neilg 2011-08-22 17:51:54 Unknown
Newspapers are exempt from the national do not call register. You have contact each one explicitly if you want to be removed.
Hollywoof 2011-07-26 18:01:04 Unknown
This number calls our establishment several times a day and it is frustrating because we have to drop everything to get the "customer" on the phone and when we answer it is silent... i have waited and counted to 30 once to see if it would have a delayed recording but nothing... i called back and still silence... not even ringing...
