Urgent call every day asking for James Crosby

Left a pre-recorded message for unknown named person, claiming it to be 'urgent'. Left a toll free 1-877 number, but sounded suspicious.  

This number is connected to a collection agency based in Ontario.  The ph.# for their main office is 416-504-2000...then choose #2 for collections.  They are Excel Collections Services Ltd., and their address is 505-555 Richmond St. W., Toronto ON, M5V 3B1

I finally tracked down the main office number for Excel and actually talked to someone from that company.  He agreed that our number was being called and apologized for the "mix-up".  We have been getting daily calls for months now at all hours of the day.  This person said they would remove our name from their phone list after I assured him that we had no knowledge of the person they were trying to find.  I hope they keep their word.  For  others who have been having the same problem...Excel Collections Services Ltd., 505-555 Richmond St. W., Toronto, ON, M5V 3B1.  Ph.# 416-504-2000.....then select #2 for 'collections'.

excel is also using phone number 1-866-839-3169. They have been phoning here since about mid-June 2013. At least two calls a day. I left message at that number today, July 4, telling them there is no one here by that name and to remove my number from their data base, and that I am also reporting it to the police.

If nyone youknow has got a payday loan, using you as a reference and then let it go to collections then they will harrass you ( the reference) as well.

Freakin' scam! My credit card is just fine. I phoned my bank as I'm more concerned about whether it affects my credit rating (which they told me should be fine). It was pisses me off as they KEEP calling. I ignore it but then it always leaves an automated message. Losers.

Just started getting calls from this number, I answer and there is no one there. I call back and it goes to a voice mail. If I call on private caller it goes to an automated system saying its excel collection agency. I dont owe any money to anyone. SCAM

It is the number from a collection agency from Ontario.
I was thinking it was a scam so I contacted the OPP where they refered me to the Canadian anti-fraud centre. They confirmed that it was infact a collection agency and they suggest me to contact Equifax and get a credit report to make sure I wasn't a victim of identity theft. If everything was OK with the report then they told me to call the number they mention in the recording and let them know that they have a wrong number or the contact information is out dated and ask them to remove your number from their data base. I was also advised that when calling the collection agency not to give my personal information, just mention the name of the person that they are trying to contact and your phone number.
And this is if the name they mention in the recording is not yours or anybody from your home.

been getting calls from them for 3 months now!!! daily!!! Have them on a block so goes straight to voice mail and they leave a pre-recorded msg???  Getting very fed up

I got a call from this supposed collection agency (Excel) today.  Caller had an accent.  Didn't pick up.   They left a message with a 1-877 return number to call.  They had my last name correct, but not the first name.  Just going to ignore these scammers.

This is a scam based out of India or Pakistan.  They get your info from online payday loan companies. They'll tell you that they have your Social Security Number, your address, your bank, and that you owe money.  Do not agree to anything it is a scam.  They use numbers where they cannot be traced.  Additionally, they will curse at you if you do not agree with them.  The only way they can get money from you is if you agree that they can take funds from your bank account.  I just do  not answer any calls with +1-area code-number.

Calls twice in a row regardless if you answer or leave idle.
If you answer, the line connects and hangs up immediately.
Occurs twice a day in the afternoon and evening.
Been at it for months.
If my phone doesn't get free incoming from anywhere, I would report the company.

Still have no idea who the heck they are though.
