I sent these ppl a check in 09' and they just started calling me at Xmas last year

I've gotten the same message.  The problem is not the collectors, it's the fact that our pro-business leaders do not enforce laws to regulate them.  This blog testifies as to how difficult it is to regulate these people.  It's not as if we don't know who they are.  This idiot could easily be traced to his name and number.

on the advice of the Ministry of Consumer Services, i sent the following email to them at:

ATTN: the President of CBV Collections,

i have been receiving daily phone calls during the week from your company (416-673-1299) on my cell phone.

i have nothing to do with your company.  i deem this to be harassment.

you must remove my cell phone number ***-***-**** immediately from your phone list and stop calling me or i will escalate this complaint to the Ministry of Consumer Services.

This # does belong to a Doug Stevens but it belongs to CBV a collection Agency.  They said to me that they were collecting past due accounts for Telus Mobility.

There were days when this number called me every 10 mins during day its ridiculous ...same thing as commented above early in the morning or late at night and never leaves a message I don't know whats going on.

These idiots are criminals who need to be reported as they keep annoying people. I have spoken to three different people and they keep asking for someone who never had my cell number ever.

These bastards never stop calling even after having been told, its wrong number.

They called me at 7:20 AM few days back and they were looking for someone I have no clue who he is!  Anyway I told them this is wrong number, anyway I told them this is wrong number.  When they called me back 2 days ago around 7:30 I couldn't pick up the phone.  They called again 8 PM I yelled at them and I spoke to the manager.. I told her this is the wrong number and stop calling me day and night otherwise I will file a complain against them

I have had enough. They call constantly looking for "tara". no clue who that is, but I have had this number three and a half years now! I told them to take me off their list...and they called back two hours later! Are you kidding me?? Idiots! I called rogers and call screened (blocked) them. There should be a law-this is harassment because I am NOT tara nor do I owe money.

I also get calls from this number at least 3 to 5 times a day. In the morning, afternoon and night. They never leave a message. I'm getting tried of these calls. I never answer calls that don't display a name.

These jerks called again this morning a little after 8:00am and now again after 10:05am. It can't be important because they never leave a message.

I have been receiving calls from this number and the caller doesn't say anything. I have noticed that they call several times a day at my apartment. Today I got a call at my work, and they hung up. When I called them back, they identified themselves as a collection agency and told me that who they were collecting for "was none of my concern".  I'm going to look into this further.

This number calls me everyday sometimes twice a day.  Sometimes I get a agent asking for someone who doesn't live here, a recording saying this is an urgent matter (can't be that urgent if it's a recording), or my favorite- dead air on my answering machine.

got a call at 7:27 am.  woke my two kids up...called back, collection agency who asked for kathlene, told them wrong effing number and to never call here again, he transferred me!!!!  then the girl that came on asked for kathlene as well, i told her it's the wrong number, and asked where she is calling from, she said toronto, i asked what company, she said she removed my number and doesnt have to give me anymore information and hung up.

i logged the number and if they call back i will be looking into the harrassment policy for collection agencies.  the jerks didnt even appologize for dialing the wrong number at 7:27AM!!!!

I got a call from them twice in the same day.  They did not leave a message.  When I answered the phone they asked for a woman named Amanda.  When I said that no one by that name lived here they hung up.  They called again the next day and I told them to remove me from their system, but then called again the next day!  I was very firm with the young man on the phone and the little f$#@$r hung up on me!  When I called back he did it again.

So, I get this call at 7:24 am from 1-888-226-0228. I'm on the road driving to work. It's the law here in Ontario not to talk on a hand held device while driving. 10 mins later I get a call from 416-673-1299. Like many of you I don't call back numbers that are unknown, and don't leave messages. I as well am using up my airtime to call them back from my cell phone. It does cost and it is expensive. I did end up calling back the number, only to be forced to listen to a message saying that this is an urgent matter etc... your call is being forwarded to an agent... then you're put on hold for a long time. So, I just hang up. I owe money to my HBC (Hudson Bay Company) credit card. Money has been tight with the gas prices shooting up. Even when I make the minimum balance payments, I still get these debt collectors calling me until my name is cleared from there system. Which can take up to two weeks. So... I'm going to pay off my HBC card in due time, then cut it up. And shop elsewhere. As for the debt collector agency, they are rude. Half of them don't speak english. I have been cursed out by one of them. HBC, I understand that you need to use a debt collector agency. But you need to find a new one. One that conducts themselves appropriately with your customers.

This number calls me at least once a day, and I never answer it as it is a long distance number.  They never leave a message either.  Its becoming very irritating.

I got a call for the first time today from this number and like I do with all numbers I don't know I didn't answer it.  Instead I looked it up and found this site.  Now, the number they are calling is a pay-as-you-go cellphone through Telus.  I had been getting calls on my cellphone from another collection agency for a Micheal Evoy/Avoy so this might be the for the same person, I don't know, but it is rather interesting how in the past four months I've started getting collection agencies calling me on a number I've had for almost a year -_-

I got a call from these people too...asking for money....Dumb people started threatening...wanted my banking info. Poor A*&%%holes.

Dear finally ...

Please, do NOT negotiate with these people!  They have purchased your debt from Rogers (at pennies on the dollar) and are harassing you to pay up, so they can make a HUGE profit! The money you pay them will NOT go to Rogers, and there are no guarantees whatsoever that the collection agency will clear your credit rating - if indeed the outstanding amount was reported to the credit agencies at all. Definitely get a free check of your standing with the credit reporting agencies before you invest a dime in what these people are telling you. Chances are - it's not even on there.  But ... if Rogers HAS registered an unpaid debt against your name, it will be for the original amount, and there will be no additional fees or penalties from the collection agency in that amount. So magically, that 'tons of interest' that has been tacked on disappears!

Read the post dated Sep13 2010 from 'Not happy'. That is some good advice. If you intend to pay the bill, then please go back to the originating company and deal with them directly. If they won't take your money, then ask for the rationale in writing.  With such proof in hand, challenge the collection agency to take you to court. You have nothing to fear if the matter goes to court, as this is what you want -
an impartial person to hear your side of the story!  The more that consumers stand up for their legal rights, the quicker the unscrupulous players will give up the debt collection business.

Sad really - that service providers find it more profitable to outsource their problem customers to greedy "get rich quick" entrepreneurs, rather than to invest that money in making an effort to resolve those issues, and retain happy customers.

Everyone, Please, Call these idiots 8-10 times a day, They will soon be out of business with all their lines tied up and no income commin in. Also,, If you owe money, there is no law that states you must pay a collection agent. You can simply return to the merchant and deal directly with them. If the merchant wont take your payments because your in "collection", get that in writing. As soon as they refuse to take money, the courts have ruled over and over, that you debt is considered paid in full.

I answered out of anger expecting nobody to be there (again!) and I was gonna yell colorful metaphors at the dead line but somebody was actually there.  CBV Collections was the deal.  It would seem that Roger's had tacked on tons of interest on an old account that I had (thought so anyway) closed 1.5 yrs ago and that I now have an outstanding balance of $3100!  I called Rogers and gave them a piece of my mind after they told me that there was no way to rectify the matter on their end because now I was in collections and my credit was being damaged more and more on a daily basis "So we don't know what more to say..." AAARGH  I called back CBV and thay told me that maybe they could do a settlement.  Maybe they can get me approved for a $1500 settlement fee that I must pay up in one lump sum or at least 1/3 every week for 3 weeks (That's $500 every week for 3 weeks -- )  Now they are checking with Rogers to see if they'll go for that.  PAIN IN THE A** ROGERS!   They are SUCH THIEVES!!!!!  
Anyhoo, that's my story and I'm sticking to it.  I am now waiting on pins and needles to find a way to pay something I never knew I had to, for all intents and purposes, to repair my stupid credit.  Ain't life grand when you've got conglomerates screwing you without so much as a kiss on the right butt cheek?
